I got the train fired up! It feels great to see it ripping around the city! To get it going I had to whip up 8 more ballast segments of track. In addition to the ballast segments I also build some road plates for the residential area.

I think the roads take up too much space. Perhaps making each block 3x3 modular size? Then you could use the middle sections for green spaces. Also have you considered having buildings on the edges instead of road. It just seems like a lot of table space is used up by road and rail

Make sure to leave room for a Zoo expansion with the animals in the new city jungle sets. Gorillas, Tigers, Red Pandas. I would suggest expanding to the back, behind the aquarium since you already have walkways on either side of it. Also you should pick up a baby Polar Bear and the newer adult and baby Seals. Maybe the Friends Seals you have can be repurposed as stuffed animals in the gift shop since they look a little cartoonish.

Maybe install. Camera mount by the utility room area. It’s a great angle for time lapse stuff. Even a permanent cheapo camera permanently living there and timelapsing every day would be kind of neat. You could see your daily progress if you wanted.

I was thinking to myself while you were zooming trough the city with the train: "Oh he really should test that curve to see if the train would derail at high speeds"... I laughed so bad when you show'd it on the floor! I guess thats the beauty of the warehouse. A controlled space where you can let this kinda stuff happen. No pieces under sketchy stuff. Easy to rebuild anywhere.. Man, you should host a "LEGO CITY TRAIN JUMP CHALLENGE 2024" right on that straight. You better do it right now while the table is still empty! That would be fun. With a crowd of mini figs to watch it. Please do it!

Maybe you should put the bicycle lane next to the train track in the downtown area. Sidewalks don’t usually go beside train track. Just a suggestion, don’t take it too seriously

for the residential area + downtown on the side of the pavement/pedesterian walkway you can add some trees etc (unless these are planned for later) since i think they'll add to the city, and perhaps you can use different road layouts found in european cities & elsewhere rather than the generic grid layout like many north american cities use

You definitely don’t have to do this but I would put a one way road on either side of the canal to connect those blocks up in the CBD, then have a small pedestrian walkway next to it. Or make the pedestrian walkway necto to the canal big enough so that theoretically an emergency vehicle can drive thru that area so they don’t have to go all the way around the block

Your switch track next to the zoo is wrong. Straights are main lines, it needs to be a left hand siding switch not the right hand one that you have. Great layout tho.

Bricksie, is there a way you can shift your harbour from ---- to I I I, I ask this because if you redo your trainyard correctly, then you can let your trains run onto the docks and be loaded/unloaded, straight from the ships. Unless you go //// for that section, for the heck of it. The bonus is that you might be able to fit the trainyard building, between two docks, in terms of track layout. The main problem would be requiring some non lego switch tracks in order to keep things compact enough. Also, do you think you can figure out a second track layout? Bonus if you can make the country line, double tracked. Use the mountain, really use it. Can you put a climbing railtrack around a standing hole? Because if so, one visible climbing track on the mountain, going QSV. Yes, make something you can use a second line, so the moment your L-line is back, you have three tracks, that could be connected with each other, if so wanted. As for your Bricklink Station, could it's two trains be re-used for this new L-line? Or are they going to become your Metro Liner?

I was going to talk about how a Canadian team winning it all will never happen as long as Bettman is running the NHL, but the city and the train are far more entertaining. It looks like you have enough surfacing for the remaining sidewalk areas to be completed now. 🙂

Are you using the original IR controls for that train, or are you using the new Powered up system? If you use the new Powered Up system and have a laptop with a Bluetooth connection, you can use the program "Brick Automation Project" to control multiple Powered Up hubs at once, meaning you can run several trains *and* motorize the amusement park without worrying too much about signal interference. Its also a great way to run multiple hubs on one train, in case you have an extra long train and need to compensate for the weight of the extra cars. There's also another program out there that works with the Powered Up systems and works better for large layouts with multiple trains, but I can't remember the name of it. I do remember that it uses color sensors and plates on the tracks to create "blocks" that function like IRL train lines though, and lets you completely automate everything about the trains (speed, start/stop, waiting) and if you put motors and hubs on the switch tracks, it can track and control those too.
