I like that it doesn’t use rubber bands because these break so easily over time, on the other hand it kinda sucks that it falls back into lowered position so easily

This is bad for army building. That luke is not for army building. You should get a bunch of lukes landspeeder for farmvoy luke army would be better.

JJL productions, yeah and I think it just looks goofy in general. It tries to look too much like a stormtrooper helmet instead of just looking like a Lego stormtrooper helmet

JJL productions, no I prefer the smaller classic ones. They my not technically be more accurate, but I think they look better on minifigures than the newer ones

Interestingly the laser cannons themselves look far better than the 2018 version. At least for me they do.

I ultimately prefer this to the 2018 one. The mechanism itself isn’t under so much tension and doesn’t have a massive rectangular gap for the lever

I'm planning on picking this one up, this review was very informative. Might mod that front landing gear and remove the back ones, but overall, the set looks amazing for the price. Other X-wings have just been prohibitively expensive, so these sacrifices for the lowered price are worth it IMO.

This is way better set than the 2018 version. I think it is pretty sturdy, looking at the other reviews to, overall I think this is my favorite lego star wars set along with the trouble on tatooine set. The reason why I like this set the most is because IT HAS NO RUBBER BANDS! I HATE rubber bands that are in lego sets.

I got this set. I personally like the not dual molded helmet best, I thought the dual molded one was just too oversized. Overall this set is awesome for $50. Love your reviews David!

2018 version was my very first one, and looks like it’ll be my last for a while. I nodded it to be more accurate and that’s just the best part about Lego!

It’s an entry level or army builder set. I see what they’re going for. Most collectors building a display won’t use it as their “hero” ship but it does a solid job on making a kit people can better afford, lego is meant to be for kids after all

Engines are funny because the front parts are less accurate whereas the back looks closer to the real thing than the previous full-priced set with its silly barrels

I still much prefer the 2018 X-Wing. But given the price point, this is still a very nice kit. This would be great for anyone looking to build an army.

You can just get rid of the jumper plates r2 d2 stands on to make him lower it’s a very easy modification

I would get this for General Dodanna & Princess Leia. Great review, I was considering of getting this but I'm not completely sold on it. Putting the price aside, the build feel like its between the junior set and the regular x-wing. The engine looks very chunky, and the S-foils just feels incomplete, and the thrusters seems to come off easily. And R2 sits too high, the the landing gear doesn’t fold.

I consider this an awesome set, really the only thing that would prevent me is r2 sticking up, I usually show my ships flying so I can just take the landing gear off. Other than that, I’d say this is an awesome set

Still very happy with 9493 from 2012. Costed me 36,29 in a store back then. It was a discount but lego has become more and more expensive.

In many ways I prefer this to the 2018 one. I like the technic mechanism cos it means we don't need to rely on rubber bands which put stress on the parts. Also I don't tend to vigorously shake my x-wing or constantly move the wings up and down with my hands so I think the strength of the mechanism will not be a problem. I disassembled my 2018 one to make my own custom x-wing but I kind of hit a roadblock with the front part of the fuselage so I haven't been able to finish it. Hence I don't currently have an x-wing assembled so maybe I'll grab this one for cheap just to put alongside the other Rebel ships.

Yeah, the main reason I'm considering this one is because it ditched the rubber bands for the wings. I've had the 2006 model since it came out and I've had to change the rubber bands several times over the years, even when I display it in landing mode the rubber bands eventually give way after awhile. At least with this version you don't have to worry about that annoyance anymore.

love the set but the only issue for me is the non retractable feet. I want to recreate the death star trench run scene using this set so i might have to remove them altogether. it would look weird to have an x-wing being chased by tie fighter yet still have its landing gear out

In my opinion it's good that the wings fold flat when landing. Think about how much better that is for play for younger kids. You can always build it on a stand if you want to display it in that position, besides, if you're going to display it in 'flying' position, why would you have it sitting on a shelf as if it has landed? The wings do stay open when the X-wing is in the air which is all that matters about that mechanism in my opinion.

The LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set 75301 X-Wing Starfighter seems good 4 it's well affordable price, plus the Minifigure Selection is exquisite. But based on the Build and Appearance of the X-Wing, I do prefer the 2018 version with more pieces and details but therefore 4 more money of course!;)

I prefer the rebel helmet with a printed face with the helmet visor vs over molded helmets, to me the over molded didn’t feel like real Lego. This set on first appearance looks like a MOC to me more than an official Lego Star Wars set. The price is better than it has ever been imho. I bought the Po x wing back when TFA was first coming out and I’ve had to stem back on Lego as a hobby in general because I feel the sets are overpriced.
