This set is great. I bought it a few days ago and I could not be happier; the figs are great and the build is quite sturdy. It was my first y wing so I can't compare it to anything but it is just great.

Looking at this set, you can tell LEGO knows the Y-Wing isn't the most popular of the Star Wars vehicles so they put a lot of cool and exclusive Minifigures in order to entice people enough to buy it.

I would recommend this to someone for a set. It has interesting characters, amazing build and it's all for around 50 US dollars. If you looking for a star wars set that's worth the money, I would get this.

Got this set recently. Just found a promo photo which shows that part of Moroff's backpack comes off to make a gun stand. The two brown clips sit on the ground holding the grey axle-holding piece, and then the gun mounts through that.

The “generic” Y-Wing pilot is Jon (Dutch) Vander, and the R3 droid is R3-S1, also called threece.

The pilot is supposed to be a blue squadron member but the helmet is of Gold Nine (and the y-wing itself obviously has the gold squadron colors)

In legends R3 where the ones with the clear domes, they where also sold to military clients, the rebels rarely had them

Great detail for a non UCS set. It's almost like a mini UCS. Great display piece! I'm just not crazy about the minifigs as I'm more of an original trilogy fan.

This is an impressive remake. I have the full white Y-wing and the bomb area is annoying. It would drop bombs from the upper side and you had to pull out the plug to let them drop. This on the other hand is fantastic. I might modify my old Y-wing to fit this mechanism just to see what its like

The y-wing is my absolute favourite Starfighter design. I shall forever refer to it as the "space volvo" or "The everyman's starfighter".

One of my fave sets. As for the Astro mech sideways problem. I think the solution is actually to not try and solve it at all. The solution in my mind is the sets use two astromech heads one for the droid minifig and the other for the vehicle. A hardwired to the vehicle Astromech is actually canon with the Jedi Starfighters. You could also use a turntable tile so the head can rotate and use those humped tiles to represent the "shoulders" of the legs.

I got this set 2 weeks ago and I really love the Moroff minifigure. the engines were so tedious though btw the Aurebesh says Danger

This is probably the best price I've seen for a set this size, let alone with this many figures and with custom alien figures. When I first saw this on Walmart I thought they made a mistake on the pricetag. [Imagine my surprise when there was also a Lego sale going on that I hadn't heard of, got this for $35.]

It is an R3 unit. In - universe, R3 units have translucent domes, as well as upgraded tech to R2 units.

Actually the Y-wing holds four bombs and the fourth one is tricky to load in but with practice I can do it

I got the last one of these in stock from my local walmart. On clearance for 35 bucks. At that price i'm in love with it!

One thing, the Astromech, although maybe with not the y-wing, can be found placed sideways in many ships. Just take that into consideration...

I really enjoyed this y-wing, the pilot, and the astomech you get with this set. The bombing mechanism is cool as well.

I just bought and built this set. It's beautiful and has many 'Salieri' moments of genius in it. The designers seemed to have put a lot of genuine love into this build and it is a pleasure to construct and behold I actually have no criticisms of it. But then again I'm old school. Grew up in the 80s the Y wing was secretly my favourite ship - and the B wing. I really hope lego come back with the B Wing ...

Wish it came with a Jon Vander (Gold Leader) figure, instead of the U-Wing pilot.

It looks impressive. I've never been a huge fan of Y-Wings, or really any Rebel vehicles in general but They just keep getting better and better each year.

Just bought this one! Looking forward to build it tomorrow! Got back to lego a few months ago after 16-17 years of absense, and love it so much! Now when im an adult i can afford to buy the more expensive sets that i did not get when i was a kid. My fiancée is not super excited about my new (old) hobby, but she's started to be less vocal about it now at least. Love your vids jang, i hope to some day get close to the collection you have! That blue technic pin used for the turret on the cockpit is really bothering me. Why can't LEGO just use a light gray pin since it's going to be exposed? The blue looks silly peeking out from the top of the turret...

I passed up buying the Gold Leader Y-Wing a few years back because I figured Lego would end making a better (more accurate) Y-Wing set later. That day has come. Thanks for the review. It was really great the see this set in detail.

Walmart is selling it for like $45. I think that is lower than the original price. Compared to the A-Wing, I feel like it is a good value.

the helmet on the pilot is used by Biggs Darklighter, luke's best friend who leaves tatooine to go to the imperial academy only to defect to the rebellion. he dies on the attack on the death star.

The way lego uses all there pieces to create sets always impresses me, all the clever little combinations of pieces.

There's a misprint between Raddus' legs and the silver prints don't align like they do on the promo pics for the set. I've seen several pics from different reviewers and they all have it, it seems there's a factory issue with that minifig.

I hope we get more gigoran later, there are a few different weapon variants to include. Maybe a battle pack...

I really like that Lego made the spring loaded shooters halfway removable. Gives it both play value and display value without a lot of work.

Ah, I still remember when I had the very first Lego Y-Wing with Vader's Advanced Tie Fighter, they only made a handful of Y-Wings in the past, the Clone Wars version looked pretty awesome in my opinion, this one is still very nice, accurate to even the original trilogy, just a slight update, especially the bomb launcher and the spring-loaded lasers, very nice review!

I have the original 2012 gold leader's y-wing so it's nice to compare the two but I lost gold leader. (Why! I don't even remember what I traded him for. 😞)

The Y-Wing is my most favorite starfighter-type vehicle in all of Star Wars. That fact just makes me want this set *that* much more.

I think admiral raddus is a different color because of his region on his planet I think the lighter/gray colored mom calamari a.m. are from the arctic regions of their planet

I think angry clone has become a bit of an in-joke with LEGO at this point.

Oh man, you made me think that stormtrooper got a new face, I was excited. XD

The Y-Wing pilot is confusing, he's got a blue uniform, which indicates that he's from Blue squadron, the X-wing / Y-Wing fighters that were first to drop down to the surface of scarif, to assist Rouge One, in the movie, before the planetary shields closed. However his helmet conflicts that, as it seems to be very similar to a pilot found both in the final space fight over scarif, in Rouge One, and the Death Star assault scene were he lost his life in a new hope, Gold Leader! Or one of the fighters from his squadron of Y-Wings because they all seem to have similar helmet markings. To recap, unless for a split second in the movie, someone in Blue Squadron did have helmet markings like that, and it was shown quickly, than that's very possible. But I stand by the fact that the helmet bears a striking resemblance to Gold Leaders, who has come in previous lego Y-Wing sets, so it's all up to imagination I guess.

Toys R Us said today they will be on sale on March1st. The Y wing, Yoda's Fighter and Battle on Scariff were on the shelves. The lady there was nice enough to override the computer so I could get one but then had the others taken off the shelves til March 1st.

I've never really liked the y wing but lego has made this beautiful and I think they did a great job

Great set. Great review. I have each version of these ships so far and will not be missing out on this one. You are right about needing this level of goodness applied to the other Rebel Ships. I want to see a Light Grey and Orange Rogue One X-wing soon.

I wasn't completely sold on purchasing this set, but the detail and build looks spectacular! But Jang Admiral Raddus would never lower himself to be a mere crew member! lol Glad they reintroduced the Y-Wing, oh childhood memories!

I really like that y-wing, I get one for christmas for myself and added some more details in the center section and on the sides and I added a hatch for the bomb compartment which was a great idea to do that in my own opinion.

I like the leg printing on Raddus. It can be useful outside a star wars setting

This LEGO Star Wars Y-Wing Starfighter is One of the best sets ever made from Rogue One this vehicle was in the Movie Stars Wars Episode 4 5 and 6. This new set is the best out of all Nice Review Jang.

I swear the "Cocky/Terrified Rebel Pilot" has become the new Angry Clone for Lego. It would be nice of they had two or three variations for the generic pilots, just like what they do with the generic ground soldiers. Can't wait for you to review the A-Wing later next year!

This is legitimately the only Star Wars set I'm interested in for this season's wave. I'm guessing Summer 2017's will be Episode VIII sets. I hope they bring out a Finalizer. Lego needs to make more Star Destroyers.
