When you were holding it at the end it could’ve easily been mistaken for a scale model, the smooth finish really sells it

I didn't think much of this set when I first saw the pictures but after seeing this video, it seems like a really well executed build. Big props to the designers.

Great set and a wonderfully thorough and entertaining review. As a Brit the Corvette doesn't particularly hold a special place in my memory, but I really appreciate how well designed and engineered this set is, and how well it displays. It's pricey, but when it's such a well done set that feels far more justifiable than many if the recent sets

As an outsider to these car models, my jaw dropped when I heard the price. I was expecting $100 at most, but $150 is insane. I guess maybe compared to the other vehicles it’s a good value but I would’ve never guessed these were so pricey

I agree, I think the 56/57 vette would’ve been more interesting to do. Or even a ‘71 vette in gold like the Apollo astronauts drove! 😂 The roof is awful on this and I’m glad it’s easily removed, but that goes to the very simple build of the car as you say. I think this has some MOC potential, turning it into a class Triumph Stag or an MGB (I like the American classics they’ve been doing but I wish they’d do more classic European cars, but I guess that’s what MOCs are for!) , but that will have to wait till I see the set on discount, the RRP is way too high for what you get IMHO. 09:47 I dunno, depends on the car. This definitely looks better as a convertible and I prefer my convertible version of the Ford Mustang (again looks strangely more accurate and nicer as a convertible). 11:15 man LEGO doing an expert sorry “Icons” 300sl would be awesome!

Thanks for the detailed review. Good to see the screens are protected and that there are not too many off color parts visible :) and yeah it is nicely finished up (no hole in the trunk.... like on so many other cars). I will lookup for promotions prior buying it.

Fits right in with the 911 and Mustang sets Red White and Blue Just wish it was a Stingray C2 Corvette instead.

after learning that $100 in 2003 is basically $150 now with inflation, Im not shocked by many of these prices anymore. A equivalent set from back then would be far less detailed and probably have a lower piece count than this modern set. Same reason I wasn't shocked by the new republic gunship set

I have this set ready to be build can’t wait. I’m really digging this new scale model cars. They make for a great display piece as well. I used to be all technic but this is my fav sets now.

Y’all, putting the finger through the wheel well is a method in real life for opening stuck hoods on C1-3 corvettes. I’ve had to do it with mine

That boot (trunk) can store a lot of light saber blades, hilts and alternative hair pieces!

The official pictures did the actual model no justice, seeing it in the video makes me really want it

I am a Corvette NUT. I’m from Kentucky, attended my university in the same town as the Corvette plant and museum, and I ADORE most of the Corvette designs. Except this one lol. It’s cool, but I agree with Jang’s pick for the C1 variations that could have been picked, although I would personally have loved to have a C2 split window or a C3. Regardless, this is a no-brainer holiday gift for myself this year, and it’s even in my alma mater’s colors.

Mine is on the way from Lego and I’m looking forward to building it. Near the end when you were holding it at an angle it was fooling my eyes and almost looked die cast, or at the very least un-Lego like. That’s impressive. :)

It's definitely a classic that Corvette, Lego did a great job replicating it in this set, and a big applause to Lego for having protected the wind screens properly, as they should, that was a wise decision on their part, that was my real concern over this set, (as it probably was for everyone as well) Nice review, Jang!

The real world version is one of my favorite cars, though I am not nuanced enough to know the distinctions between the two years. And this one looks good to me. Appreciate the review especially from someone who is not overly enthusiastic about the basis.

Despite and flaws/shortcomings it's a perfectly suitable display model with about the level of detail/functional play as you expect from any Creator Expert/Icons model. While I think the Camaro, and Porsche are better realized I like what was attempted with the shaping and it really shows how far these models have come since the Aston Martin which though uniquely functional couldn't pull off the shaping or proportions of the actual car. I also like how it still scales appropriately with the rest of the lineup and how steering was still accomplished despite being smaller similar to the Beatle, and Mini Cooper. A definite buy down the road, but that $200 is rough.

Great review as always. The model looks good given the limitations of the Lego bricks and such. My main gripe: the shape of the wheel arches/wheel wells. I wish Lego invested on customized wheel wells to make the model look more accurate. Minus the “nitpick,” Lego has done a typically fine job with this model. Yes I’ll probably get one within the near future. Cheers!

The front end looks a bit blocky, but that's what you get when trying to build a curvy '50s car out of Lego. However, everything else looks incredible. The sequence at the end of you holding the car and giving your final thoughts, it looked like a serious model. It's more impressive than I thought

I hate this version of the Vette overall, but as a Lego model, it's really well done. I especially like the shaping on the front grill with those motorcycle style handles.

Looks like this is a car to fill up with transparent pieces underneat to support the wheels. I have done that with a couple of cars now like the Delorean (camber), VW T2 (camber), Pickup Truck (camber), 1989 Batmobile (soft tires that deform) and Tumbler (soft tires that deform). Price is fine for the LEGO cars in my opinion, a diecast model costs as much, is usually smaller and doesn't have the pleasure of building it.

Granted, it’s made from Lego but the sides look a bit square/ scale might be slightly off? I love the shaping at the rear!

Love this art and what Lego is doing with the icons line. I'm a huge car fanatic but with the price and the fact I'm not a huge fan of this model year of Corvette I probably won't be get this.

definitely one of my favorite large scale cars lego has done in a while, kind of lost interest after the mustang a few years ago.

I would tile the back of that roof and get rid of those studs sucks it just about every roof has studs on top

Here’s hoping lego starts sending all windscreen pieces in their own packaging. So many speed champion sets I’ve boughten have had scratches on them

I think they nailed it, but I’m just not drawn to this vehicle. I think they chose not to do the gen 1 corvette because the headlights would have just have been the same construction as the Aston Martin and the Porsche. However I’m a little burnt out on 60-70s muscle cars from them and would love to see a Beetle again or Lambo Miura, they have those license deals in place.

You mention the 300SL. I was looking at a similar sized diecast model of that a few days ago, and it was more than twice as expensive, and the doors couldn't even open up. Then there's a Playmobil 300SL, which is cheaper and looks nice, goes very well with their figures so it makes for a good toy...but honestly it has a lot less going on than these Lego models. In the spirit of some of your past toy and model comparison videos, I feel like Lego is hitting a nice value here.

I wish Lego did more modern cars in this size too. The day they release a silver Ferrari 360 Modena they have my money ^^

Looks alright, but can’t help but feel that the series peaked with the Porsche.

That LEGO Corvette is so well done. It's instantly recognizable as the car. I prefer the C2 or C3 myself, but this is a really good version of the given car. It's finished off so smoothly you can barely tell it's LEGO sometimes!

There's something about that windscreen piece that just doesn't look right to me. If there is no out-of-the-box building techniques utilised here, I think I'll have to pass on this one. One of my favourite things about the expert/adults cars Lego puts out are the ways that things are put together at weird angles. Also, this might sound silly - but I'm not a huge fan of the colour red, so I guess I'm waiting another year to see if they make something that interests me (last years didn't either). At least I save money this way.

No idea why - but i feel like it looks bigger (longer) without the roof.

The real question: how easy is it to mod this into Lola?

I just can't pay $150 for this between the smaller size, basic build and flat front. Maybe if they figured out a way for the front to be a bit more curvy. $120 seems like a fair price. I probably have $1,000+ in expert car sets but have skipped the last two.

Lego released this in time for Barbie. No coincidence for sure. And probably did the right thing by not going all pink.

The car itself is cool. I just don’t like the wind shield. Its too non lego-sh.

Sorry, I still think this model is a miss. Without the curve over the top front bumper, you lose much of the beauty of the real car. Think of what an XKE would look like if the front bumper were flat like this.

Sohow it disappointed me.. too blocky front I guess, I can’t say it’s bad but there are better of cars in Lego - like DMC or camaro

I know this has many fans out there, personally I just wish they could have moved away from american classics for a change. I know the land rover is European, but for someone who collects cars its underwhelming to me. The hard top also looks weird or rushed in some way.

You need to stop doing these videos... Every time you make one it costs me money... I am not a Corvette, or even a muscle/classic car fan, but I think that is a pretty proper build and likely will be one I add to my collection. Thanks for sharing!

I have all the other Creator Export / Icons cars and they look great because the cars they are based upon look great. Porsche, Camaro and Mustang. This, its just ugly. Because the actual car is also ugly, so yeah. Especially with the top on. Very ugly. I would not wanna display this.

Im a car guy and I think that the model lacks some of the sexy curves of the car. I know the front grill is like the real car but is ugly. The front looks too flat for me. The lights are too simple, I understand they didnt have many options but they are too simple. The roof is not inclined like the real car, is just straight and the engines is too simple too. The interior is also veeeeery boring and simple. Just some stickers, simple seats, simple pedals, no special details. This car looks like it has been designed for car guys and not lego fans. As simple as possible, not too much details and easy to build, as you say. This looks like an old lego creator car but bigger. I know it has some technic stuff but on the outside it looks like that. I like to see your reviews, and I usually agree with you but I cant understand why you like this model so much. And its ultra expensive on my head. This should be 100€ model.
