This is my daddys song. it will be played at his funeral. hes been a truck driver for 35 years and counting. hes my hero. and this song gets me every damn time.

my dad had been a trucker for my whole life. we had this song played at his funeral. he had his final ride on the back of a flatbed truck driven by my brother. love ya dad...

Terrie Olsen this is my uncle my moms brother sorry to hear about your dad he sang this song at my grandpa's (his dad) funeral last year, my grandpa was a trucker and a Marine.

Terrie Olsen my father passed away June 10, 2018. He drove for almost 20 years, im only 15 years old. He left us kids behind. Ill always love my dad. Hes jamming them gears in heaven. Maybe our fathers are running together. We played the song Roll on by Alabama at his memorial. I sure do miss him.

My dad started trucking in 1975 and is still trucking today. I started when I was 18 I'm 34 now. Once it's in your blood it's there to stay

It’s in the blood line. Many generations of truck drivers in my family. Done many jobs over the years. Always find my way back in the drivers seat. I think I have given in it’s the thing I will be happy doing.

My brother Michael Branham, aka COWBOY, was a cross - country truck driver for most of his adult life. He passed away this past Thursday (May 19th) in Texarkana Arkansas after he was found in his truck at a truck stop in an area near there. This was one of his favorite songs and it is being played at his funeral. He was originally from Pikeville KY and was an owner operator through a program with TLD out of Knoxville, TN. Trucking was his life. Don't know if anyone will read this but if anyone does and they knew Michael we have set up a go-fund-me page to help with his burial expenses.

BJ Branham. I hauled a lot of rubber in and out of Prescott. I can’t think of that old truck stop by Prescott. It has a big gravel lot. The parking lot always fills up at night. I’ve since quit driving a truck and am working in Blytheville. Not sure if I ever talked to your brother, but probably met him on 30. I’m sorry for you loss Brother.

It was November 1997 it was just before the release of the movie black dog it was my birth day week end that was my last run I was hanging it up giving up the trucking I some times find my self breaking down and going to pieces a few years went by then Leland came out with this song I found my self crying again I’ve been married for 44 year to the same woman but when I gave up driving it was like a divorce hurt inside like hell I missed my sons teen age years he become a man at ten years old now he’s 36 years old and he doesn’t drive but he works in the trucking industry warrenties and terminal msnager he used to go on the road with me trucking rubbed off on him he has a love and respect for truck drivers and most all the drives he’s involved with love him never seen a manager like him so I done something right looking back all I can say is shake the hand of a truck driver every thing we get is because of them always turning and burning so here is to all the real truck drivers l saulute to all of you

drove 25 years my girls grow up with out me it was hard on my wife it was all I knew I look back now was it worth all the hell I put my family thru lost my wife in 2015 to cancer

beavers sorry hearing bout your wife. if not for our strong back boned wives we could never do what was in our blood. my wife and I been together 44 years,our anniversary was Oct 4 2019 will probably be our last together by what her doc says. She says we wouldnt have been together 44 years if not for the truck, i have to agree with her.Doc pulled me off road in 2009, hard to give up road. last 3 years on road she went every trip with me and i got some great memories of us on road together. we had 7 kids, said me being gone 2 weeks at a time gave her special time with them that she wouldnt had if i worked 8 to 5 job. we are very lucky to have had the wives we did, not many would stick by a man they hardly see, and like you said, all the hell they went thru to let us do what we loved. dont think i would have changed the way our lives were, she agrees with me on that. prayers to you and your wife. called me" 14 and 1/2" when i was on road, my wife gave me that handle years ago, to long a funny story how she gave it to me.

I am a 25 year veteran driver as well. Yes. In short it was worth it although you have to dig deeper to understand why. Your loss of time with your wife is tragec yet think of the lives you had a hand in saving. Of course the type of freight you hauled can cause that to vary a bit but everything on a truck has its purpose that is intended to better, save, creat, cause to become healthier richer and other important things to every life that freight encounters. Be it raw material to finished products. The years you spent behind the wheel sacrificing something special to you and your family made thousands of lives better. The load of medical supplies that saves a loved one to the load of maneur being hauled to fertilize the fields for next year's food supply for millions. We all as drivers make that choice to sacrifice in the beginning thinking our time to enjoy the ordinary existence will come at the end of our journey and we retire. Your joy was tamped by loosing your lovely bride far too young, I am sorry for that. Her memory and I bet her wishes would be for you to not think of your commitment to life through the years to be stimmied by her early departure from this life. You served God and country and family out on the roads, you have much to be thankful for. God be with you.

When I first saw the music video for this song it was on GAC during GAC Classic during GAC Classic back when Bill Cody hosted the show. I miss that show. The same is for Trini Triggs with I'm Only In It For The Love. Thanks for posting.

I drove OTR for 40 years until diabetes forced my retirement in 2013. Not a day goe's by that I do not miss firing up my truck..I want to dedicate this tune to a brother of the road,Rick "Ricochet" Atkins who passed away March 7th,2019..Rest In Peace brother..I'll alway's remember the miles we ran together..Your road brother Jerry "Confederate Ghost" Thomas.

my life story been doing it 45 years run the road for 43 years hauling cows and bulls for 20 years hauled just about everything that can be hauled hauling livestock a round home now got tried of tuning the road tbone
