Here's an obvious Lego obsession: Lego loves putting their stud shooters in as many sets as possible, especially Star Wars. And they tend to put them in sets that don't really need them

Lego has a strange obsession with bricks. I see them in almost every set 🤔

I bought the Bonsai tree just to have something chill for the holidays, and when I opened it up and saw all the frogs I was baffled and loved it too.

Not necessarily an obsession or super versatile, but i love that Mjolnir finds itself into a bunch of sets as stone bricks

Another obsession I remember, was Lego would place a coffee mug or coffee maker, into every set possible. But maybe that was just the Lego city sets.

The brown carrots in Indiana Jones weren't just clubs. They were also used as torches in the Well of Souls.

Frogs were used as the helmet hooks in 2009’s Modular Building Series Fire Brigade so that table wasn’t the first use of frogs for something other than a frog.

Just saying, I'm starting to think that Lego has this obsession with 2x2 bricks. They're in so many sets.

"Why is LEGO obsessed with the frog, sausage, carrot, and banana pieces?" Because plastic molds are expensive and the more use they get out of them, the more they earn back on that investment.

Another reason for the abundance of Batmans (Batmen?) is the fact that before the DC Superheroes line LEGO had a standalone Batman theme from 2006 to 2008.

That Bonsai tree set turned out really nice, but it was SO PAINFUL to put together. The cherry blossom branches alone took me over 30 minutes. Worth it tho :)

It makes sense that Batman is so popular compared to other superheroes, because both him and his rogues love their vehicles, gadgets, and cool lairs. When you think of the Joker, you think of abandoned theme parks; when you think of Penguin, you think of the Iceberg Lounge. You don’t really get that for many other heroes or villains, so you don’t get as many ideas for sets

Ah, I'm so glad that The Ambush in Cairo set was mentioned! I remember losing that brown carrot piece for the longest time when I was young, but did end up finding it!

I really love the frogs as the table legs in the joust set. Their shape fits the whole look of those weird curvy legs that some tables have so well

Nobody ever mentions the frog pieces being used in the modular fire station set back in 2009 as hat hooks. That was way before the jousting set mentioned in the video!

In the last Jurassic Park wave, each set had a different color frog integrated somehow. The brown one was part of the poop pile Dr Saddler dug through. The Batman thing I think is two fold. One is that he is a very recognized character. Two is that he had more vehicles and gadgets than anyone else, thus easier to make sets for. And I always loved how in Lego City Adventures the Mayor dressed as corn with no explanation. I always thought a good joke would have been if the two political parties in Lego City were The Veggie Party and the Animal Party. Thus everyone running for office wore a vegetable or animal costume. And rather than actual politics they used something more basic. The veggies, like Mayor Flek focused on hard work, while the Animals just talked about how cool they were for picking their animal costume.

Obviously, reusing plastic molds is logical, it's a company. They gotta make money, they're gonna cut costs. But its actually kinda genius. In more than half of these sets, I NEVER noticed the frogs being there. They're just frog-shaped enough to be frogs, but vague enough to be anything you want!

Wonderful video, I’ve always loved creative use of existing Lego pieces but didn’t know about any of these examples. One quick correction though: the “dragons” are lions, hence the name of the Lego set. Lions are generally operated by two people, whereas dragons are operated by many more.

Frogs being used as the pistil of the Orchid set blew my mind.

Frogs were also used as heads for the gargoyle statues in the Batman Arkham Asylum Breakout set featured later in the video.

About the frogs, hotdogs, bananas and carrots, I don't think lego is obsessed with them. I think they are just good for details.

I just see it as them using molds more efficiently rather than making a bunch of new ones for small things like clubs and the set designers being creative with them, that or the designers are always hungry and and trying to sneak food into as many sets as possible but I think it's the first part

Lego batman, was one of the major characters in Lego movie and the leader of classic minifigure people on the second movie . Definitely Lego is obsessed about Batman.

For me is the biggest lego obsession in putting golden katanas to ninjago sets

Eggs are also used in some interesting ways. Off the top of my head, I can remember that a grey one was used in an Angry Birds set to decorate an engine piece, and in the Succulents set there was a literal handful to use on a cactus.

Lego should just make an entire set where all the Minifigures are just frogs.

My addition to the batman obsession: batman is a character who is designed to have a lot of toys in his dispoal. Various batmobile, batplanes, and other bat-stuff. Other super heroes just dont rely on them often. Even iron man usually has suits.

Lego carrots make me nostalgic. Love the weird little split down the sprout.

In 2009 the Fire Brigade 10197 was released, were the frogs were used as holder for the firemans helmets. So the unique use of frogs started way before 2012

They also loved using the exact same head that goes under the stuff like the lego stormtroopers for about 10 years

Wow, I thought that Lego using the frogs in the 30th Anniversary Jurassic Park sets, were just nods to the Dinosaurs being cloned using Frog DNA. Using a White Frog for shaving-cream foam is a great idea though.

There's so many bat-gadgets that really lend themselves to being built in Lego, i think it makes sense that he's in so many sets

As a kid, I was obsessed with the prop parts like the frog and gems. If I had the money and space, I would have a massive collection of mini figures and props.

9:20 I think the batman obsession has a lot to do with playability. Superman isn’t really all that exciting as a toy, as all his powers come from within. You could have some fake eye lasers, and breakable objects for him to smash, but the fun doesn’t really go much further. Batman on the other hand, has an immense array of gadgets, vehicles, outfits, weapons, and buildings. I could list off potential sets only Batman could produce, afforded by Bruce’s infinite wealth, but they’re probably already sets.

I’ve found that the Lego Batman head is actually pretty useful outside of DC stuff, the white band on he forehead makes a pretty useful bandage or headband.

My friend showed me some Lego set i don’t remember but it was a building of some kind, and it used the Minecraft wolf head mold in the architecture

Does anyone remember about 2-3 years ago when Lego designers had a slight obsession with hiding poop in the sets? Like they would put that little brown ice cream swirl EVERYWHERE. Pretty much every set I got that year had one somewhere, the vintage taxi, the book shop, hell even a plane and countless Lego friends sets had them from what I heard. It was weird af

Lego frogs are my favorite lego piece. They're so charming I love how they're shaped.

What surprises me is that although LEGO, who loves doing Batman stuff, is currently doing a Crossover with Fortnite, which in the past has done crossovers with DC to release 4 Batman skins (Excluding Batman who Laughs as he is more Joker than Batman) yet they have yet to make a LEGO versions of the skins for use in Fortnite's LEGO gamemodes!

I feel like the Lego barrel piece also gets used in different ways other than a barrel. Obviously not as popular as the frog or the sausage, but it is seen being used in the headlights for the Ecto-1 and the piston blocks for the engine in the titanic.

One might say LEGO has an obsession with anything that they can mass produce cheaply and in bulk. It means more LEGO for anyone who collects it, so I certainly don't mind acquiring more of it! 😁👍👍

My Lego obsession is the minifigure heads like from the Creator Set of a Xylophone.

If i remember right, the frogs are a joke among set designers to see who can use the frog piece in the most creative and funny way possible. Like the flower and Banzai Tree frogs.

Those costumes for the Minifigures could be used for a Halloween Party or Comic Con.

The Batman thing is also because they made Batman sets before ever making “dc” sets, and the Batman line even got it’s on video game

My orchid set uses Demogorgon heads as buds and has frogs in the large flowers.

Ski poles is also an interesting piece in this regard.

This explains why Batman is a main-ish figure in the Lego movie.

I have every single food costume minifigure, and missing only gorilla and rabbit guy from animal costumes collection plus I have every specialised minifigure like rocket boy, firemork guy, crayon flower etc. I love lego

On the offical orchid set, I can relate it does have frogs in the set.

I think Batman is their favorite simply because batman is best suited for lego sets due to all of his vehicles and gadgets. Whenever a superhero like spiderman gets a set with a vehicle, it just doesn't make sense, because spiderman never uses a vehicle. Same goes for a lot of other superhero's.

The sausage piece was used as a desk lamp in the Simpsons house set.
