Is it still a good laptop? In 2022 I want to buy with top spec 32gb rtx 3080 ryzen 5900hx will it last long for next 4 5 years? Do i need to go for maintenance every year? Is keyboard ok? Um not gamer but i will buy it for 3d and gpu intensive works .

Hey! Great review, you really went into detail. What you said about the mux switch might be a bit confusing to some though. It definitely has one - laptops with only a mux switch need to be rebooted in order to switch to either the iGPU or dGPU. You're probably thinking of Advanced Optimus which does this switch automatically with no reboot and is usually controlled in the nVidia control panel. Unfortunately I don't think these 2 laptops have it though.

I got this last month and change the thermal paste with kryonaut extreme (a bit overkill, yes) and the cpu temperature went down, its never reach beyond 86°C. The fans very loud indeed, personally I prefer to play on standard mode. Standard mode still quite impressive if the power adapter is plugged in.

Is it possible to disabe the RGB lighting during the boot? Probably some BIOS option? Really do not want to see this christmas tree on my table - not even for a moment..

I hope the battery problem on the icue software get fixed because it was also present in last year's legion laptops and they didn't put out a fix for it. Fingers crossed they do for this year though but I don't have high hopes.

Any reason why my legion wont capture multiple HDMI connected to it? I was going to make 5 cameras installed via HDMI Video capture (usb) as I only have 1 HDMI port in my laptop so I have to use usb port with video capture HDMI usb to transmit the 5 different videos on my laptop. Unfortunately after capturing 2 cameras 3rd/4th/5th cameras aren’t getting captured. Any reason why? Or is there any limitation that I don’t know about legion? What about a ryzen 7 5800h combo with the 3080? Ive read tons of tests that say that the ryzen 9 is only marginally faster than the Ryzen 7.

I wish they started to finally build thicker laptops, so the fans can actually be of a decent size and not sound like a starting airplane when under use. Makes using these high-end machines impossible in public. I get that some people like their macbook air style, but these products inhabit a 3080, it just doesn't make any sense.

isnt a 3080 vs 2080 3070 vs 2070 3060 vs 2060 relatively all the same expenrience as the latter models what did they even change ? it feels entirely the same other than they saying it runs more watts ? as well as more watts yet being cooler ? but the cooling method hasnt change much so what has change i dont understand that they even changed anything not even put faster memory it seems like a marketing plot to cost more for the same product released 2 years or even futher ago

Okay, here is someone who had an MSI GS66 and a Lenovo Legion 7 for a while now. Lenovo legion 7 is such a disappointment for gaming. I dont know why I need to do so much more maintenance for it to work consistently. There are always some issues. E.g.>> you have a chance to set mode from silent to balanced to performance. Performance mode sometimes can bug out and you can only fix it by re-plugging the laptop to the charger. Further, when you already entered a game you cannot change it, you need to exit if you forget to set it to performance, set it and then re enter game. So annoying. Further, the fans dont feel so good. I started to experience lag on it in games i had no issue playing before. For lenovo i have the rtx 3080 Ti and for my msi i have simple 3080. My msi has a fan boost mode and it IS a beast. It is loud and proud and it is consistent. Lenovo fans are actually quite low compared to my MSI. My MSI sounds like an airplane engine. It is true the MSI requires a bit more fan cleaning, but im just so sad about the lenovo. Lastly, I would like to say, the monitor feels better in the lenovo. I wear glasses and I can feel the difference between the two. I dont know if im retarded, but i have the exact same settings and the MSI feels like it squeezes thing up a bit and sometimes feel like it applies blue or something. This is why im so sad about the Lenovo, because I really want it to work without lagging, but unfortinately it doesnt...

Oh u forgot to mention that the 32GB DDR4 3200mhz stock under performs at abt 15 to 25%
