Ahem! *typing intensifies* Hello welcome to “Surviving Lele Pons” *Step 1:* Avoid all videos made with, by, or about her! *Step 2:* Cut all people who watch her out of your life until they decide to stop *Step 3:* Go through your things and find the things that remind you of her *burn them* *Step 4:* Avoid making “IM LATINA” jokes. While it may be hard if it has become a habit but trust me on this one *Step 5:* Block her on Instagram just incase *Step 6:* Have your base ready! Set up your fire arms, known as the block and dislike button, ahead of time Incase she strikes (she is Latina after all) if you have followed all of the steps and are still having issues I’m sorry you have gone beyond the point of return. You are cursed and will not be able to survive Lele Pons.

The person I feel worst for here is Melissa de la Cruz. She's actually a pretty decent YA author, but because her name is attached to this, she's been getting flack, although I do have to wonder how much work she really put into it. The purpose of a ghost writer like de la Cruz (although I don't know if you can count her as a ghost writer, since she IS credited) is to take the person's thoughts and ideas and form them into a readable novel, when one of the problems with this book is the grammar. Maybe she just hated spending time with Lele Pons so much, she was like "FUCK IT, you are ALL going to experience what it was like working with this girl for SIX MONTHS!"

As a native floridian: alligators are cool. They probably won't hurt you if you don't catch them at a bad time. If you just pass them casually and at a respectful distance, they almost definitely won't give you any trouble. Do NOT approach them, do NOT touch them, do //NOT// pick up a baby. That's how you die. (Also, blood doesn't fly everywhere when someone is killed by a gator. They drag you under and drown you.)

I will say the parents having separate rooms isn’t necessarily a bad thing. My parents have separate rooms because of their schedules. Dad is a night shifter, and mom works from home. So, mom having loud conference calls in the daytime, and dad playing loud computer games at night doesn’t work for either of their sleep schedules. In the end, it’s easier if they have separate rooms that include their beds and offices. (Living in a trailer doesn’t afford enough rooms for a separate office and separate bedroom for everyone.)

Do... They... Ever cuddle... Or being affectionate????
@FadeAway1694
@FadeAway1694 4 жыл бұрын
No, actually, they don’t. My family has never really been the sort for touchy-feely kind of affection. Even hugs are reserved for times of goodbye or sadness. My mom has several medical issues that would very much prevent her from having any sort of intimacy with dad. Over the years, dad’s come to accept it and keeps to himself. And potential “extra energy” that might need to be exerted usually just gets put into obsessing over something else, usually a game or politics/religion. We’re still a happy family, regardless. (And no, that’s not me deluding myself. I’ve seen the chaos and the hatred we’ve endured over the years for lots of other cumulative things. There was time when my dad would tell me WAYYY too much info about how things were and made him feel. And over the years, I’ve watched both my parents realize that change and forgiveness and empathy had to occur. So please don’t project the thought that they must hate each other. They don’t. I’ve mediated this for a long time, and no longer need to.) Side note: we actually don’t have a couch. We have two recliners, and since it’s never all 3 of us out in the living room, that’s really all we need. None of us are cuddlers, and we don’t have company over.

Anyway it didn’t help at all and made me more nervous instead. After I finished it I passed it on to a friend and haven’t seen it since. It’s weird to see this suddenly become such a popular discussion topic since it came out around 3-4 years ago!

As someone who is actually clumsy and is constantly spilling food on themselves, thats,,,, just not what happens? 90% of the time, when i spill stuff, no one cares, particularly if I'm in a crowded place. Other people do have lives, and someone spilling spaghetti isn't that interesting. also, if she's so "clumsy" Why is she never prepared? I carry napkins with me everywhere, and make sure that I watch where I'm going. Hell, after the first few times, my FRIENDS started carrying napkins with them, because I'm a mess.

A lot of this is uncomfortably familiar. I used to be the girl who always felt sorry for herself and who wanted everyone to pity her, and it took a lot of work to overcome that and take responsibility for my own emotions and behavior. To see that sort of behavior and mindset in a supposed protagonist is really, really uncomfortable. It's like looking into a magic mirror and catching a glimpse of a past I would rather forget. People like that are not nice. They should not be relatable. They are certainly not protagonist material. They need help. It really is awful to see.

The way she acts at the party, especially the avoiding socializing and then craving it and being mad that no one can read her mind, is EXACTLY how I acted when I had undiagnosed anxiety and depression. The writing is obnoxious but some of the behavior is relatable. Edit: to be fair I was in middle school too. By high school I was much better, even when the untreated depression got worse.

Sometimes you can tell how a person acts through their writing, like here we clearly see Lele's personality almost through herself or her character. Like, maybe she could have created her own character, but instead projected her personality and thoughts and mannerisms through this god awful character. This book seems more like commentary she tried to mask or integrate in a book. Reminds me of onion boy's works too. Sure, books reflect someone's own morals ect., but the whole thing is to create different characters- similar and non similar to yourself. But she obviously is incapable of doing that.

I heard you talking about Lele's similes, and I agree that they lack inspiration and fail to captivate the reader. My favorite simile is from a French novel where the author described the winter trees and their arms as “fat fairies in white nightshirts yawning at the moon." He also describes a flamenco dancer's madness and anger as "hedgehog soup", and the clumsiness of the main protagonists' romance as "a couple of vampires who have forgotten their sunglasses, out on a supermarket trip." Unlike Lele's, the comparisons have inspiration and give the reader a better sense of the story through them. The similes and metaphors hook the reader immediately, and add to the emotions of the story the author is trying to convey. I feel like Lele could learn a thing or two about professional writing from authors around the world.

So many people expect their friends to be therapists and that they deserve infinite care because they're mentally ill, without actually communicating their needs and fears openly. People can't help you if they don't know you want help, it's something that took me years to learn but now that I understand it my social life is so much better.
