Quick sidenote: I think it can be quite beneficial to make small shorts like this every now and then. I've proven to myself that I always learn something new in the process. This time I learned to code a custom Addon with it's own panel and button purely to subdivide all of the pieces used in this video (main characters & props) I also did a test on some custom materials as well

Try to use practical lights. Place them in a way that always creates a light to dark contrast on your subjects. If youre in an outdoor scene like I was in here, i placed the sun on a dramatic angle. If I’m not mistaken, the angle sometimes even changed just to make it look good😅, but i don’t remember. Also, if practical lights aren’t enough, i usually light my subject with an area light. I did that for some of the closeup shots in this vid :)
