LEGO Technic Bomb Disposal Robot -- 19 motors!

A LEGO technic bomb squad robot built with 6 SBrick's, 19 motors, a laser, light's and an electromagnet.
I've actually seen an EOD robot defuse an IED and the live saving job they do in army's and police forces around the world has always fascinated me, so I decided to build one!
I love complex robotics, but to build something like this proved to be a challenge!
I really wanted to use the 2 interlocking geared rings as a basis for the 2 main arms, but that scaled up the size of this MOC drastically.
To be able to power every lego power functions motor and sbrick I ended up using 5 lego PF battery boxes!
I have to admit the addition of the electromagnet does not add a whole lot to the build, I just had it laying around and still had 2 free channels on my 6th SBrick :-P

DISCLAIMER: the bomb used in this video is not an actual explosive device, it's just a home made dummy made of 2 empty plastic pipes and a cooking alarm (obviously).

This is a real technique, It's a controlled detonation. You transport the bomb to a location where it's damage will me minimized and set it off with another explosive.🙂

All the vehicles you build you should contact Lego and work out a deal to sell them as a kit. They are great... or at least make an instruction manuals so other Lego fans can build them. I know easier said then done lol. Tank is my favorite so far, I would buy it :-).

Well, those kits would go well over a 1000$ in parts alone so it's not really realistic financially... and the tank is definetly not happening because lego doesn't release "modern war" related sets (futuristic war or middle ages war is fine somehow though...😅).

Lego Technic Mastery No. Only thing that matters is how many motors are going to be used at same time, so battery box fuse don't go off.

Wahaha! It's even worse than that It's 2 pvc pipes painted silver! 😂 I'm actually ex-military and I've been trained to work with explosives. Yeah, I could build a real one but it would be unsafe and unnecessary (and probably illegal in my country).

On second thought, I think it's even more than entertainment - it's inspiring. I can make others want to learn and do similar clever (and amazing) things. But I still think it's really nice not just to show the world "Look how clever I am", but to help others go after you. I appreciate your reply. What do you think?

Well, I've done some how to video's and they are getting very little views and they cost loads of time to make. I use like 18 motors in this build so even if I went through the enourmous efford(200+ hours minimum) of making an instruction manual almost no one has the parts to build it. And I doubt a lot of people will go out and buy 1000€+ worth of parts just to build this MOC. The same goes for all my builds so I've come to accept that my work is best left as entertainment and inspiration to others. I wish it was different but I think you see what I mean😉

Wow! 200+ hours and 1,000+EUR parts? That's really inspiring!! I didn't think it's that's hard and demanding hobby! I just do my first steps in Arduino+Lego trains, traffic lights, etc. Wanted to think it's much more simple and affordable to do such great things, if you're talented and have the right motivation... Isn't it so?
