Ooh. The tone is a cross between a kiddy xylophone and a kalimba- I’m betting that it will become an instrument in Cubasis in short order… Very nice.

Nothing toy about these wal. I’ve been after one for years. They are in the same family as the hang drum, which is basically a small steel drum you play with your hands rather than beaters. Some of the larger more professional tongue drums will set you back 2 or three Behringer synths, sometimes more.

@@kentaccordionist I’ve wanted one for a long while too Stephen. Just found out that Thumbjam has some good samples from a Hang drum. Is there another iOS equivalent? I recall seeing one but forgot the name.

@@HotStrange ThumbJam does have some nice hang samples, but as for a younger drum I haven’t seen any anywhere on ios.

Now I’m seriously upset. I have been wanting one of those for a few years now. Yours would seem to be a non tuneable one. But you can get some that will tune using little magnets on the underside of the tongues I’d I remember rightly. That is going to sound awesome with some blackhole or some shimmer, and a slight touch of delay. Those things for your fingers your best using on your thumbs. Not sure if you know Maria Calfa-DePaul, she has been on one of your lives before she’s a multi instrumentalist who happens to play a few of these, along with just about every other instrument you can think of. Oh I nearly forgot that strange looking thing is a mallet holder

We know Maria very well, yes, Mallet Holder, that makes sense. I will do some more with loads of effects, I’m also going to put some lights inside, that’ll be cool

This is great stuff Doug! Is there an iOS equivalent to get these kinds of sounds? I’m not against buying a hardware one but I’m not sure I’d use it enough to justify it. Maybe Thumbjam has some samples of one?

The closest would be Oval Synth. Thumbjam has a nice hang drum and also a steel drum.
