Lenovo USB-C Dock Type 40A9 and 40AS monitor connection issue

Black Screen issue.
After a Windows Update roleout (with drivers) on about 140 Lenovo Thinkpads T480S/T490S an error occurs on about 8-10 laptops where monitors connected to USB-C docking station (40AS and 40A9) suddenly turns off.
2 weeks later and many hours of troubleshoot with/without Lenovo support we finally had a breaktrough with some 3 parts USB-C cables. Specs:
USB Power Delivery (5 A, 100 W), flettet, 10 Gbps data rate
DELTACO USBC-1412M - USB Type-C kabel - 1 m
We found a way to get the monitors to work while connected to the Lenovo Dock using this cable connected to the secondary USB-C port/Thunderbolt 3
I need a vacation after this troubleshoot :-)

Thanks for posting this video . If you ever encounter this issue again , try swapping the power adaptor , update the drivers for the thinkpad UsBC dock / update the Thinkpad T480 Bios / drivers .

Correction: The secondary USB-C connector where I plug'in my Deltago USB-C cable is a thunderbolt3 compatible port, not a firewire port. There are no firewire ports/connectors on the T480S Lenovo Thinkpad model.

Many thanks for your precious suggestion. We have the same issue.. with 40 Dockibg Stations and 80 monitors (!l). We will try to change the cable and we hope it will work...😊

I uninstall my ducking station drivers from my Lenovo laptop and restarted my computer; after start up the computer reinstalled the driver and that fixed my issue, now it recognize my 2 external monitors.

To replace the Lenovo dock USB-C cable with a cable from Deltaco or other manufactures is not a real solution even if it works. It's a workaround. Finding the root cause to this problem is key so that we can reach a real solution. Please do share if you know this error or simular problem and you have a solution. Thanks :)

I found that playing around with the monitor refresh rate and interlacing seemed to have some affect as well.

i shouldn't have bought Lenovo laptop. i should have bought Sony or others brand. threw away my money

Are you kidding me? Lenovo released a laptop/dock that can't work because the default USB C port/power plug won't work on the correct side? Pathetic.

It’s a c power supply port. It’s only for that. That stop people from putting it in the wrong port.

@@ssmoothe2000Why is it only for power. That would be stupid design. USB-C itself isn't limited to power only, so why put a power-only port on a dockable device. And apparently it doesn't keep people from putting it there.
