Is there a GPU installed? Some models had an optional GPU which will override the VGA and DP ports on the system board.

The board is BTX style so you would need to have a case that supports BTX form factor.

CPU - look for an i7-880 GPU - a low profile GPU that runs off PCIe slot power will be fine (GTX1650, GTX1050/to, etc)

​@@niyx9698 yeah I think there is enough room for the cooling but the double slot cover would be an issue for sure. Maybe look for a single slot cooled GPU

It's possible, but this motherboard is reversed from a standard layout, which means you would need to look for a case that supports that. I see a lot of Dell and Compaq towers like this from the same era that might work out, but in those you will need to make sure that there aren't proprietary front panel connectors to deal with as well.

@@SHRDNNRMN You need to find a case where the motherboard would be reversed, so basically not a standard case. Look for Dell/HP/Compaq tower cases from 2005-2010 and ask the seller to confirm if it takes a standard mobo or reversed like this one

@@SHRDNNRMN the case needs to support the BTX form factor. There were a lot of Dell Optiplex from this era that used it, but you can also find in some HP/Compaq and IBM models

Since this system uses a custom form factor motherboard, you would have issues fitting anything else into it. For memory you can upgrade up to 8GB of memory, but you may be able to get 16GB to work as well. For CPU any LGA1156 processor should work in here, and the higher the better chance for that 16GB memory to work. The system has two expansion slots. One is a PCIe slot that you can install a low profile GPU. Anything up to a GTX 1050 low profile should work, but there is not a lot of room between the slot and the CPU and HDD assembly so a single wide card is best. The second slot is an old style 32 bit PCI slot that you could find a Wireless adapter for, but mostly you will be restricted to 2.4Ghz on those, and you will want to make sure they support WPA2/AES. You may want to stick with the USB dongle in one of the 8 ports this system has. Hope that helps!

I want to add a low profile graphic card to run editing software, but would I have restrictions?? if you see power supply is only 240W in this pc and I have doubts about fan dissipator if it would be enough, what are your suggestions and comments to do? Do I need to replace them? (it seems kind of difficult for the available space), very thankful!

@@joaquinm.510 The fans are actually pretty powerful (but can get loud at higher RPM since they are so small) For graphics, a low profile GPU that runs off PCIe slot power will be fine (GTX1650, GTX1050/to, etc)

AKAIK the Intel Q57 chipset does not support Xeon processors, so the most powerful CPU would be the I7-880

Yes, almost all of these ThinkCentre small form factor models have an integrated speaker. If you are installing Windows 10 you may have to go to the lenovo support site and download the windows 7/8 driver for it to work properly, as the generic driver Windows 10 installs doesn't look for the second chip on the board that powers the internal speaker output.

You can upgrade to any CPU that supports LGA1156 socket and can upgrade upto maximum 16GB RAM. Just dont use a modern GPU otherwise it will bottleneck the CPU as LGA 1156 socket was built for 1st gen intel CPUs only.You can upgrade to GT 1030. Mine is working with 4GB*2 RAM. Please note that maximum RAM depends on machine type/model.
