Re. the field of view, I see a difference in positioning...on the left side, with M11, there is more space beyond the tree, where as with the Q3, it is closer to the tree...that could explain the difference in coverage of the house on the right side. My 2 cents.

I purchased a Q3, as I wanted images in focus as a priority over critical sharpness..

We need t understand the key differences and scenario between the two case 1 you're a new Leica photographer, have no M, a Q3 will bring you a compelling option with AF and Macro/proxy on top a great starter kit for a wide variety of application case 2 you're an casual Leica photographer have one M, buying the lens alone is good option but choosing the Q3 will bring you a second camera that would complement another focal on your M case 3 you're an experienced multi M user if AF is not the issue you might be better with the Lens on one of your existing M on top of another, the long term usability is likely superior, Q3 a good option but M is another level

In personally went for the Q3. Really enjoyable for me personally.

I have both 28 lux and q3. I feel the 28 lux is crazy sharp, more character and definitely is ny favorite of the two. Though the Q3 is so convenient to use with autofocus and silent leaf shutter. For most fast run and gun I lean onto the Q3 and if I want to slow down and compose to perfection i use the lux 28 on film or the monochrom M11

I bought a Q instead of the LUX 28, because I could get a many extra functions. But it turned out, that the Q isn't 'my' camera, so it went on sale again. Instead, I got an Elmar-M 3.8/24 for my MP240. BTW: the M11-P is weather sealed too, but the M lenses aren't. The tilt screen on the Q3 is a big plus, but I'm sure, we'll see it on the M12P too, because it's also on the SL3. Nice review. Keep on rolling.

The lens generally depreciates more slowly than the camera body, and can be re-adapted to newer camera bodies. Unless auto focus is needed the M + 1.4 would be a better investment.

The M is in a class of its own.

I know the purple can be fix but it’s kinda annoying to see in a 7k+ lens. For size and performance I m leaning toward the 28 cron or elmarit

2 different systems. The M has a higher learning curve for most people. I use my M10M with a 28 cron for all my street work. I use my Q2 for fun and vacation travel camera. My high end point and shoot. I use the SL2 & now the SL3 with the SL28APO for absolute perfection in rendering. Cannot be matched by the M or Q in total perfection

excellent ibis，decent autofocus yet very good manual foucs exprience, evf, flash sync. yes I know sl3 got fancy apo lenses but it's much bigger and heavier. i hope Q series would introduce 40 or 50mm someday, and Q series is my go to choice in the whole leica family.

In terms of of sharpness I would factor the image stabilization in the Q3. I did side by side and was surprised at first with the M being softer and it was dude to shutter speed being a bit too lower

I’ve heard that q2/3 lens is only good because of on camera image correction.

I’m a 28 guy. Had a Q and M246, but eventually went to 28mm Cron v1 and M10m and M10r. Now I want to upgrade that 28. I shoot street. So… a 28 Cron v3 or Lux?

is it possible to use a filter on the Q3 and screw the lens hood over it?

Just look at the focus throw. M11 with 28mm: There is lots of space between 2 meters and infinity, also the 3 and 5 meters marking are on the lens. This is a true manual focus lens. Q3 with 28mm: There is so little space between 2 meters and infinity, and there is no 3/5 meters marking. Yes you can do manual focus on this lens, but it's not designed with manual focus in mind. It's a toy regarding manual focus. This alone, is enough reason keeping me from buying the Q3. Leica is cheating on you, making you believe that you have an almost identical 28mm lens on Q3, but it's far from it. Any serious manual focus lens from Leica has a much better DoF marking than the 28mm on Q3. 2 meters and boom.... to infinity, are you kidding me, Leica? Do not make a toy DoF marking on the Q, if you are not serious about providing manual focus ability.
