I just upgraded from pentium 980 to i7 3630qm works fine. The cpu is dirt cheap now $25.

Wow you;ve saved me alot of grief. I was asked by a client to upgrade his 580 to an i5. Now I'll just clean it and upgrade the ssd and ram and tell him to enjoy his Pentium. Many thanks

Thanks, I was thinking of ugrading my cpu of the exactly same model(I have upgraded my ram and ssd already), you saved my money.

Ako neko pokušava promenu procesora na ovoj mašini - cpu 2020M i 2030M su najjači procesori (pentium) koji mogu da rade na HM70 ploči. Ugrađen je tajmer koji restartuje nakon 30-tak minuta rada sa jačim procesorima (navnod radi zaštite GPU-a ???). Oni srećnici sa jačom pločom - HM76 - moći će da stave i3, i5 i i7 procesore. Nisam čuo da je neko uspeo da reši ovaj problem do sada. Inače, odličan video. Pohvala.

hello.Didnt saw video before and answer is little late! i have same laptop and upgradet him wit i5-3230M processor and 256 gigs SSD and work without any issue.Booting normally and no was need it Bios upgrade.But mine mother board is Ivy Bridge.

happened with me also shuts down after every 10 to 15 minute (i5-3320M), so i swapped with old CPU i thought there was something wrong in the CPU i received, now i know the real reason after 1.5 year XD Now, I would try to sell it on second hand marketplace (though i don't know if anyone would be interested to buy :| )

I got i5-3210M 2.5 base to 3.1ghz on my G580, says I can upgrade to i7-3520M 2.9ghz base to 3.5ghz saw comments on lenovo forum says it's compatible,what do you think sir

@@nemanjanedeljkovic5805 Sir are they gonna work for sure, like will there be no issue like the one you faced while upgrading("The shut down issue") ?Because I have very less money and instead of buying a new laptop I am tryna find a solution for this lappy. Please help me with this.

Depends on the version of the motherboard itself... I researched this in more detail, there are motherboards of the same model, but other revisions, which can be upgraded without any problems.

pre par meseci sam stavio I5 3320m umesto Celerona, radi fantasticno, ne znam zasto si imao problem sa ovim :/

Зависи од верзије саме матичне плоче... Истражио сам ово детаљније, постоје матичне плоче истог модела, али друге ревизије, које се без проблема могу надограђивати.
