With the upcoming release of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, it felt (yet again) worthwhile to look at one of the older TT Lego games, Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures, except (yet again) I'm looking at the somewhat stranger port for Nintendo DS by TT Fusion. Here, I break down the gameplay, the characters, the quirks, and the truly most BAFFLING exclusive addition I've ever seen.

Oh man, I just remembered a glitch with the DS version. When you're in the college hubworld, select a character with a whip and use it to attack someone. You have to make sure you only use the whip to attack since if you use your fists, it doesn't work. After you eventually kill your target, immediately switch over to them. Your character will be able to move but they'll float around and go through objects. If you leave the room and out into the main hall, everything would turn brown, red or green. I remember doing that all the time as a kid just to see the results lol

I remember this! It'd allow you to fall through the floor too if you did it right (I think it was walking into stairs). I remember seeing inside inaccessible rooms, and also way below the map there would be an inflatable raft just floating in the void

A damn, I discovered a very similar bug as a kid. Do the same thing, but instead of whipping punch the character to death and switch the exact moment the hit lands. You will die and respawn without a head.

Very underrated content creator. Lego Indiana Jones was always one of my favorite Lego themes. I was always one of those weird kids that preferred Lego Indiana Jones 2 over the Original Adventures, as I found the open areas to be more fun. I remember havint these on the DS, and I was always disappointed it wasn't exactly like its console counterparts. Back then though, I didnt realize a tiny little handheld couldnt be as powerful as a gigantic box lol

Thanks! Indy 2 may be divisive, but the modern Lego games wouldn’t exist as they do without the things it tried, and I respect it so much (some of the best boss fights in the entire franchise, hands down). I’ll probably come back to Indy 2’s handheld port in a few videos.

This DS game was my intro to Indiana Jones. To this day, I hear the music in the films and my brain goes, "that's from Lego Indiana Jones!" I have a save with 113 hours logged, surprisingly not 100 percented (97.7%) I remember being so mad when I unlocked the clown and he had a shovel (which was my least favorite weapon.) Good times...

I don't understand this game. I've been playing for maybe 20 minutes and I can't even figure out if I'm in a level or on some kind of hub world, and if I am, where the levels are. There's switches I don't know how to operate with no explanation, I don't know if they're for later or if I have to figure them out now, because there is no direction in this game. There's a shop and character creator and such, but if there's some kind of area like the theaters in Lego Star Wars that have numbers on them and lead to levels, they could have done a much better job of helping me find them. I'm giving up and I'll try the first one, I hope that's more conventionally laid out.

Holy Shit this is wild. first off fantastic video and I love seeing your reactions to the insanity that is the blowing function, but what's really weird is that Lego Indiana Jones for the DS was the first game I ever saved up the money for and bought. the amount of insane things I never quite realized until watching this video is baffling. In fact, for several year I had literally forgotten the enemies were nazis in the movies because I spent so much time as a kid playing the DS port and since it never came up, I just thought they were mean army guys. Why have I let Lego Indiana Jones on the DS affect me as much as it has. help me

I remember when I was like 10 or so, I asked for Lego Indiana Jones 2 for Christmas, specifically the PSP version, since that was the only game device I owned that it was available for. When I actually played the game, it turned out that they had just ported the DS version over to PSP, presumably because of the same limitations that separated the DS versions of Lego Star Wars 2, Lego Indy 1, and Lego Batman from the console version. I didn't _hate_ the game, it was just different from what I expected. The story is only focused on the 4th movie though, all the content from the first 3 is restricted to unlockable characters and the extra minigames. I do remember one big issue I had with it though, and that's that I got stuck on the third level for a while. The reason why is because they gave Mutt the ability to climb certain walls and just... never bothered adding a pop-up like they did for other characters and their abilities. I had to Google it to figure it out. All in all, though, it was a fun game in its own way. And the clown is still in that one. For some reason.

25:21 I remember when I was a kid, playing this game and hadn't unlocked the clown yet, I imagined he would throw pie's at enemies. But I think that would be too creative for the developers. Good memories, as a kid, I didn't had any home consol, you must know, so I always got the DS ports of games I was interested in. But if you think that was weird, play the sequel on DS. I can't imagine how a developer can make just the basic ability of jumping to turn into the clunkiest movement ever.

Lego Indy 2 on the DS is also a very interesting port. It's far different from the base version, and it's far better as a result. It focuses specifically on Crystal Skull instead of all four movies, and it instead covers the first three movies in the form of bonus minigames based on setpieces from the movies. It's honestly the definitive version of Indy 2 imo. There's a *lot lot* more I could go into about the DS version of Indy 2 but then this comment would be long enough to crash a computer from the sheer amount of data that would have to be processed.

I hope they do the same thing they did with the skywalker saga for Lego Indiana Jones with all 5 movies with a big open world

I Remember as a Young Kid the DS Version of LEGO indiana Jones 2 Had a Slighty Increased Difficulty Level then Wii Version and It's More Close to the First Game in Terms of Hub

I find the DS version more nostalgic, since I played it more as a child.

Shame it's tragically inaccessible between the price of a real cartridge and the difficulty of emulating it

This game rocked, but I wouldn't call it weird. You have to look at the handheld port for Indiana Jones 2 for something that strays a LOT from the console game. I remember it being surprisingly funny.

@@BaneShake You know what? You make an extremely fair & valid point. I still think the overworld plot for the 2nd game is overall weirder, but my memory of both games are a little foggy. I was younger but I remember thoroughly enjoying both ports.

@@dyll_pyckle No worries, friend! You're definitely not wrong, the second game gets quite weird.
