Love how in literally the first episode, they: - Ripped my heart out and ground it up into a bajillion tiny pieces - Made Shadowpeach canon without making Shadowpeach canon - Introduced a TON of huge lore drops from outta fuccin nowhere - Called out Wukong on his bullshit without antagonizing him - Somehow made Macaque EVEN MORE of a favorite character - Made MK’s and Dadsy’s relationship even more wholesome - Made MK’s and Wukong’s relationship more wholesome - 100% confirmed the two Monkey Bros are actually monkey bros (Because I know some people out there still saw them as like a father and son duo, including me) - Gave us more Sandy For a first episode that is genuinely insane to me-

So does anyone else realize that MK and Po from kung fu panda have some very similar back stories? Not identical by any means, but both of them were raised by noodle salesman who had a passion for food. They both adored the food, but they weren’t really passionate about it. There’s as many similarities as there are differences, but I find it really cute seeing them interact with their dads.

regardless of the animation changes, that scene with pigsy and mk was so sweet. i liked that this episode has felt slower paced than most in the past season, it really gave room for everything to breathe a bit more

I gotta say, I got into Monkie Kid because of the animation and I was massively, I mean MASSIVELY dissapointed when I saw the S5 trailer. But this.... THIS.... I LOVE THIS. Sure it's nothing compared to the old seasons, but they surpassed my expectations and I'm so glad I'm giving it a chance because right now, I'm super excited for more. If you are not convinced yet, please don't hate on the new studio and give them a chance, they are clearly trying to live up to the previous seasons.

Oh my goodness It just feel so weird not the audio just the animation like you’re just so used to something and once there’s a major changes it just feels off We were so used to all four seasons with that high-quality animation.

Just an FYI, S5 in English was officially released on The Lego Channel yesterday. Support the official release if possible guys, so hopefully the animation has a chance to get better

@@cyanado2697 I agree it'll only get better with time. It'd just suck if the show was canceled before that happened though. The animation this season is super janky, but I'll give Wildbrain credit for at least attempting to imitate the old style's action. It just seems like they were rushed and didn't have the time to truly bring their storyboards to life.

The animation downgrade is very noticeable but honestly I think the characters, voice acting, & writing of this show still saves it. And honestly im surprised the incredible animation lasted 4 seasons anyways, considering this shows sets are much less popular than something like Ninjago. (And a lot of fans pirate it 😅) anyways I’m still excited to watch this season!! 🤍

I think the bigest problem with the animation is the color, and that they probably use less frames. The colors are to saturated and object verry flatly shaded, from what it looks like. Especially the yellow. And the movements are less fluid and more "jumpy". Nothing that can't be fixed with time, but it definitely makes the show look more "chesp kids show" esqu. It's kind of interesting though how on model they are with some of the characters, like Wukong and Pigsy, while especially MK seems kind of off model xD

I feel like the animation definitely improves over a corse of a few episodes there’s more frames and starts to look like a more rushed version of the previous seasons. It might just be the fact that I’m reading the sub but until you really think about the fact the animation changed it blends in really well :)

I hate the animation so much. It feels like a downgrade and like I’m watching a kids animated series. They should’ve at least kept the old animation crew or whatever because this is not it.

They didn’t have a choice afaik. The animation studio that did the first seesons, Flying Bark Productions, couldn’t do it this time around due to logistical issues, likely relating to no longer being able to output as much as Lego needed them too.

I was a hater when I saw the animation change in the trailer, but now I’m coming around to it. WildBrain clearly tried their best to emulate the style as best they could to varying degrees of success. I was worried that it would be stiff and lifeless like the 2D segments in Ninjago

I cant help but feel like ever since they switched to rigging and left flyingbark studios the animation just seems… lifeless. Compared to the previous style of fluid animation that you could tell had a lot of love put into making it.

@Sphomx I noticed that too! They also did the thing you see in some anime and manga where the closed mouth is parted in the middle. It's not good or bad but it is something the new studio is doing. I wonder if it's to give it a more hand drawn feel.

I think they had to change studios because the previous one had too much on their plate (take this with a grain of salt because this is only what I’ve heard). Also secondly why it seems off is probably because they have used rigging?? At least that’s my guess. They also look weirdly short, I don’t know if that’s just me or it’s something else that looks off…

Flying bark studio is bussy with other project (i forget the name) and probally because wildbrain is cheaper then flying bark studio(also lego greediness, they more focus on the set then the animation/show after all)@@raikreios

Haven’t you heard about all the layoffs in animation? The character stile was very simplistic, but the animation was very, very detailed and professionally done All things considered the former might’ve even been hand drown(on computer, not paper). All the people who did it before are probably fired or the studio that had it formally has gone under, and it was handed to a new studio for cheaper animation. the new studio does not have the money for really high-level animators nor can put thy time to produce such beautiful in fluid animation.. I say we be grateful it’s still being made and hasn’t been written off as a tax write off as some shows. it’s still pretty good.

Flying bark studios has been moving around lately for their shows Lego Monkie kid - Wild brain studios Glitch techs - Paramount+ Moon girl & devil dinosaur - Disney+ Rise of the TMNT - Netflix/Paramount+ Hopefully they don't stay paused Hiatus forever cause of company problems nor budget cuts or toy line problems or even Covid Let's just wait and see what they have for us in the future

Even if the animation change is incredibly jarring (not bad, but definitely a downgrade), at least the other good things remain, especially the voice acting.
