There are Organist, then there is Lenard Razor. He, in my opinion is one of the finest players I have ever heard. So technically accurate, and his choice of chords is, at most times unreal. Thanx Lenard for doing what you do! Especially for the Good Lord!!!!

In reference to the "Poor Leslie Switch" comments... What most people fail to remember is that there are 3 presets for leslie switches... and when this guys is playing I hear every single one of them all in the appropriate spots.

So you saying Cory isn't any of those things? If you say no you don't know anything of music. Not to mention if you are a musician you must of been trained to think like that everybody doesn't get the chance to get trained because last i check it takes money and everybody doesn't have that and that what makes Cory unique a child prodigy unlike the others you mentioned also you now knows all that theory and training them other guys have because once he had enough money out his own pocket he went to Berklee

IMO...I feel like people are gonna ride with who they're most familiar! If you're on the east coast and you've heard more of Corey then naturally you'd say he's better. ..and vice versa! Truth is these 2 are both amazing and nobody has heard the full extent of what they both can do! Not to mention their styles are like apples and oranges! You wouldn't compare kobe to shaq because their on 2 totally different sides of the game! I think they're both equally great! But that's just my opinion! 🐸🍵

@ngbulldog I would put Lennard as 1, then John Peters, Cory Henry...The reason for Lennard as 1 is that he is a very disciplined classical pianist, plus he has played jazz with some of the world's best, including Ramsey Lewis, heplays some of the world's best artists from all styles of music.

I think the people who are making these statements are people who have studied music and truly understand music interpretation. I've seen Corey Henry and he seems to be real good at listening to someone and playing thier arrangements and pieces. I think I see a lot of Chick Corea. Lennard uses a lot of Mozart, Tchaikovsky, and other classical composers in his arrangements. I think it's obvious which interpretations are accepted by trained music professionals as more complicated.

So many great musicians out there...many more that you or I have never heard of but still playing for the Kingdom and reaching souls.. Many more who are gone on to be with the Lord that were before your time...they yielded to the call of God and played for his glory. ..We all have our personal favorites..(quennel Gaskins. i could name many more....) I can't say one is better than the other..However certain styles are more appealing to me... We get so caught up in the skill and talent..however sometimes it is the old faithful musician that only has a few chords that is playing when souls give their life to Jesus..because the other musicians left early for another engagement..lol

Well they are both respective musicians with different styles.Ny and Chicago.Lennard is classically trained from small age,with degrees and has trained with different jazz musicians as well as been with a bunch of artist.Cory is self taught but has been studying,and theres no better gig to be on than snarky puppy bc of most of those musicians are out of musuc conservatories.Both of their placements and left hads are sick alot of organist,keybordisy struggle with that plus they dont play flat hand.fingers arched.But both are innovative,and create chords that are crazy.They both know their theory.Lennard my know more being that hes been trained to do so since 3.

I think that's a ridiculous statement. The ability to learn is as much God given as creativity...DId not God give Daniel, anf the 3 Hebrew boys special ability to learn...Daniel 1:17...IJS

Creativity can be taught. Improvisation is taught as a foundational subject in many of the Arts.So when did creativity stop being taught?
@ObserverMusic
@ObserverMusic 7 жыл бұрын
Your responses are pretty ridiculous but they are revealing....It's called education. When a person goes to college, the goal is not to teach them the profession, but to educate them about a profession and they use that education to be creative within the profession or any profession. This is why many professions require a college degree, whether of not in is in the area desired. For example, Jonas Salk was not shown how to develop the polio vaccine, he was taught the principles of medicine and and he used those principles to be creative and he came up with the cure. The idea is not to tell someone to "be creative" as you stated, but to provide them with the fundamental skills then tell them to apply those skills creatively. When this is done, the collective output looks nothing like the input because it is new, or a creation...Many of the world's problems and life defining discoveries are solved in this manner. So educating one with the processes and procedures and inviting them to apply these things in areas where they have not been applied yield new results. A new result is the output of creativity....

You see Ezzy, I've been around church musicians all my life and most of them learned by copying patterns, runs, and chord progressions. And that's how they practice. Very few take the time to acquire a music education that would allow them to create something new, and because of that they don't comprehend true creativity. I see the comments on so many of the videos that I check out regularly here and on other sites when people are commenting about skilled musician. And the fallback is always "but they are not anointed'. To someone who looks for patterns to learn how to do things this would sound like junk because there are no evident patterns, but you can hear trills and chord progressions from some of the great composers being incorporated into a gospel piece. This is true creativity, but everybody will not understand, just like calculus, everybody that can add two plus two just won't get it....

who on this planet does not play what he has heard from other skilled musicians that comment does not make any sense there is nothing new under the sun we copy and make it our own stew of what we have heard. But the sad thing is we always compare gifts which is stupid Lennard and Corey are both great players Lennard does sound like he is more classically trained which helps.

+foxybrown2 Now that question really makes no sense...You ask who on this planet does not play what he has heard from other skilled musicians....Those who are gifted, skilled, and talented enough to create what the other musicians will hear and try to emulate, that's who!...That's an easy question to answer....
@foxybrown2
@foxybrown2 8 жыл бұрын
ObserverMusic No not good answer you still have to learn from someone like i said nothing is totally new you can add on to what you have heard, But you have to listen to someone to learn the language.
@ObserverMusic
@ObserverMusic 8 жыл бұрын
+foxybrown2 But learning from someone has nothing to do with creating. And I disagree, there is quite a bit new and more is being created. Also, as with anything in life, If your teacher uses songs to teach you how to play you may be correct, but if your teacher uses songs to teach you techniques, then you use those techniques to create. That's how the world's most complicated issues are addressed. take math for example, a student goes to school and the math teachers teaches techniques, afterward that student uses these techniques to solve problems that the teach couldn't solve. So the student is not simply doing the math that the teacher taught, but using the techniques to do new math and solve new problems. I work in a field where this is expected.
@foxybrown2
@foxybrown2 7 жыл бұрын
That is not what i was saying you still have to start from some where you have to listen to what someone has played to even have anything to work with. If you talk to any of the old or new jazz musicians they will tell you that they listened to someone else to get ideas from. Maybe there's another guy named Cory Henry. But if you are referring to the Cory Henry that has so many vids on youtube, then that Cory Henry is no where close to Lennard in skill, improvision, or musical understanding. Lennard creates whereas the Cory Henry I hear on youtube plays what he has heard from other skilled musicians. It takes more skill to be an original, and Lennard is an original. Any educated, knowledgeable, and trained music critic can the obvious skill gap between these two.
