The NOT UCS LEGO Star Wars 2021 R2-D2 is a magnificent build. It's a surprisingly major improvent to the 2012 UCS R2-D2 with additional Periscope & Lightsaber features packed into the head, a new printed 50th Anniversary Lucasfilm brick on the display stand, and genius engineering for R2-D2's third leg dropdown feature! The R2-D2 Minifigure is unfortunately unchanged for this set. What do you think of the new Buildable CHaracter R2-D2?

This will be the first UCS set I ever own and I am so excited to pick it up this weekend. I appreciate your work and your channel!! And for those thinking it will be sold out in the first few days, I say it will so definitely go buy it ASAP. I’m getting mine on the first day at a nearby Lego store.

That's cool and i'm happy for you, i'm somewhat in the same position but I don't know if is should get this or the UCS A-wing? The piece difference is around 640pcs which is quite a lot and the price is £180 for both the A-wing and R2D2. I'm a big fan of the model as I liked the original but thought it wasn't something I needed to get and when the initial rumours of a R2D2 remake set came out I was Hype as hell but before that I was eyeing up the A-wing for a while, it would be my first proper UCS set in terms of a ship build, I missed out on the Y-wing from a while back and I don't want the same thing to happen again as I would like to start collecting the Rebel ships for the retail price but I'll have to brick link them anyway as I've got sets from 2013 and older I have to get so... For the price and build I cant really compare them I'd say the R2D2 would be more Recognisable in my house and if shown to friends immediately rather than "oh that's that ship from Star Wars" I honestly don't know what to get and with the summer sets I like a lot being the Mandalorian Starfighter and duel set and the Boba Fett slave 1 plus I would like to pair it with the X-wing and TIE Fighter from earlier in the year. It seems that I should prioritise the summer sets and prior as I would get more bang for my buck and I like getting multiple sets rather than 1 big lump set But both are kind of equal, also the A-wing came out first and might retire sooner than I anticipate that's what happened with the Y-wing in my case so I might have to prioritise that if I can obtain the extra money needed. I'd like additional thoughts pls

It Was A Definite Compromise With The Swivel Head On A Plate As You Said Ryan..... But.... All The Nuances Definitely Make This Build A GREAT Overall Build!! It Would Of Been A VERY Tempting Set For All Collectors If There Was A One-Off R2-D2 In This Set.... But We Can’t Expect Everything.... Right. I’ll DEFINITELY Buy And Enjoy It!! So Lego actually had 0 of these available at minute 1 of the May the Fourth sale beginning May 1. I ordered literally the second it became available and got notice today the order is backordered. How did they not have ANY of this set available online?

Has anyone ever wondered why lego hasn’t made a third leg piece for R2 yet? And maybe even legs with moving feet? If lego can do it in the lego games then there’s no reason why we can’t get it in an official minifig, plus, it would probably add to the playability for an R2 minifig

So I got up this morning to order the R2. Said out of stock but was taking back orders 60 days out. So I got on my car drove to my local Lego Store which is 30 minutes away, stood on line for 1 1/2 hours and they were out of stock. Went back online when I got home and now they are not even taking back orders!! So frustrating.

We deserve a UCS set ngl I've seen some great mocs and ideas it could actually work plus if we got it, it would stay on shelves for a while and sell like hot cakes who wouldn't prefer a more expensive highly detailed version of the Land speeder.
