Why do people compare a cartoonish (obviously) steamboat with a detailed one? "We're sorry, but since Lego has released a Batmobile this year no other four-wheeled vehicles will be released for the next ten years."

I knew SpongeBob wouldn’t get picked. Not only due to other building brands like Snap & Switch and Area-X, but bringing back an old LEGO theme through Ideas would be impossible due to their rules.

That's absolutely not right and we have even have past Ideas sets to prove it. Lego Sonic was allowed. Lego Winnie the Pooh was allowed. Lego Mickey Mouse was allowed. Hell even on Ideas, Spongebob is listed as a valid IP to use. Other retired themes are on there too like Avatar: TLA, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Simpsons, etc. You can even look up any old Lego original themes like Blacktron, Pirates, Aquazone, Dino Attack, Elves, etc. The Area-X thing might be a valid argument because they seem to be using the same design that we've seen on Ideas several times and that looks to be an officially branded set. I'm really hoping that was made in collaboration with the original designer

The only thing I'm upset about is that the Big Boy didn't win. I had a feeling it wouldn't because of the Orient Express, but I REALLY want Lego to do more sets on US trains like how they did with the Santa Fe Chief. Lego can do SO many sets on US trains, because they're have been so many in history. Train fans would love more sets like that

I’m okay with the Western River Steamboat getting approved because it’s a much more realistic depiction of one compared to the cartoony Stsramboat Willie. You get two Ideas steamboats that compliment each other.

Time and time again the Blue-Eyes VS DM on the Gold Sarcophagus fails. I hope it eventually gets it, right now would've been great because it's the 25th anniversary AND the Gold Sarcophagus just got made into it's own theme.

Unexpected but great picks. The Lego gumball fashioned machine/mechanism is a fun novelty display build, and while the steamboat does look amazing it would make much more sense as an Icons build similar to the Alligator train/Titanic. Not sure I'll be buying either, but will be interesting to see how they turn out a year from now.

you know that lego Gumball idea would work the best at lego stores, just pay the same price as blind box/bag figure to crank the Gumball machine to get a random mini figure.

I gotta go for my favourite colour Turquoise But, as secondary, and sand colour and olive green, love them. I know alot of Sands are discontinued colours, but won't stop me

Phineasand Ferb are still big with kids, they are GETTING NEW EPISODES and a CINEMA movie Lego: Nah we are going to pass it 7th time. Yugioh is TOP 3 TCG nowadays. A Cool set could really be good.

I'm pretty pleased with these results, the Gotcha machine is cute and fun, not that I would get it. I would definitely get Luxo Jr set, and depending on the price would highly consider the Steamboat. I like Steamboats a lot and the Steamboat Willie set just wasn't as good as I had hoped and I got the minififgures with the CMF series, so I didn't get it.

I was disappointed to see the Mystery machine didn't win but were getting a western set! It's not a train, a town or a mine or a stagecoach but it's a western set which we haven't seen since 2013 over ten years ago! And we have never gotten a steamboat to such detail.

The Minifigure Prize Machine is a cute idea, but we already had enough LEGO Steamboats from Steamboat Willie. Scooby-Doo and SpongeBob were both retired themes based on Popular Cartoons, and both deserve a LEGO comeback. The Mystery Machine and Krusty Krab, respectively, could have both been great opportunities.

Wrong. If what you said was true, Disney would've rejected it before this point and Lego wouldn't have even been on the fence about it. Luxo filed a lawsuit because Disney sold a lamp as part of a Blu-Ray set that was made to look like a Luxo lamp. The case ended with Disney and Luxo settling and Disney said they wouldn't make any LAMPS but Pixar would be allowed to Luxo as their logo. They've still been able to sell Luxo merch though without calling it that. I have a Luxo Jr lamp ornament from Disneyland and Hallmark made one a couple of years ago too. Disney Store JP has sold a figure of the lamp and they've made a Disney Pin as well as many t-shirts. They never brand it Luxo and just call it the Pixar lamp/

I honestly lost any interest in the Ideas theme, pics are always meh and not very interesting (and always so fucking big and expensive) but I have to admit that the minifig dispenser is interesting, might think to buy it but a lot of the previous pic are a not buy from me

People crying about Steamboat Willie and the new steamboat set are just pathetic. Like come on! That's like saying we shouldn't get The Office because we got Seinfeld or we shouldn't have got an Ecto 1 because we got the Delorean. They are barely even connected. A more realistic ship design vs a cartoon. Also I don't think the Krusty Krab will ever happen for this version. Area-X seems to be selling an officially licensed set that looks identical to this version of the Krusty Krab.

At this point, I really do just think Lego should just make a 'no licensed builds' rule, and just do extensive survey work with the community to gauge which licenses we would go for, because some of these hurt. I knew Spongebob and Scooby Doo were lost causes because Lego already lost the licenses for both, but Phineas and Ferb? Shrek? Yu-Gi-Oh? Like, stop playing with us, Lego...

I always didn't care about licenced sets, just not my cup of tea, most of pop-culture already flew over my head... So I am thrilled about these picks! Yes! My favourite type of sets! 1:1 real life object, but in lego form! This gacha-machine will look perfect next to Ship in a bottle, Typewriter, Insta-camera, Globe, all my beloveds...
