The actual point of the video was to get all the pro Cobi viewers from continuously criticizing me every time a do a Brickmania or brickveteran video… hence the last line of the video.

This isn’t even a comparison video. In Cobi you’re comparing a mass produced toy aimed at covering the spread of the market from young upstart builders to adult collectors, versus a custom made model that’s insanely overpriced and isn’t even aimed at the adult market, rather it’s aimed at a sub category of the adult market: adults with considerable disposable income. In truth, there is no question which is better from the item you chose here and it’s Cobi by an absolute mile.

I ❤ Cobi, but I built my first Lego set in decades earlier this year, and could not believe the brick quality. If it had not shipped from Lego itself I would have assumed it was counterfeit. Just much lower quality plastic being used.

Any deficiencies in Cobi are offset by the price point. Those 3rd party Lego sets cost ten times as much as a Tamiya model kit. For less than half the price of those Lego sets you could buy a pre-built RC model of a Super Hornet that actually flies. There is no quality in this world high enough to convince me to spend $1,300 on something that just sits on my shelf looking nice. I'm glad these companies are available and that people enjoy them, but I thought it might be helpful to put those prices in perspective. If you want Top Gun: Maverick stuff on your shelf, third party Lego isn't just the most expensive option, it's astronomically more expensive. Even the $600 or so the creator ended up spending is significantly more than most other options. I can't help but see it as three times the quality for ten times the price when compared to Cobi.

In my opinion cobi is a nice alternative if you can’t afford all the third party brands, so far I only have the cobi Huey set and F16D set. Overall all I gotta say is that I had fun building them they gave me that nostalgia feeling of building a Lego but now I can build something more my style which is military vehicles

Ain’t no way in hell I would spend a thousand dollars on a lego set if I could get something similar for 12 percent the price Plus the cobi sets look a lot less janky when compared to lego built ones, especially some of the tanks

Its an interesting question... should it look brick built or model like? Several times I've been surprised by cobi when you see a model and then told it is actually brick built. Do we want display pieces to look like mini land at legoland style, I'm not sure. Cobi is great value for what it is. I can get my kids military building system and make all that history come.alive at an affordable price? Would i drop a grand and do that with other 3rd party... probably not. Be interested for your further take in cobi in the future

Cobi is something I would allow my kids to buy.. but then again.. their sets always break down and filter into their collection.... I wouldn't want COBI bricks mixing in. Their pieces are actually pretty good.. I was impressed. They have some interesting and very useful ones too! Pieces I wished LEGO would make. Either way. you can't beat their prices.

Its great hour trying them out. They also have licensees to Citron, world of warships and world of tanks. Since i bought their sabaton Primo Victoria tank. Great to give another brand a try with this comparison.

nobody mentions the designers or the time and effort that goes into Lego they just use that as a way to convince themselves Brickmania kits are worth it when you can just buy Brickmania instructions instead and spend 4x less the price

There can never be enough Top Gun! Cobi is cool, got all of their Top Gun sets as well, but I will always go LEGO authentic kits. Yes, I have the means to do so and am thankful for that so I would recommend Cobi to those wanting affordable military sets.

The sets are (mostly) all built at 1/35 scale using blueprints. Sometimes minor allowances are made to make a technique work or improve shaping although I'm not aware of anything specific on the F/A-18E/F. To check the scale's accuracy you'd just have to check the measurements of the set and the regular plane. In regards to scale to the minifigure - the figures definitely aren't 1/35. They're obviously missing their knees and scaled like 600lb people or something so they're always going to be much too short. Even at 1/35 - they're still too wide. 1/35 is just used because it mostly works with the figures and it's arguably the most popular modeling scale going back to WWII.

I know a lot of veterans in real life and respect them even know of some WW2 ones and also a Korean War veteran a Marine that fought in the Chosen Reservoir. He was one of the lucky ones to escape. I dunno.....I am kinda envious of the BKM stuff, but not so much that I'm willing to shell out that kinda money. I have really enjoyed the WW2 Cobi tank kits I've assembled (and augmented with BKM minifigs and BrickArms MGs). They are super sturdy (unlike my Xingbao and Panlos tanks), I'm pretty sure I could bludgeon someone to death with them. That said....I'm six months from retirement from the Army and I'm totally building that Brick Vault Missouri.

Man I love me some of the Cobi sets just because as a veteran myself Lego does not do military sets. I am a sucker for either. If the price is right and the model looks right. I will buy it no questions ask. I currently have 6 Cobi sets and I enjoy looking at all of them. I also like the fact that you cant see studs.

Don't wanna be 'that guy', but unfortunately I am, so: the footage you used when talking about the Brick Veteran kit's scale was of a LEGACY Hornet, not a Super Hornet. The Super Bug is about 15% larger in every dimension, making the kit's scale more true to life.

When you showed the real life hornet footage I think that is not a super hornet, it’s a legacy hornet, which is smaller than the super hornet by 20 percent or so

Jestem Polką i zwyczajnie cieszę się że reszta świata docenia Cobi za ich świetną robotę. Jestem z tą firmą od dziecka i widzę jak ogromnie poprawiła się ich jakość. Totalnie potrzebowałam wojskowych zestawów i moim marzeniem jest współpraca Cobi z producentami Ace Combat. Nawet nie wiedziałam że są firmy zewnętrze, które sprzedają własne autorskie zestawy z klocków lego. Wiemy że polityka Lego jest totalnie antywojskowa (co nie przeszkadza im robić zestawów wojskowych na licencji filmów). I tak, dobrze że Cobi zrezygnowało z naklejek bo one po czasie odklejały się i wyblakły. Edit. Bardzo dobrze że Cobi robi zestawy, które są równie dobre dla dziecka i dla kolekcjonera. Jedyne wadą w moich oczach jest to, że dużo nowoczesnych samolotów z Cobi nie ma pełnowymiarowych figurek. Pod tym względem Lego jest na plus

Appreciate the comparison and the point about Cobi trying to be too lifelike. It’s why I don’t always agree with criticisms of visible studs on official Lego models. Studs and pixelation are part of the essence of the toy. The challenge is creating something that looks lifelike with the handicap of a rigid palette. Cobi uses too many specialized parts to achieve realistic shapes, taking away from the ingenuity of the design challenge. That said, I think it’s awesome they’re intentionally choosing to go about model making in a different direction. From all accounts they seem to create a very professional product with a lot of heart. I hope they get big enough to challenge Lego.

Growing up poor i would have loved Cobi. I did love lego and had sets sometimes even. Starwars line has always been my favourite. Lego StarWars tops human star wars all day every day. But. If Cobi sets existed or were as amazing they are today. Oh boy i would have loved to have them in the place of my three precious Star Wars sets. You can get so much more for the same amount of money. I like thinking of it as Lego for poor kids. 'cause it would have been perfect for me when i was one. But. Frankly. It's much more too. Cobi has a lot of sets lego will never have. Can't have. We are lucky there are private licensed Lego studios that can make military. And others. Things that are off limits for a company like Lego. Also those electronic lookalikes. Got an IBM PCjr set and i love it very much. Can't get them as sets any more but the maker released all of his instructions for free after he got a job at Lego. And. Oh boy that's also a thing i love about Lego. Some of the flower sets are his, others too but since Lego does not usually tell who is the designer it's hard to tell.

Simple… they’re so realistic… with some of their special pieces like the nose of the jet… that they no longer look “brick built,” instead they look like a “die-cast model.” Which in turn loses the charm.

@@SHYTIMEismyTIME I think that's their intent, to have the same/equal experience to the building a Lego set with bricks, but also to have a realistic outcome too. the building experience is important too. I just found it weird that i lost the category because "it looked like a diecast", because you make it sound like there was barelly any building in this set, like it was a pre-made model... This is exactly why i like Cobi, they are trying to make the finished model look smooth and not too stubby, but that's just mine opinion

In terms of instructions, Lego has better instructions, however, in terms of models in some areas Kobe can be better but Lego is better at keeping it consistent scale. Where is Kobe? Cannot keep it consistent.

I totally agree. Cobi looks like toy model as opposed to made out of bricks. They have too many specialized elements as opposed to having to figure it out a clever way to make those angles from existing Lego parts. That's mainly why I only stick to Lego even though Cobi, Megablox etc make some really kool sets.

Not true, for instant I'm comparing with Lego's City Airport Passenger Terminal, it's impossible to build (without buying such a set) with existing Lego parts.

Cobi has some really interesting parts that LEGO doesn't. Pieces that would be so useful. Still.. sometimes... the sets from afar do look like diecast models.

Cobi is what bought me back into building. CV-6 USS Enterprise. Yamato, Prinz Eugen and AU-1 Corsair stashed away for Christmas.

Quality is on par with Lego and the parts make so much more sense. Lego has to cater for a wide range of styles so probably has way more specialised pieces than Cobi.

I can respect Cobi for being the company to make legoish military sets for those with a budget and want something lego military. The problem I have is the same that you have; the sets start to not look like legos and look dye casted. Which is a problem when you're specifically looking for "lego" military sets. Because if it looks more like a dye caste model than a lego built toy it looses its competitive cheap pricing to basic looks of the model. This is why I don't have a Lego F-14 yet. The Brickmania and Brick Veteran's are too expensive ( Brickmania just came out at the time of this comment a new F-14D model at over 1k and they got rid of their original F-14 digital instructions.) and Cobi is just...Cobi. On a plus side to Cobi they're Polish, so...yeah for not being a cheap chinese copycat of Brickmania.

As an aviation fan, BKM and BV are exponentially better in overall quality than Cobi. Cobi is solid and has some ok shaping but lacks detail, accuracy and consistency
