+OdavidS I think it does, even with the bigger screen, as long as your tasks does not engage the discrete GPU. I worked in Photoshp for good 7 hours on this. SP3 doesn't last that long when you are using Photoshop.

+Joseph C silo is on the left bottom corner. AES is just as good as EMR, but no loner suffers from edge drifting and jittering. Only regression is the digitizer grid resolution. This only matter when you draw diagonal lines reaaaaally slooooowly. Then the line will wobble more than n EMR.

+TheCGAlchemist I just tested it for you in Photoshop CC and Clip Studio Paint. No tilt sensor confirmed as I have said. BTW I know what exactly Lenovo is talking about on tilt. The tilt Lenovo keeps talking about regarding P40 and 260/460 is the fact that these units are using Wacom AES instead of Wacom EMR as before with older Lenovo units. When you write or draw with severe tilt in EMR devices, the cursor location drifts away from the tip of the pen. This does not happen with AES pens; no matter the angle of the pen, the cursor stays right at the pen tip contact point with the screen. This is what they are referring to when they talk about tilt for 260/460 and P40.

Yoga 700 is not pen enabled. Only Thinkpad Yoga 14 Best Buy (20FY002US), Thinkpad Yoga 260, Thinkpad Yoga 460, and Thinkpad Yoga P50 are convertible Yogas with Pen action (Yoga 900S also use to have pen support but no longer).

Thanks. Palm rejection is decent. Not as good as older Wacom EMR but very serviceable. Screen is quite reflective however.

if you are comfortable with Windows environment, definitely get this. If not, get MBP + iPad Pro + Astropad. $1000 vs $2500+ but that's the price of living the Vida Apple.

I don't think Yoga 520 has pen digitizer. Do not get it if you want to draw on it.

It depends. You'll probably get a slightly better drawing experience with a dedicated drawing tablet especially if you prefer a texture, but if you don't feel like carrying a drawing tablet around, this will be more than enough.

+Vladimir Finn Rikowski There is a lot to the question, not even considering that IMO, Photoshop's brush engine is too cludgy to feel the difference between EMR and AES, but just considering the difference between the hardware, here's what to look for: 1. The pressure curve feels largely the same. Not a surprise since the pressure sensor is the same one used in EMR units. Now the OEMs do tweak how the pressure curve is mapped in firmware sometimes, and there is a slight different feel between T902 and the Yoga 14 (and some of that might be do to how heavy the Lenovo Pen is compared to plastic construction of EMR pens), but large the same feel. 2. The digitizer resolution of AES is much coarser than EMR. This will make an impact if you draw really slowly in diagonal direction, by giving you wigglier lines than EMR. But paradoxically, AES has less parallax and edge drift/jitter errors at the same time. The lesson is not to draw slowly. 3. If you rely alot on the pen barrel buttons like I do, neither the silo pen nor the Pen Pro you can buy from Lenovo will make you happy with the difficult to find flush buttons. Fortunately the Wacom Bamboo Smart AES universal pen solves that problem.

Much better overall IMO. It really comes down to the pen and the fact that you can map the damn barrel buttons thanks to the Wacom Feel driver. The pen has very low IAF (1 gram) compared to N-Trig pens. Allows you to feather in lines at much lighter strokes than on SP4. Also, with the Feel driver instealled, I can work in tablet mode without adding a BT keyboard or other devices that would compensate for lack of KB shortcuts since you can map the 2 barrel buttons on the pen and you also can pull up the radial menu. Sure, it won't give you full functionality of the KB, but in a pinch, it's great. The only downside is that Wacom's firmware is a bit worse at palm rejection than N-Trig, but that's not due to hardware and can be improved by updating the firmware.

What is "photoshop portfolio"? If you are talking about older Photoshop (older than CC), you need the Wintab driver from Wacom. Also, not all Lenovo Yogas work with a stylus. The one in the video is the one that came with the Yoga.

touch works on Photoshop CC and later with two finger gesture including panning.

I don't use Illustrator with the pen, so can't comment much but with any Adobe apps on PC now days, as long as you crank the GPU to max performance mode, you should see minimum lag. It will drain the battery faster so keep it plugged while using CC.

Not in that price range no. You can go pay $500 more for the P40 but all it is is the TPY14 in fancier materials and quadro firmware for the GPU.

Just crank the GPU clock to performance mode and you shouldn't experience lag that would impact your drawing. This unit is as good as it gets for that price range.

The machine is still a champ, although I will disclose that I sold it to a friend of mine to make room for a 15.6" unit. I'm a size whore when it comes down to drawing on the screen. Anyways He loves it like I loved it. That thing is built like a tank. that was evident when I opened it up to upgrade the RAM and SSD. It's jam packed but nicely shielded and designed. Quality stuff. One thing to keep in mind is that it's a dual core i5, not a quad core. I don't know that will make enough impact on your softwares or not.

20FY0002US is Best Buy Exclusive. The none Best Buy version is called Thinkpad Yoga 460. You can buy that at many places online. TPY460 is more expensive and IIRC, slightly lighter but pretty much the same thing. 20FY0002US is limited to only Core i5, GT940M, 8GB of RAM and 256GB SSD configuration. TPY460 can be configured with much more options..

Shogmaster I know, but do you know if the best buy model is a timed exclusive? Since I haven´t found a yoga 460 with a 940m and I don´t live in the states, so getting from bestbuy isn´t an option.

I don't think so. I think that particular configuration is for Best Buy only until end of life.

+GGaryXu 20FY002US is the new body style for Thinkpad Yoga 14, and is same as the Thinkpad Yoga 460. These have silos for pen. All the Thinkpad Yoga 14 that has pen is using Wacom AES. The new Bamboo Smart pen will work, but is not out yet. From Lenovo, you can but the "Pen Pro" pen that uses AAAA battery.

Hey there. Thanks for the kind words. Deserving or not, I will gladly take them ;). It seems like the new Feel driver version is not functioning for whatever reason. Sketchable uses Windows 10's built in Microsoft tablet driver, so it wouldn't be affected. CS5 is still reliant on Wintab driver for pressure expression. FYI, Photoshop CC and later will let you use Microsoft tablet driver for pressure. I guess Medibang also relies on Wintab for pressure. I would recommend switching over to Clip Studio Paint when it goes on sale again. $20~25 is well worth it. It's not free like Medibang, but the brush engine is noticeably better. Also I would urge you to move on from CS5. Even when the Wacom Wintab driver works, the newer driver is starting to show weird behaviors on Photoshop version before CC. I was using CS6 until couple of years ago, and the Wacom Wintab drivers started to drop pressure sensitivity every 6 strokes or so. It was super annoying, forcing me to move on to CC. In the meantime, if the current Feel driver keeps behaving badly with CS5 and Medibang, you can try going back to an older Wacom Feel driver that worked for them. You should probably go back to the Feel driver that came with the machine, or download the version at Lenovo's support site. If those still won't work, then I would move on to CC and CLip Studio Paint.

I'll just revert back to the original wintab, and update from their but unfortunately both versions of the wintab had trouble picking up the presense of the pen. I think at this point clip studio is the way to go then. regard the pen, any suggestions?

Clip Studio Paint is always the right answer. Look around for sales price. Normal price is $50.

Bamboo Smart for Select 2 in1s is excellent, especially for the price. It has much better ergonomic barrel buttons than the Lenovo's pens.

Don't know what you mean by "rendering". Conventional laptops can't use active pressure sensitive pens on their screens. Go from there.

It only has dual core CPU. If you are doing heavy poly modeling, you are better going for something with quad core CPU. It does decent with Z-Brush though.

+R6ex 460 version will get you options for Intel VPro, 2560x1440 and matte coating screen option, and well as higher speed CPUs. Otherwise the BB version is identical. The case is easy to open so I recommend opting for the smallest RAM and SSD if you get to customize with 460.

+ClixT It's probably a copy paste mistake from Wacom's DTK pen ad copy. P40 Yoga uses the same pen accessories as Best Buy Yoga 14 and 260, 460, and X1 Carbon Yogas. None of those pens have tilt sensor. They are pressure only. AFAIK, No Wacom AES pen currently includes tilt sensor. Wacom is fairly adamant about keeping the tit and rotation for their "pro" product lines (Intuos Pros, Cintiqs) so it will take some incredible pressure and money from a PC ODM to include tilt on a AES device.

Yeah that's what i thought unless they managed to pressure Wacom. I currently have the spectre x360, and I'm hating the pen right now, and I'm thinking of sacrificing its elegance for a more functional pen. Is this yoga still better than the sp4s? One thing I like about the sp4 is the feel of the pen..

+ClixT NTrig DuoSense 2 pen in SP4 and Wacom AES pens have very similar tip feel. Most would not be notice the difference. The reason to go with Wacom AES over Ntrig IMO is the superior driver support in the art app world. Wacom's Wintab driver will work with EVERYTHING out there. NTrig has long way to go with their driver support.

Yeah, I guess it just comes with the territory - I've been using line smoothing for details where I need to sketch slower. I still enjoy the experience of drawing digitally on the P40. Hoping to invest in the bigger pen and start looking for a felt/rubber tip set.

I don't know about bigger, but the Wacom Bamboo AES pen (one with the long ass name like "for selected 2 in 1" or something) comes with a set of hard or soft nibs in box. Only $40.

Both. Only 1 SoDIMM slot so max you can put in is 16GB DDR3 module. For SSD, you have 2 slots: One 2.5" SATA III and one 42mm M.2 SATA III. I was dual booting between the 2 drives (Win10 Pro on 1TB 2.5" and Win10 Home on 256GB M.2).
