There's nothing to complain about this time around, seriously. It's basically a perfect set. A plentiful amount of minifigures to enjoy, including some new, exclusive characters we've never gotten before, and a pretty good build with quite a lot going on for the size. All for the low price of $30, this set is truly one of the best from Ninjago we've gotten recently.

This is the set to get, the figures included all be it not entirely show accurate are truly welcome editions to my collection and the overall build is good. I like These types of sets for Ninjago, I hope we get another one of these for the Ninjago city gardens set more akin to the city chase so we can get actual named characters that are from the show. The only things I don't like are bolobos face should have been a original print, his torso should have been clothed not bare and the unuse of existing jade blade pieces but we didn't receive techno blades either and with the newer weapon pieces makes sense. Like the Easter eggs in the set much appreciated good job by the designer or team.

on the book, theres actually a reference to norse mythology with ouroboros, the signifier of life and death, pretty metal

That’s also the name of the Serpentines’ city.

It's there for its relevance to Ninjago history - that symbol was the symbol of the Serpentine as a race, and the season that this set is based on heavily involved one of the Serpentine tribes. So while the symbol certainly exists because of Norse mythology and that's where the writers would have got it, it's present in this set specifically in the context of the Serpentine.

This is definitely my favorite set of the wave. If I see this in a store I might just pick it up impulsively, which my wallet will not enjoy. Also, the Jade Blade (*gong*) sound effect genuinely made me smile every time. I remember that sound effect from Jang's original reviews. Great callback!

The new Elemental Masters figs are so amazing! I definitely want this set just for the minifigures. Bolobo has a cool torso with the items pouch. And that amazing beard! All the figs are so good in this set. Great review as usual. 🙂

7:40 I hope they keep finding ways to use that spinner armature. Great to see it one more time. The feature can be replicated with other Lego pieces, but the part is so elegant that I'm a fan just by reading about it on NewElementary.

Thats the only character we actually need now and the new elemental masters will be completed then Lego should go on to making the original/older elemental masters or possibly give them sets, I would love a series based on them especially if LEGO decides to move on from the core Ninjago story.

The "Rebooted" Legacy minifigs for the ninja honestly always much more closely resembled the original Tournament of Elements jungle robes anyway, so their inclusion here is fitting. It's weird that they didn't do a distinct style of Legacy minifig for Rebooted, to be honest the original prints were completely distinct, it's only the fact that they wear a bandana and hair rather than a full hood that makes them similar. I definitely want to get this set if only for the elemental masters (and the 10th anniversary Lloyd)

Great review! This set has decent value but excels at the minifigures undeniably. From owning the original version of this set and a handful of other sets from the tournament of elements season, I wish they had more of the various other elemental masters in those sets instead of generic villains and repetitive ninjas. However, I question how well they would fit into the play-patterns of those sets as they were many good guys vs bad guys with one side having a large build.
