Got this laptop it's extremely budget friendly ryzen 5 2500u with 128gb 8GB.. you can easily sell your hdd/ssd whichever you get for a m.2, get a ram into that slot for dual channel and you can upgrade your battery to 52wh. Pretty much you got a beast laptop for it's price. I use it only for spreadsheets and work and it does it FAST.

I have the same laptop and will answer all questions below. My Model Number-330S-15ARR (Ryzen 5 2500U) M.2 support? Yes, but only NVME and up to 256GB (I use XPG 256GB NVME) Ram Upgrade? I have 20GB total with 4GB soldered on, and 16GB DDR4 2666V (X1 SO-DIMM) Replacing Thermal Paste? Yes, it is possible with unscrewing a few screws. This should NOT void your warranty either. 2.5 inch bay? Yes, only one. Upgrade ability is endless Battery Upgrade? I haven't done this, but seems possible. WATCH OUT for this laptop bricking itself! Partly my fault, but has happened twice where windows update wants to update the bios. I have sent mine in twice for warranty repair.

What are some of the advantages of installing a M.2 NVME card? I just found out about it after disassembling my laptop (Lenovo Ideapad 330s) to upgrade the ram and I saw the empty slot for the m.2.

@@VictorvictorRamos I have opened up my laptop at least 20 times. I don't think they can good your warranty, but depends where you are from too. USA, they are pretty leneate. If your warranty is up anyway, wouldn't hurt. When you do send in the laptop for warranty repair, all upgraded parts have to be returned to stock (stock SSD/drive, stock ram amount) or they will send it back and make you do this before sending it back a second time (very frustrating). ALSO! Consider getting a warranty extension! These are cheap if you don't procrastinate!

@@turbskienoises9752 an NVME drive can be very helpful for decreasing the wait times for programs to load or games to load. They are much faster than a spinning disk, and maybe a bit faster than a 2.5 inch SSD. It would be a great option to have a 256GB NVME, and have a 1tb spinning disk for Mass storage. If you install the OS on the NVME drive, it can cut almost half the boot time of a spinning disk. I would definitely consider this upgrade but BEWARE! There is a difference in SATA m.2 and NVME m.2, and this laptop only supports NVME.

Good luck with that. Its soldered into the motherboard, removal means replacing the motherboard as well. Just spend the money you would spend on upgrades and get a better laptop or a higher version of the 330s.

Check if you have disabled the trackpad with one of your function keys. One of them may disable or turn your trackpad back on

I know this is a little late but many of these cheaper laptops will be slow from the moment you get them. You cannot add a graphics card to laptop unfortunately. But what you can do is replace the hard drive with a SSD. This will make it alot faster. I suggest brining it to a laptop store and having them do that for you. I hope this helps.

Question for people who have dismantled this model: The plastic clips that hold the case together. Are they the kind that like to break when you use the pry tool? I know they're not important anyway but my OCD would be triggered if I broke any. Edit: I should note that I've worked on hundreds of laptops, it's my job. So I'm not talking about being clumsy, anyone else who does this will know that some clips basically self-destruct if you go anywhere near them.

I have taken mine apart at least 20 times. I would recommend plastic tools though. I haven't broke any tabs yet, decent construction for plastic.

Thanks for the video. I want to upgrade my Laptop Lenovo ideapad 330s -15 Ikb Type 81F5. MTM: 81F50048US I'm considering buy the Samsung 970 EVO Plus m.2(2280) nvme ssd with 1 Tb capacity, and if it is possible also change the 1 Tb hdd with 1Tb ssd sata 2.5" but I don't know if these two changes will work ok. Yes, if you find the right form factor. the one it comes with is crappy, Lenovo branded. Bluetooth cuts in and out. The card is the smallest M.2 there is (2242?)

@@no.1baller939 the issue isnt the m.2, its how its keyed, any replacable internal wifi card is going to be the little m.2, but different brands are keyed differently. buy the wrong one and it wont go in the slot

Darío Badilla efecticamente, es el espacio donde añaden graficas pequeñas como las nvidia MX. Pero dudo que se pueda soldar una manualmente, puesto que te faltaria la extensión del disipador.

Not sure. You could search around, look for a 1080p panel. Make sure the mounts, screws line up before you buy it.

@@no.1baller939 the answer is no. you can replace the screen, but not for higher res. 1080p60hz uses a 30 pin connector, anything more needs a 40 pin. even if screws line up the plug wont fit

Hi. I’ve just purchased the 330s i3 7th generation with 4GB DDR4 RAM. I have two basic questions first: Does it have an extra DDR4 RAM slot so I can add up 8GB ram to have a total of 12GBs? second: I would like to upgrade to SSD does it have a slot for it or do I have to remove the existing hard drive? The 15-IKB model does have an M. 2 slot for an NVMe SSD drive so you do not have to remove your hard drive. As for memory, I believe one slot remains free for upgrades. Note our models do not match exactly, mine has an 8th gen processor but I think these specs should be fairly standard. Best thing to do is to verify at Lenovo's website. Their user manual should have the answer.

It has 4GB soldered onto the motherboard. If you have only 4GB total, you can add a 4GB/8GB/16GB DDR4-2400 SODIMM to get a total of 8GB/12GB/20GB RAM (onboard + DIMM).

It does have an m.2 (nvme only) it does NOT a Mini Pcie-E port, any modern laptop is probably not going to have a mini pci-e.

@@haxgamer0918 Better yet, buy Yellow Dunlop Plectrums (as in, the musical tool). Get several and you can use them to 'hold' one side open while you work on the other. On really troublesome laptops I've even had one in each corner.

you may have already figured out but you should enter the bios right after starting (or uefi) and look for boot settings usually you should press repeatedly the f12 key right after powering on the pc, look inbyour manual or in Google

probably not, as most laptop batteries packages are customized for their own laptops, even more with this integrated ones the most you can do is to search if it supports usb c charging and carry some battery packs

Yes, you can put a NVME SSD in it but only a 256GB one. The PCIE slot only supports NVME, no SATA m.2 drives. For some reason Lenovo limits the ssd slot to only handle up to a 256GB NVME Drive (Doesn't matter the brand or speed) (Does support 128GB ones too)

@@driftingmelodies I'm not sure what your laptop shipped with, but you should follow the steps in the video. You should just be able to add the drive, format it and go. I would install the OS on the NVME drive though, to make it 2x faster and use the other drive as mass storage for games, photos, or programs.

I have lenovo IdeaPad 330s 14inch....i3 4gb ram....I have bought nvme SSD 128gb and the speed difference is huge. If u can extend Ur budget then I would recommend to buy 4gb ram as well(only after SSD).... Although I have bought nvme SSD but I am unable to utilise even half of its speed....hence go for cheaper sata SSD (HDD needs to be replaced with sata SSD) and if possible then upgrade ram too......Now it works like a laptop

@@hyhav4836 technically yes. if you have model without graphic you can solder the supported ones which are the Radeon 530, 535 or Nvidia GTX 1050 i had a model with 530 and after buying 1050 and then soldering it on it it worked fine

En las mismas.. sumale que la bios me la dieron con contraseña.. ahora busco y dice que hay que reemplazar placa.. no se como hacer reset a la bios.. tengo practicamente un ladrillo.. instalé s.o. en otro equipo para pasar el disco duro despues y no lo reconoce.. que mal todo...

Si tu laptop ya no cuenta con garantía .... se puede hacer algo . No tiene nada que ver la bios, solo que la bios tiene activado la version de windows que viene por defecto de fabrica de la laptop . Si actualisates a windows 10 solo selecciona en la bios la version de sos "sistema operativo" en " other " y si solo hay windows 7 o windows 8 escoge windows 10 que es parecida a windows 7 y es todo.

@@acacia319nardo4 nada.. no se pudo hacer nada.. segun soporte lenovo eso ahora es un chip exclusivo para la bios donde se guarda la info sin necesidad de la bateria.. asi que en mi caso se va de cambio de placa si en lenovo no saben la contraseña ya que asi llego de fabrica.. lenqueda aun un mea de garantía.. apenas va a viajar mañana a garantía.. ellos tienen la ultima palabra si cambian o rechazan la garantia.. esperar

@@acacia319nardo4 , no amigo, no hay mas para hacer (al menos en el caso de mi cliente), ya que la solucion es entrar a la BIOS, pero tiene contraseña, y se podria darle reset, pero ya estos equipos no son como los de antes que se podia resetear la bios y sale, pero no se puede darle reset, y la solucion es reemplazar board (eso si lenovo no sabe la contraseña ), porque ya de fabrica si le hacen reemplazo del chip aquel y sale en otro equipo de nuevo al mercado..

Srsly Brah the model in this video is most likely the 4gb version because the ram slot is empty in this model. All of the 330s models come with 4gb of Ram soldered to the board so this model with only 4gb has an open ram port whereas any of the 330s models with more then 4gb (say a 8gb model) would use the open slot for 4gb (so 4gb soldered and 4gb expandable.). The slot to add ram is to the left of the HDD and right above the battery. You will see a 260 pin slot with nothing in it.

if its not a desktop variant its soldered, so any Y, U, M or H series CPU is going to be soldered, there are some huge laptops that have desktop CPUs, those can be replaced.

Aside from that you should always remove any power source (power cable, battery...) before working on your device. 1. Remove power source 2. Press power switch to remove lingering current from the capacitors 3. Apply ESD protection

can anybody help me with my case? i BOUGHT AN LENOVO IDEAPAD 330 15 ARR PACKED WITH 6 GB RAM 5ON WHICH 4 ARE SOLDERED ON THE MB) with amd ryzen 5 and vega 8 gpu, plus 128 gb sdd and 1tb hdd. I opened it and figured out where the ddr 4 ram stick and hdd was, but my main objective after upgrading the ram and raplace hdd by ssd, is TO UPGRADE THE 128GB SSD where the os is installed. I would like to replace it by a 512 gb ssd. THE PROBEM IS I CAN FIND IT NOWHERE ON THE MOTHERBOARD. THE ONLY THING THAT WOULD LOOKS LIKE AN SSD CARD IS IN FACT THE WIFI CARD ON WHICH WIFI ANTENA IS PLUGGED IN. But nowhere i can find the 128gb ssd Can anyone help me?

the SSD is next to the ram, it looks similar to the wifi card but slimmer. its called an NVMe drive.

EatYoVeggiez why the hell would you want to go from an SSD to an HHD? Lmao that’s going backwards in both technology and specs. That’s like getting a laptop with 8gb of Ram and replacing it with 4gb of Ram and lowering your computers specs. Do not replace your SSD with an HHD lmao that is the stupidest thing you could do.

You could upgrade to a 4TB HDD for less than $150. Of course it would be very stupid for me to assume that everyone is only interested in capacity "lmao". If you're more concerned about performance then you should keep the SSD. Fortunately this model can actually be fitted with both an M.2 SSD as well as a 2.5" drive - so you can have both

nose si ya lo descubriste, pero existe una manera "facil" de saber si puedes efecturar un Upgrade en tu equipo, es usando un programa llamado Speccy, tendras info de tu pc, como por ejemplo el socket que usa tu placa base asi buscar un procesador mejor para esa placa. en el caso de que se pudiese por supuesto.

My question is simple: the website on which I m about to buy the laptop mention on the spec of the pc that the MAXIMUM SUPPORTED MEMORY IS 16GB WHAT DO THEY MEAN BY THAT? DOES IT MEAN THAT THE SOLT OCCUPIED by the 2gb ram accept up to 16gb ram or the whole système can support only 16gb and in that case if I remove the 2gb and replace them by 16gb either the 4gb solded on motherboard will not be used or 4gb of the ram I add won't be available OR will I have 20gb ram available in the end? @@chrisj514 if u buy one 16 GB memory stick you will have 20 gb total. But windows 10 64 bit only addresses 16 GB. If u buy an 8 gb stick than u will have 12 gb total. If u keep that slot empty than only 4 from the Mobo will be present.

dont buy piece of crap. keyboard buttons stops working for no reason then the screen died. ordinary use no spillage/ drops the screen under the lenovo sticker is glued with locktite and they mad ethe headsmaller than every one screw so you will purposly round it
