i've noticed another 'problem' when setting that button to AEL. when the button is set to digital zoom or AFL, and you half press the shutter, the aperture blades close to the chosen aperture. that gives you a depth of field preview before you fully shoot. but with the button set to AEL, the blades stay wide open even in the half-press preview. so you don't get a depth of field preview. so i leave that button on digital zoom and ignore it.

Hello Alan! Thanks for stopping by. True the huge sensor makes big files but you can still chose a smaller JPEG resolution to save space and not lose too much on quality. DNG files are heavy thought, that's true. I totally hear you on Fuji and I have every single X100 series iteration. I think they are different beasts for different purposes but you can definitely get similar results with both. Take care!

Really hard to say! They are IMO very different beasts. The M is more for taking your time (rangefinder) and for the pleasure of taking the shot itself. The Q is more of a modern, fixed lens, all around purpose camera. Both AMAZING cameras - but not the same type so really hard to tell u. Depends on your type of photography also. Take care

Yes - and I SAID SO! But it is not a DEDICATED one (which I also said!). I didn’t say you cat assign it to the digital zoom button (I actually said that in the video) I said it is either or and that IS annoying (what if you want to use both buttons frequently- you can’t). So y’a, again, not a deal breaker for me but not so excited about it.

Hello, thanks for stopping by and for your question! All the photos you see in this video are straight out of the camera, which means I did not edit any in post 😀 There is an auto mode for everything (not a scene recognition - but auto will handle pretty much any scene and situation you fine yourself in). I normally like to shoot in aperture priority mode so I chose the depth of field but otherwise the rest can all be set auto. And you also have the foto app which allows you to immediately see, download and share your photos 🤩 Take care!

@@cris_photography Wow, impressive that all your magnificent photos were SOOC and the only setting you did was choosing the aperture! That's very reassuring for such a beginner like me. I'd rather spend my time learning about photo composition and experimenting with different angles, rather than with complicated manual settings. $5000 is a lot, but if one can take similar photos as yours almost in auto mode with no post-processing thats a good investment! Thanks Russell 😊 the Q does have a touch screen, you’re absolutely right. In terms of max sync speed tho, it only goes up to 1/500 vs 1/2000 for the Q2. Take care!

Using the crop mode you can get a 30mp 35mm framing. Not the same - I know - but that’s an ok workaround. Take care!

Hello Mark, funny you mention the 100V as I was going to mention it in the video but didn't in the end. I think the 100V is cheaper in terms of construction but it has a hybrid OVF/EVF making it very interesting and fun to use. I use Fuji as my main professional work brand so I can say that the results are amazing. That being said, the Leica lens is fantastic, the JPEG SOOC are really good and the IBIS and WR is a great addition. They are both great but if you want the Leica quality be it in terms of body construction, lens and/or image quality, I think the Q2 is the way to go.

You can map the digital zoom button to it, but you then lose the digital zoom function. In other words, there is no DEDICATED button but you can map one. Cheers
