I sparred with McCrory for 2 weeks up at Catterick army garrison we stayed in the barracks the army boy looked after us very well food and training plus tuck us shooting with hand guns and machine guns swimming in pool I had a real good time and the sparring was easy I give McCrory a black eye but the papers said it was one of the army boys but just publicity for them it was with the Green Howard's 19th regiment good days

Imagine being 6`4" and almost 16 stone fully trained, and Lennox can STILL throw you around like a ( In McCrory`s words) Rag doll. Lennox must have been frighteningly strong.

Manny Steward is rumored to have said Lewis was the strongest heavyweight he ever trained. Lewis definitely has supreme gifts. Shame we never saw him vs. Bowe. Two of the strongest guys at the time.

@@presence5426Manny did say that. Also said that LL could make a fight very physical if need be, as what happened with Vitali K.

@@philgarrett5498 Early in Lewis' career, he was pretty aggressive and bombed guys out. Then he became more of a chess player. I'm wondering if he got his bell rung in sparring or in a fight, then realized he shouldn't brawl.

I'm currently in the process of watching Lennox Lewis's career from his beginnings till the end of his career. This is some of the first EARLY fight footage of him that I've ever seen. He has good power if not very good power already in this stage of his career, a good jab, and can throw and land fairly fast punches from all angles: Lots of uppercuts and hooks even when fighting in close range. At his size, this can make him very lethal and adept. One of the few things that I dislike about his fighting technique is that he just doesn't 'let his fists fly' as much as some other heavyweights esp. someone like Evander Holyfield did. I like to see fighters that are always 'busy' -- that don't spend much time tying their opponent up but spend the majority of their time constantly throwing punches -be it jabs or other punches. So many modern day boxers, especially modern day heavyweights just don't let their fists fly like most heavyweights and pretty much boxers from all other weight classes used to...

Lennox is good man. I can sense that he realised very early that McCrory was completely outmatched. From then on Lennox was fighting at only 30 - 35% power. Just enough to get the job done. Lennox didn`t want to humiliate Glen. There was no call to.

@@fernandopessoa7077 McCrory later said that Lennox was throwing him around like a; "Rag doll". When McCrory met Evander Holyfield some years later they talked about fighting Lennox. He said all Evander could talk about was Lewis` amazing physical strength. So, yes;....you can be sure that Lennox never needed to use more than 30 - 35 % of his power to get the job done here. Also, David Tua.....himself a very powerful man, said after his fight against Lennox;........" I`m just glad I got out of there without getting seriously hurt." That is the fear Lennox could instil in his opponents.

Tua and Morrison just didn't want to get inside for fear of the uppercut, the unbeaten Akinwande held on for dear life. To HW's Lewis was the scariest of all time.

Jim Watt was totally wrong commentating that’s British boxing is as safe as it could be... nope! The investigation into the Watson fight found the doctor at ring side had NO Medical equipment with him. Watson sued the BBBC and won damages, incidentally they had no insurance and had to sell their London headquarters to make a part payment towards the damages, Michael went short...... So no Mr Watt it wasn’t as safe as it could have been.
