Thank you for this review! I feel the film images taken with the MP with this lens shows a lot more character. Wonderful review!

This lens has a distinct vintage character. I’m curious how my modern 28 Elmarit lens will perform compared to this. Please stay tuned for that video coming soon.

I generally prefer film. I shoot a Leica M6 and Hasselblad, but I've actually never shot Ektar 100. I have a box of Ektar 120 rolls in the freezer waiting for the opportunity. I think your comparison here is not quite fair. The M 11 images look flat to me, and I think with processing, they could look much better. Better than film? I think that's subjective. I'd be interested in m11 Monochrom vs film B&W. The monochrom is really the only digital camera I desire, but I wouldn't throw out an M11 if given to me 😅 It's been a while since I've seen your videos (algorithm), but i tried on a silver dial datejust today, and had me thinking between that and the slate everose, and your video came up upon searching this evening (not this video) but anyway, the silver is much better in person than I thought. I've only briefly seen the everose (with the romans) on my SA, and it looked stunning! I even told her so, but I didn't ask her to try it on, ha ha. Tough choice, I'm thinking one datejust to wear daily for the rest of my life. I thought it was going to be black sticks or white romans, but the silver really spoke to me. Now I'm also wondering about slate/everose.

I remember you, but I haven't corresponded with you in a long time. There is quite a lot to unpack in your latest comment. True, my M11 images were flat and straight out of camera, without editing, But So were the analog images -- no editing. My goal was to compare digital vs analog, both without editing, With processing, yes, either option could look better, or more closer to each other. Which one looks better WITHOUT editing? That is subjective. Unfortunately, I do not own a Monochrome camera and probably never will. I hope the ytb algorithm is not suppressing my videos, but subscribing would help alleviate that. IMO, the silver dial DJ or black or white dial DJ is classic, and it will last you a lifetime. This should be a first Rolex. The slate everose is more of a 2nd or 3rd Datejust. Good, but not quite as timeless or versatile. My very first Rolex purchase was the white dial Datejust in 2003, and this has stayed with me for the past 21 years.

@sc1 I'm not trying to be confrontational, but I don't understand the point of comparing film images with digital files straight out of the camera. Digital files are linear and are designed to be processed for a look. Fim already has that look baked to some degree by way of emulsion and chemical process. My thoughts anyway. Do you have a scanner? I use a lightroom olug in for my film scan where you have more control of the look of your film scans vs. what a lab gives you. I can't think of the name of the software, i haven't had my coffee yet 😅

I just remembered the software... negative lab pro. It can work as a plugin within Lightroom. I have two film scanners, a Minolta Dimage 5400, which is fantastic, then I later got the Nikon coolscan 9000 because I wanted medium format capability. This way, I have more control over what labs generally send.

I'm a beginner, with film and digital. I know I could develop my skills with editing the DNG files. It seems like I could spend hours with each image, trying to perfect it. But Film has that certain Magic, where the initial product I receive, often does not need any further edits. I doesn't require me to sit down and further manipulate the image. I just like the "look" of the analog image. For now, I am letting the film lab have full control over the final image, as I do not have any equipment at home. I make my YT videos partly for my own sake. To show me what my watches look like from a 3rd party perspective. And Showing me my film images compared to my unedited digital images, tells me what kind of additional editing is needed for my RAW files, and helps me decide if it it worth it.

It’s a beautiful film. I like shooting it at the beach,m. I love gold 200 too, especially in 120 format. They definitely bring different vibes.

I ride my bike 3000 miles a year and take thousands of pictures with my iPhone 14. What other camera could I use while on my bike rides and even taking pictures while riding.

You might consider the Ricoh GR IIIx, or Leica is rumored to release the D-Lux 8 this summer. Both would be a high quality, compact, point&shoot, digital camera for travel.

@@sc1 I recently retired from shooting weddings after 14 years. Now I shoot film for personal work. Been shooting film for many years. Film is unlike digital. Whereas, with digital you have to protect your highlights. With film you have to overexpose to get more detail in the shadows otherwise the image looks muddy. So error on overexposing. Good luck
@sc1
@sc1 3 ай бұрын
@@joseuribe430 I learned that the hard way. I now overexpose 1 Stop on my film MP, and I’m careful to protect highlights on my digital M11.
