@@Wizley15 yea, but they open up the cards, and I’d argue that looking at the cool cards you get after opening is the point of Pokémon. If you’re someone who gleans joy from keeping legos in boxes, then sure, but most people do it for the eventual price inflation.

Being a toy collector, I think its a general problem with our hobby. The longer it goes, the less space we have for the plastic itself, let alone the packaging. On the other hand there's the anxiety about "devaluing" your collectible. Personally I don't regard my hobby as an investment, but I hate it when I have to sell something and people start looking for any excuse to lowball the price. Opened/abscent packaging is the first thing they'll be crying about. If I were big into Lego collecting I'd be happy about the foldable box gimmick. You can even frame the front cover and put it on the wall if you like it so much. Though these boxes should be made out of better quality cardboard, and maybe have a different approach to prints on them. The paint/print will start cracking and flaking off on the folding-lines over time.

Ok, I actually love this idea. I keep so many boxes from Pokémon Mega Construx and various TCGs because they're such nice display items. I actually just threw away the packaging from all 4 of my Nintendo Labo kits plus the packaging to both VR expansion kits, and even that was kinda hard. I considered cutting off the covers, but the Vehicle kit's box had big tears gone from the front where it had been marked with a shipping label and stuff, so... meh. My main problem is with TCG starter decks, since I tend to rebuild those whenever I want to introduce someone new to the game. It makes it really difficult to store a bunch of (usually) empty little boxes like that. Heck, I have every V Battle deck from Pokémon (so haven't played the Deoxys and Zeraora ones), but eventually would disassemble each deck for the sake of cannibalizing the cards. I really wish TCGO had made a separate version of the Theme Deck format for those so we could easily play them online with randos. Granted, most of them had some... questionable covers for cards. Like, a lot of just... really, *really* bad cards kinda randomly inserted when there were other, significantly better versions of the same Pokémon from other, sometimes *more* recent sets (sets that already had *other* cards in the deck, so there really was no excuse). Maybe someday I can donate some of these boxes to a game museum or something idk

IMO even if you never plan on selling them you can have peace of mind knowing that your set still has decent value if you take care of the box and keep it in good condition when you open it. It might not be worth as much NIB but it's a reasonable trade-off so you can have your cake and eat it.

Get a few dozen plastic storage bins. throw in a dryer sheet too place a lawn bag on top before closing the bin. Literally problem solved. Can store them in the basement or where ever. Dryer sheet and lawn bag is to protect it from getting smelly.

Parents will never understand the innate desire to obtain cardboard boxes like LEGO kids do. It’s as popular as the sets themselves.

I live in Turkey and these boxes will get fucked up when they reached here, ever the older boxes had bruises and breaks on them... but I really liked the idea, you can showcase then on your wall now!

And with the newer boxes after you fold them down, you can keep them in a record box or a milk crate (idk I like the look of milk crates lol) If you wanna get real fancy, you could prob find plastic protectors to put over the box. Dust covers? Yeah things like that. Very cool.

It’s insane to think that if I just kept my Lego figures from when I was a kid, I could have a whole KZfaq channel dedicated to it. Instead I totally lost all my Lego figures as I grew up

If you don’t open boxed because of „rarity“ you don’t deserve to own them.

As a collector myself, I genuinly don't understand keeping products in the box like that, and I don't mean that as some sort of jab. I collect Transformers, I have a few rare ones worth alot of money. But if I spend money on it, like I would want to actually get enjoyment and mess with the thing as it was intended. Sure maybe try it out once then never touch it on a shelf again, but at least I tried it out once.

Since I always heavily modify my sets and change the design to my liking, i have no reason to keep boxes in general. And they waste a lot of space so I just threw away around 50 boxes from the last 5 years and 4 from 2002. I want to display the sets as I build them. I don't care about displaying cardboard full of air or setting it aside leaving it to collect dust

I can´t throw away boxes as well. And as someone who has a whole pallet and a giant tower of empty boxes I really like the new design!

Of ALL THINGS, Lego Boxes literally don't even get ruined are change. It's Transformer Boxes or anything with a clear plastic display that is MUCH MORE DIFFICULT to want to open.
