If you are looking for a good pair of do all minimalist shoes, check out the Primal Zen by Lems.
They are a great minimalist shoe building off of the original Primal 2. With a little bit of a beefier and more stable sole, they do great for most any activity. I wear them around town, on the range, working out in the gym and even hiking in the mountains.
You can find them here: www.lemsshoes....

Told my dad about these, he was so stuck in using his free veteran shoes. But he had developed planter fasciitis and regularly has sores on his pinky toes from rubbing. To my absolute amazement he went out on his own and bought a pair of Zens.😮 I feel like this shoe is good for first time barefoot shoe people. The stack is around 15 mm so not to thin for first timers. This is important especially for old timers who have been deforming Thier feet for so many years. I pray his feet begin to heel up.

I love my LEMS. Have been wearing them for work and casual wear for the past few years. I've only owned three of their styles, but look to get more in the future. They last years. Example: I'm a CNA (work on my feet all day) and have been wearing the same pair every day I work for going on over 2.5 years!

@@ShelliHunterSmith Now on my second pair of Chillum. They have a new similar one that I am interested called the Kourt Grip. That tread looks like it would be great for when giving a shower or cleaning up fallen water cups. But they last me 2~3 years as work shoes, so it'll be a while 😂

@@ShelliHunterSmith No, I have not tried the Primal Zen. However, I have owned a couple pairs of Primal 2 and love them. They are great for going barefoot when you can't go barefoot, if that makes any sense 😂

I've been wearing a pair of these Primal Zens for a few months (walking, not running), and like them. I've tried super-thin-soled barefoot shoes; I wore a pair for a couple of days, and that was all I could take. Feeling every little pebble beneath my feet was too irritating for me. I'd say these Primal Zens have just enough cushioning to feel a lot better for most people changing to this type of shoe for daily wear.

I've been on quite a journey with shoes as of late. I have wide and flatter than average feet, and I grew up wearing vans, but as I started to become an avid hiker I decided that in the summer I was sick of wearing leather boots and I wanted something that would soak and dry as quick as possible. I mainly hike in areas with lots of rain that are very swampy (Upstate NY, Pennsylvania, Adirondack mountains, etc), and the summers are hot. The first shoe I tried were Solomon speed assault 1s, which while being comfortable did not fit my feet properly, and so would occasionally cause pain in my feet while standing or walking. I stubbornly stuck with them for two summers before I found altama maritimes, which is what I tried next. These were far less comfortable due to the firm rubber insoles with pretty strong arch support, something I was not at all used to. They drained much better than the old solomons, so I stuck with them for a year but they seemed to get less and less comfortable. This winter I purchased Vans MTE-3 goretex winter boots. In the past I've worn timberlands and various European milsurp leather boots (great but heavy and iffy on sizing), and I wanted to see If vans could make a good boot. To my dismay when they arrived, they came with insoles with dramatic arch support, they were almost immediately uncomfortable so I swapped them for some felt soles I had, and that fixed the foot pain problem. However I started to notice calf and glute pain after long sessions with them on, and for a while I wasn't sure why. Fast forward to around feburary, I decide that I'm going to try to seriously start running (I didn't play any sports in high school, so my cardio up until then had all been rowing and rucking). I figured that I'd need running shoes, and I saw that solomon had refreshed their tactical line with wider cuts, so I purchased the speed cross 6 forces, thinking the width was the only problem I had with the first pair. I started a program with them and immediately started having Achilles and calve pain. I figured it was because I was new to running, my form was probably not great and my body needed time to get used to the impacts, but it got to the point where I had to put running on hold altogether. I am a cook and server, when I was serving tables full time I wore my classic vans and as a cook I wear very shitty all rubber non slip shoes (bought them on amazon ages ago for less than $15). Recently, I had a realization. My body is used to barefoot style shoes. The shoes I grow up wearing, and the shoes I wear all day standing on tile floors sometimes up to 12 hours have no padding, no arch support, no drop, they just provide a barrier between my feet and the ground. I don't come home at the end of the day with sore feet or a burning achilles unless I also spend a lot of time wearing my vans boots hiking or the speedcross 6s working out the night before. The Vans boots have drop and are tight on my toes, the speedcross 6s have 10mm of drop and arch support. I've finally realized that what I need are barefoot shoes, so I've been watching all your Lems reviews to get an idea of their lineup. Which Lems shoe would you say drains the fastest or holds the least water? Do you think 4mm of drop is a significant difference compared to zero drop? Thank you for reading my rant, excellent video as always.

Been looking for a shoe that can beat the AZ heat but still manage range things or working out. Nike and saloman make dedicated options, but at a price and u can’t really go away from that. Might check these out

@David the way the sole is made can effect accuracy on the move and slippage one can shoot more accurately and quickly on the move in running shoes like Brooks than minimalist shoes like Converse. Never the less shoes like Converse have extremely good traction. A good balance is a modern basketball shoe as they provide adequate cushion and have soles designed for quick footwork plus they tend to be quiet and have the added benefit of making you less like a narc thus are able to blend in with the environment more smoothly. Nothing screams "armed and dangerous" like hiking boots in an urban environment. I brought up dress shoes for the concerned citizen because no one makes a dress shoe that looks normal, has good cushion, stability, and well designed sole, plus dress shoes tend to be loud as hell.
