This set was a great set back then because it had a ton of useful and new pieces (back in the day of course).This was one of my first lego star wars sets (my actual first set was the gungan submarine back in i think 1999), and I loved it because I remember watching Return of the Jedi with my parents and they pointed out every little detail to me back in the day (1997), so I quickly caught on to that 1 original scene of the b-wing. When this came out, i could finally see what the full b-wing looked like, and I was in love with it right away. It definintely has not held up over time in terms of design (and also in terms of condition since i still have this set in my apartment room in my closet with loads of dust on it), but for people who did custom builds back then, this set was golden.

Poor droid would have been roasted by the concussion missile engine blasts if he was put in that compartment! Good thing B-wings don't need astromechs for navigation.

astromechs are used for navigation, energy management and repairs so in truth the B-Wing would be a harder ship to utilise

This was the first set I bought back in 2011 after my dark ages. I no longer display it as the newer B-wings are much more realistic looking but it's still a good little set.

Fun fact: With the trailer detached, the mainanace cart will tip pver due to the weight of the crane arm.

This was my first ever Lego set, i was already a huge star wars fan when i got it, but this was my favorite thing to play with as a child.. i still have it but missing some parts.. one wing i know for sure, also missing the box and the magazine..this is awesome guys

Ah! I remember almost buying this when I was 6, but since I had not liked the earlier Jar Jar Binks set I was gifted, my parents assumed I didn't like Star Wars so they decided not to buy it.

when I took apart my custom 2M repulsor tank and rebuilt this bwing I changed out most of the blue for grey or black pieces, I also added a few imperial insignias on it instead of the orange circles as I couldn't find them lol

I actually think the base is the best part of the set. You don't see some form of control centre with a corridor and sliding doors too often in sets nowadays.

Speaking of askew printing, there's a Mickey Mouse minifig(try saying that 5 times fast) who's eyes are askew to where t looks like he is looking to the side. Sadly, the person who found it is wanting somewhere around $2,500 for it...

I got some of this set (i think) turbo tank (2005) slave 1 (2006) anakins Jedi starfighter (2005) most of arc 170 (2005) and some of the vulture droid (2005) and r4 from the 2005 obi WANs starfighter all for £60 in like 2009 when I came home from school I didn't stop playing with it lol

I know they've done stickers at least back to 1978. I haven't checked to see if they've done any before that. Seems to happen in waves through their history though.

You're right actually, my apologies. I remembered after commenting that I myself owned shiny stickers from old adventure sets. What I meant is that Lego's craze for stickers and their inclusion in almost every set is a recent phenomenon, and details like the screen from this set were typically printed. Making stickers for clear pieces in a very recent thing for Lego, as they've only been doing it for about a decade.

Wow I'm early today. Anyway, LEGO needs to do a new bwing. The 2012 version (in my eyes) wasn't fantastic due to the sfoil opposite the cockpit being studs on top anti studs on bottom. For a ship that's all about changing witch way is up and the angles, ect, it just ruined the effect for me. Plus the cockpit in some reviews (I'm not sure if they just made it incorrectly or what) the cockpit would not work gravity assisted. The ucs one was great, but it wasn't minifigs scale. Only really collect minifig scale builds and it was so close, just a bit big! Ah well I'm sure they'll get round to it
