Lenovo M73 Tiny: SSD and Memory Upgrade

I really like these Lenovo ThinkCentre Tiny systems. I have been running a bittorrent machine 24/7 based on a ThinkCentre M53 Tiny, and I'b been happy with it; but I wanted just a bit more CPU power. Let's swap over an SSD and some more memory.
Specs:
OS: Windows 10 Pro
CPU: Intel Core i3-4130T Processor (2 cores / 4 threads, 2.9GHz, 3MB cache)
Memory: 8GB (1 x 8GB) Crucial 8GB DDR3 12600S SODIMM
Storage: 1x Samsung 120GB 830 Pro SSD

I have one of these and just put on the latest BIOS from June 2020. Addresses CPU vulnerabilities among other stuff.

You can actually put a 4GB and 8GB stick off RAM together. Up to 8GB of the RAM will run in dual channel in your case (4GB on each stick) and if resources need more it will go into 12GB single channel

Can you try the EXP GDC external gpu dock to see if you can enhance performance with and external gpu..

did you have any issues installing windows 10? mine gets stuck on install of win 10 asking for a driver for a media device driver it wont find even from the drivers backup off the old mechanical hard drive/

I have a 27” inches monitor and it doesn’t look HD, how can I solve it, because the monitor it is HD so has to be the computer

You should get all ur m73 and make a Beowulf cluster or simalar and make alrights pcs into something more complicated, powerful and fun (and stupid). It would be fun to see

yes, i use this model daily and have 2 monitors hooked up. one uses dp to dvi and the other uses vga

can you put any 4th gen CPU with integrated graphics or only Low power and xeon L CPU's? Also, can you replaced the wifi card with an MSata drive?

Can't replace the Wifi card with a mSATA unfortunately, I'm pretty sure the slot is only M.2 in form factor and is firmware-locked to Wifi cards. If it did work, there's no PCI boot option in the BIOS so it'd only be usable as a data drive. You can put any 4th gen CPU in it that's below 45W, 50-55W is pushing it and you'll probably see thermal/power throttling. I have a Xeon E3-1268L v3 in mine and it works perfectly, minus ~200MHz of turbo clock for some reason.

You’d first upgrade the entire case so you can get a better PSU in orden to get a dedicated GPU

If you have no SSD with the lenovo Win Pro Installation, but the M73 should have a Win Pro key how can you install windows on this machine ? thanks

The key and Windows version is built into the UEFI/BIOS so it will install Pro as default.

Max ram you can do for a m73 is 16 I’m currently upgrading my ram o my for faster speeds and more tabs etc.
