Definitely Slim 7 pro. Because 16:9 aspect ratio is boring for me.

Definitely Zenbook 14 :) Much lighter, smaller, nice matte bright screen, better battery life (18-20h of YT video), and so on :) You should give next chance to this model.

I've already tried and reviewed it. Wasn't a fan. But i got a unit with 3-4 solid quality control fails in it, so if might be better in reality.

@@w2best Yes, it is true. In this price range there are a lot of QC issues. I was lucky and got good quality one. Previously I tried Matebook 14 4600H but because of major issues I had to return 2 pieces and gave up. Final issue was that this Matebook had HDMI 1.4 so I wasn't able to run 4k 60Hz, only 30Hz. With Zenbook I can connect 3x 4k/60Hz monitors. On my TV even HDR works ok.

As usual thanks for the great amount of work, you've put into this. In the UK we have two screen variants for the Slim 7 Pro (Matte 2.2k 300 nits and Glossy 2.8k 400 nits), if you want the one with the better battery and no reflections go with the matte, but if you want the more shiny version with a slightly higher resolution pick the glossy screen. I'm just glad that both models offer 2k screens which looks much nicer/sharper compared to FHD and it doesn't drain as much battery compared to 4k's displays. Lenovo finally got it right!

Thank you! I would probably choose the matte version because I've always been a bit more into matte and i think 300n is perfect in a matter screen. Saves a lot of battery compared to a bright glossy that needs more light to be visible.

Thanks for reviews, i watched all of them and bought regular yoga slim 7 with 4800u, thats very rare version, but i found it. It really has a good performance, nice matte screen and all ports that i need

Great video, thanks a lot for this! I am looking at the pro version now, at there seems to be some of them without that nice screen? The one I am looking at seems to have only 2.2K (though with the 16:10), alongside a 5600H and 16GB. Without that nicest screen, how would you say it compares to a regular slim 7 with a Ryzen 7 4700U ?

What is better to buy, please advise! Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 (ryzen 7, fhd) or Yoga Slim 7i Pro (i7, 2880x1800). We have the same price. I am a marketer, sometimes I will edit videos, conduct webinars. Mostly surfing the internet. I also thought to take msi 14 evo, but they say there is a cooling problem. I would be glad to your advice. I'm already tired of choosing, but I can't see laptops live

Skipping the HDMI port on the Pro model is a real letdown. Also, less USB ports. How is that "Pro" at all?

After this video, I'm decided. I'm getting a slim 7 pro 5800H. 6 hours isn't the best battery life, so the saving grace is how often I'm close to a power plug. I'll be mostly working on the laptop itself with no auxiliary screen. Thanks for your great videos W2! Earned a sub and a like! :)

@@aaaa-qi4uk It's very good, I use it for university, content consumption and light gaming. It does everything great. My main annoyance with the laptop is the up down arrow keys being half size. Very nice laptop in all other regards. Awesome for movies.

Amazing comparison review. Covered everything in detail that I needed to know. I'm curious which one you would pick from these Slim 7 pro - R7 5800H /16/ 512 - 90hz 16:10 OLED - 1370 usd Slim 7 pro - R7 5800H / 16 / 512 - 90hz 16:10 glossy IPS - 1230 usd Slim 7 - R7 4700u / 16 / 512 - 60hz 16:9 matte IPS - 1244 usd The price on the OLED seems quite amazing, but i'm not sure how much of a hinderance not having a matte display makes when using on the go, like on the train, in a highly lit library or outside on a bench, and if glossy display makes it unusuable.

Help me with one thing, if i am looking for best color reproduction which doesn't look washed out, which one you have used or know is better for that? has to be 16:9 and glossy as matte aren't good for watching content. I use xps 15 4k which gives me inaccurate colors and i am not happy about this laptop sadly i can't buy a device to fix adjust the color profile.

Hello W2Best Tech. I have been following your reviews for a while. Thanks for putting so much effort into this. I was wondering if I could ask a question regarding 2 laptops. I am interested in either the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Carbon 13.3” (Intel Core i5-1135G7) or the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Pro 14” (Intel Core i7-1165G7). They are both priced here around 1000 euro. I am looking for productivity. Would you recommend one over the other? I would appreciate any feedback.

They are pretty similar but carbon is incredibly light weight. If you can use a 13" it's probably great! I enjoy the screen of the slim 7 pro a lot. Carbon has a similar one but no 90hz

Nice review. If you had to pick between a macbook pro 13.3' M1 512gb ssd or Slim 7i 1165G7 16gb ram 1TB ssd what would you recommend for casual office and entertainment use? I've heard some horror stories about lenovo customer service which worries me.

It's such a hard choice to make as they are both amazing devices! But the performance and heat management is so good in M1. If you need ports you def. go Slim 7. And also remember that it's only 1 external monitor on the M1.

Brilliant, in-depth comparison - thank you. I was most interested in the Slim 7 Pro but who knows when it will be available in the UK. I currently have a Thinkpad T490S with i7, 16GB and excellent 400 nits low-power matte LCD. It's solidly built and fast but runs a little hot, although has a fairly quiet fan which blows out to the right...ok to keep one's mouse hand warm during winter. ;-) The trackpad is very accurate & responsive. I am still making typing mistakes after a few months use - I think my fingers just prefer shallow, light press keys like on the Yoga Slim modals - but at least the arrow keys are full-sized. The speakers are average helped a lot by Dolby Atmos software...would be interesting to compare side-by-side with the 7 Pro's (may be the same speakers!). As you'd expect, the T490S has a few more ports than the Slim variants but it's a shame the Smart-card slot can't be replaced with a full-size SD card reader (it does have a MicroSD card tray at back). I had to make a warranty repair claim when the right side of the key backlighting failed but Lenovo handled the repair well & quickly (perhaps because it's a "business machine"). Wish Microsoft were the same with their Surface products.

16:30 on yoga slim I see the IR sensor constantly blinking. Is it visible by the eye like we see it in the video? Because if it is, then it would be very annoying.

my friend just to informed you, they didnt shipp me pro with 5600h they said end of June, so I canceled.. Instead I will go with 4700U regular slim 7 mat display definitely, now there are some for 700€ whith 16gb ram and 512 ssd. By the way great video as always

@@w2best but which slot could I use for the eGPU system? I meant because in the Slim 7, there is an extra M.2 which allows an ADT R3G to be hooked in to connect to a eGPU. Assuming a 7 Slim Pro with AMD - no TB4 - this doesn't seem to be possible

OMG !! Without even realizing I have purchased a 16:10 aspect and wondering why the screen looks tall and only blaming it to 14 inch against 13 inch. Lol !! Life is full of surprises. Hej! Är kluven på vilken som passar mig bäst. Har haft en HP dator med glossy skärm i ca 3 är och varit nöjd med den men ska lämna tillbaka den till skolan. Specsen var utdaterade och den var ganska tung. Har kommit fram till dessa två modeller. Men vet inte vad jag kommer tycka om en matt skärm på slim 7. Har gillat den mer skarpa och vibranta skärmen på glossy. Dock ska jag använda datorn till skolan och vet inte hur mycket jag kommer kunna ladda datorn och kan då behöva bra batteritid (vilket inte 7 Pro har lika bra). Slim 7 Pro kostar dessutom 2000 kr mer och har inte släppts med AMD processor ännu. Börjar skolan nu till hösten och vet inte om jag hinner vänta på att Pro modellen släpps. Hur skulle du ha gjort? Föredrar du glossy eller matt skärm och hur stor betydelse har det?

Jag tycker det beror på. Behöver du mycket batteritid. Då är yoga slim 7 amd given. Den matta skärmen är lättare att ha lägre ljus på också. Om du inte behöver max batteri och mest jobbar på datorns skärm är slim 7 pro grym. Men även matebook 14 eller ideapad 5 pro om den hinner släppas innan du behöver köpa. :)

@@w2best Tack för svar och hjälp att bestämma! Såg att proshop har en rea på slim 7 för 9000 kr med blank skärm. Är lite osäker på hur det är att beställa från proshop då det verkar som vissa haft problem. Har du något tidigare erfarenhet att beställa från proshop eller ska jag avstå och välja någon annan dator?

@@erikhansen3159 Jag köpte min slim 7 pro på proshop. Funkade helt klanderfritt förutom att den kom till helt fel utlämningsställe. Men det är oklart om det var proshops eller mitt fel. I mina ögon är dock inte 300n tillräcklgit för en glossy display. Jag tror det kommer ge problem på sikt i ljusare miljöer. Man vill def. upp mot 400 för att det ska funka bra.

Thaks for the video. I was really into the new Yoga 7 Pro X 14 with its Ryzen APU but just went to a store to try out the Lenovo keyboard and was really underwhelmed. They didn't have the new one of course but this Slim 7 with similar build but the worse screen etc. so I guessed it should be similar, but went into this video hoping for the Pro versions to have better keyboards, trackpads and overall feel. For reference, I'm coming from a 2015 Surface Book and the overall feel of the device is so much better than the Lenovo I just tried. Only the Macs and the new Surface Laptops had a similar high quality feel, but they come with other drawbacks (macOs; poor hardware for the new Surface line-up).

Really I thought the keyboards were supposed to be really decent on the Lenovos mostly? Keyboard and screen is something that is very important to me and don't want to get something awful. What did you pick instead if you have?

@@benclimo461 Hey Ben. I went with the Lenovo as for a lack of alternatives at the price, got a really good deal from their website. After using it for some months, I can't complain about the build quality. Steel feels really nice, keyboard also really good now, guess I was just used to the other one. But it's also way better than the Lenovo in the store which was apparently a cheaper version. The trackpad is fine, but it's a bit too huge in my opinion, sometimes I hit it with my palms or accidentally right click because it's so big. It's glass covered, so it feels good, but it physically moves like most trackpads, so it's definitely worse than the new haptic feedback trackpads from Microsoft and Apple, but I think the keyboard might be better than on the Air. Overall really good laptop, the screen is amazing, and thanks to the great specs I was able to even play games casually on the go, something the competitors can't. I wouldn't skip on it if you find a good deal (I paid €1180 for the Ryzen 6800HS, GTX 1650, 1TB).

4800u is a much better cpu. Slim 7 pro has a much better screen. It's what you prefer between this!

A wise guy once said, "the best laptop for coding is the one you already have". However, it depends on what do you intend to do with your laptop. If it's webapp/native app development then a ryzen 5 4000 will br more than enough. Coding doesn't require high specs. If you're gonna be writing codes for Games then you need a dedicated graphics card and if you need to work on data models, data engineering etc, do it on the cloud.

@@w2best yes both With 16gb . I Need it mainly on my Desk …and the possibility to operate 2 monitors. Both yogas have a glossy Display. I7 With 300 nits and the pro With 400 nits and 90hz. Both costs about the same amount. About 850€.

What if you change the refresh rate to a lower one instead of 90hz, how many hours it will stand with a single charge? Can you give it a try and let us know. I know too many people who would prefer to have 16x10 ratio and 2k resolution and still find lower refresh rate acceptable. The life is more mobile anymore so min battery life should be at least 8-9 hours.

I have tried it. There's not a huge difference I find. The main thing seems to be the glossy screen needs high brightness and the high brightness takes down the battery life a lot. I did a battery test in my review video of you want to check out the max battery life i could reach

If you don't need great battery life i would go with the pro. But if you need battery life there's no other choice than the regular yoga!

Just ordered the Yoga Slim 7 Pro with Ryzen 5 5600H. That version comes with antiglare screen which I like. (if the screen specs says 2.2k then it's with antiglare according to Lenovo) I think I will be happy
