LemurMusic It can also be tuned in Fifths (C, G, D, A, E) by using Pirastro Obligato Fifths tuned Double Bass Strings including a High E Solo String. Fifths tuning would've been a good option for the Baroque Era.

This 5 String Double Bass is awesome cause aside from playing lower notes in an Orchestral, or Jazz setting, we can now play Gospel Music in an Unplugged setting.

It's a shame how expensive 5 string basses and extensions are, but I'm no luthier or bass maker, so I'm not completely sure if it's actually worth it or not

You kind of need an extension at least if you want to work orchestrally anyway

@@alfieharries The great thing about a 5 String Bass is that it eliminates the need to use an extension. You can also tune it in fifths with obbligato 5ths tuning strings plus a High E solo so it works as a Solo instrument.

@@alfieharries A 5 (or more) String Double Bass bypasses the need to have an extension cause the lower notes are easier to reach, plus you'll spend more time playing & less time setting up the extension.

@@RockStarOscarStern634 yea 5s are great, i just triggered my rsi last time i had to use one for a gig, plus i dont like the change in tone that the extra tension puts on the bass. Definitely pros and cons to both

Fiquei impressionado com a fabricação e a sonoridade(com arco) deste instrumento,parece ter sido feito por anjos.Só acho que a 5ª corda para Pizzicato(Música popular) a torna inócua sem mencionar o encarecimento de um jogo de cordas desta natureza,agora para orquestras sinfônicas é o melhor que há!

MilhoesDeUsuarios I don't really know, the strings look like flexicors but I could be wrong. The only brand I know that makes a Low B string is Helicore by D'addario. The Low B string costs 53 USD.

LemurMusic This Bass eliminates the need to use that C Extension. It's easier to play than a 4 String Bass in some ways cause you can play the lower notes on a Lower string.

You really don't need a C extension at all, instead of paying $1500 for an extension just tune down your E to a C and you have a perfect C with no -1/2 position or -1st I played on a extension bass before thinking that was amazing then found tuning the E down to a C is truly fantastic all around perfect

@@RockStarOscarStern634 I'm getting one custom commissioned from upton bass, a massive 4/4 5 string with a Low B to a C, completely delete the E since I don't need it, my new bass will be a orchestral only so i don't care about soloist tune or anything like that since I have my personal bass now I use for everything. Use my bass now for jazz, salsa, mariachi music, classical soloist to orchestral. So happy within a year to get my custom commissioned big bass

@@sonnydemontage I have a 5 string Electric Bass Guitar which has a Low B, it's ideal for all kinds of music. Metallica's bassist has a 5 string bass which allows them to get some low end for rock music. For orchestral playing a 5 string bass with a Low B String will do the same thing since it's range is a full octave below the Cello.

Come on -the scale is out of tune - kousevitsky excerpt is out of tune-last scale played-out of tune no vibrato-if you're trying to sell the bass you need to make it sing
