To quote Dalek Bricks on Ashnflash's video on this set, "But the same thing happened with Doctor Who - a similar company made building sets in 2014 yet we still got an Ideas set in 2015. Not out of the question." So, there's still a good chance Lego The Office could happen. Fingers crossed.

To be fair, the build doesn't suck, I think a good idea is get the instructions, Bricklink all the pieces (Actual LEGO, of course) and build the model, then get some custom minifigs

Hansel Herrera well, it was a knockoff until the 1950s whenall the brick companies preceding Lego faded away and Lego became the world-dominant brand and objective best. So yes, it WAS a knockoff, 70 years ago, now it’s the leading brand

Yea the set doesn’t look like complete dog dick. The minifigs and overall quality could be better, but the layout is pretty decent

@RellivaRaven it isn't a rip off. It would be a rip off if LEGO already had released that particular set. All we have here is a company that does sets that lego doesn't do with bricks that are similar to theirs. There is nothing wrong about that. LEGO didn't invent that kind of brick either.

I think it’s actually still quite likely to happen. Lego recently got licenses for Trolls and Minions (who recently were licensed to Mega Bloks), which like the Office are NBCUniversal properties. This crappy set was likely in the works long before the Ideas project was approved. I’m sure given the chance, NBCU would much prefer to give lego the license to do this right.

this is not lepin jesus christ... other companies are allowed to do bricks like that and that´s a good thing. the set is not a 1:1 copy of a LEGO set (main problem with lepin) but the bricks are similar and compatible which is perfectly fine for customers AND the market. What you do here is basically the same thing as if you´d say "That Samsung / One Plus / HTC / Nokia smartphone is basically an IPhone. Thats just trash"

The worst part about this is that it's officially licensed. That means, NBC _saw_ that there was interest in a LEGO set for The Office and expedited the process for them to have one done by the Holiday Season. Problem is, people don't want a building set of The Office, they want a _LEGO_ The Office set. Now the license is off the table, because no one did their research, and we all suffer for it.

I think you were a little too harsh on it, i'm a lego moc builder and i personally don't think this is bad and it should not be bashed so much, it doesn't seem to me as garbage and the figures don't look that bad. It's obvious we would all prefer to see a lego set but man it's the game, if they got the liscence first they can do whatever they want

I8pT yes I agree! Even though Mega Construx feels different then lego, they make quite high quality pieces and they do Halo and Call Of Duty sets, something Lego will never do.

These are still selling on eBay for like $25-$30, but phatmojo has taken it off their site. There is a link that has the office logo but when you click on it there's just nothing, so at least they're not selling them any more. I would love to see LEGO do this right.

I bought it for the figures and realized they are completely different than the box art. I got a message back after 3 days saying I got some early demo figs and not the actual ones. They said in 3 weeks they would send me the actual figures. We will see.

I bought this set with my daughter. We are both big fans of the office. We had a great time making it. We are not into 'Legos' so I guess we didn't have a snotty attitude towards this set. We certainly didn't think it was garbage. It was fun to make and it was a cute set with some fun details matching the actual show. Perhaps it introduced us to the world of Lego.

If lego made it like a modular building theme, I think it would be good. There would be the outside of the building, and you could take the top of the see the interior.
