Directed by Leigh Whannell, "Upgrade" follows Grey Trace (Logan Marshall-Green), a man who has become paralyzed and lost his wife after a brutal mugging. While still recovering from the shock of the attack, Grey is approached by a billionaire inventor with an experimental cure that will "upgrade" his body. The cure - an Artificial Intelligence implant called STEM - gives Grey physical abilities beyond anything experienced and the ability to relentlessly claim vengeance against those who murdered his wife and left him for dead.

Logan was mind blowingly fantastic at playing a human trying to be cool & let go & let a chip use his body to do things he'd never done. All throughout the movie I kept thinking "omg he is SO GOOD", "oh shit that was ballistic, so good", "omg I don't think anyone else has ever done this stuff so well". Just kudos kudos kudos to Leigh & Logan. The movie also didn't faff around dancing around dialogue or reveals. Stuff happened & was revealed without forcing the audience to sit through annoying useless suspense. Everything was perfectly in its place & the ending was perfectly not rushed, but quick. This movie is one of the best in every category, ever created. Leigh's genius isn't even fully realised. *gush*

great movie! a director in peak shape showing how to handle a budget, specially with the cinematography and soundtrack! LM-G is fearless as always, as underrated as the movie itself!!

Upgrade is one of the few movies that could have a sequel imo. Ex Machina was a pretentious commentary on artificial intelligence. Upgrade is an atmospheric and fun action film. It knows what it is and it doesn't try to be anything else. Its like The Raid. I think a sequel would be fine.

Upgrade provides a more compelling and real vision of the future of AI than Ex Machina, imo. It also is more thrilling on a visceral level. That's not to detract the brilliance of Ex Machina. I just think Upgrade, as a piece of intelligent pulp entertainment, has more bang for its buck.

Just watched Upgraded. What a masterpiece! I didn't know I already saw Logan Marshal -Green in other movies! Now thinking back, I saw him in Devil, Prometheus and Invitation. Great actor! Hope he gets the recognition he deserves very soon!

One of my favorite sci-fi movies ever!! It never gets old. Logan should have been recognized/nominated for his portrayal of Grey. He was fantastic rotating through the many emotional aspects of Grey's ill-fated life, and his robotic body mannerisms were so on point. He made this movie fantastic!!

This movie was original. I’m happy Leigh didn’t shy away about how it was inspired by the terminator but open about the fact that though it’s creative, you don’t always have to reinvent the wheel.

Great interview. I rarely care about the interviewer but he nailed it. Excellent flow of interesting questions and brought Logan in with an interesting question on acting the part at the right time.

This would warrant a sequel if there's a spin to this but the story should be set years after the end of this movie. The phsychological underpinnings of a sentenient microchip moving up in the world world.

A great spin on the sequel or Edition would be for stem to create some form of algorithm or engineered serum ( with the help of actually being connected to the internet and grabbing from all sources all over the world in the science and medical fields) that would keep Logan from aging or dying. And that he has lived nearly seventy or eighty years from the end of the last movie and is only slightly older. And also has upgraded Logan with cybernetics ( defensive and offensive systems) his eyes, ears.. upgrading his strength..etc

I only saw this movie yesterday and totally loved it. It's a gem!! Like Whannell says, they have to compete and fight with the big boys. I didn't even know about this movie in 2018 and even if I knew about it, I dunno how much it would've interested me just by watching a trailer. Advocacy/Word of mouth is the biggest weapon for these kinda movies. I discovered Saw or Invitation or Upgrade because people who watched it, loved it and they advocated how amazing the movie was. I dunno how well Upgrade did at the Box Office. But some of these movies reach cult status after a certain period of time.

According to my Uncle Ned, they have not green lite it yet a sequel to Upgrade yet, however, some serious talk has been done and we may know very soon. Uncle Ned also said they are working on a National Treasure 3! what's on page 43?

2:06 am i the only one who found this kinda ironic...bc in the first saw movie leigh’s character adam gets shot in the shoulder and is presumably left to bleed out and doe and here we are 14 years later where Leigh has written a scene where a character gets stabbed in the shoulder idk maybe im wrong it just feel s VERY full circle
