"The Uruks turned North East....They're taking the Hobbits to Isengard!"
Today we're continuing our comprehensive guide on the Fellowship with the Elven Prince of Mirkwood himself, Legolas Greenleaf, son of King Thranduil and a major player in the events of the War of the Ring. His keen eyes, and unprecedented skill with a bow and arrow make him a truly formidable opponent and invaluable to his fellow companions brought to life on the big screen by Orlando Bloom.
This model is comprised mainly of autumnal colours which reflect the style of Mirkwood and feel very natural in both hue and tone. Here we will be using a wide variety of greens and browns in different ways to bring life to this hero of Middle Earth. We will also explain in detail, step by step how to highlight the tunic and cloth in such a way that looks realistic yet elegant as all elves should.
With subtle contrasting tones for other areas of the model this detailed guide will show you every step to creating a beautiful, elegant and formidable unit for the tabletop.
This painting method will work for any sculpt of LEgolas you happen to have, we've decided to use the original metal Fellowship sculpts as these have a special place in our hearts personally, the only difference will be the elven cloaks which we will most certainly be covering in a later guide.
Stay tuned next week as we plan on expanding either our Two Towers series or continuing with our Return of the King series....Who knows, you might even get a bearded wonder next week, even we dont know for sure!
We hope you enjoy and as always.
Happy Hobbying!

I painted the whole Fellowship when I was 14 and was really pleased with them. But I have now (19 years later) gone back over them and the difference was insane.

Same here. I ve started painting in 1996 and quit 1999. but after I bought „Journey through Middleearth“ I decided to paint the whole palette of figures. And now I have the same fun like it’s 1996 :D

For those that want the orange fletching on the arrows (I've looked at some movie props), I have a nice looking recipe. Basecoat with Trollslayer Orange (don't worry, it'll be fine). Wash with Darkoath Flesh or Agrax Earthshade if you don't have that. Finally a dot highlight with Ratskin Flesh (try to make small strokes to give the feathers some texture). It makes Legolas stand out on the table with a little bit of extra colour.

Thank you for the alternate recipe here! We tend to blindly do ours the same way and forget theyre not all like that in the films haha

@@PlanetMithril Great video. I am using it to paint Legolas from The Three Hunters set. The face is hard to get right, still looks a little wonky but practise! You briefly mention in the video just after finishing the face and before the hair - do the eyes in Abaddon Black and Pallid Wych Flesh. Would you consider a Blue instead of Abaddon Black? Onto Gimli next!
