I've now used the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Pro for 4 months and it's finnaly time to talk a bit more about how I felt about it when having it as my main driver for quite a long time.

Great review! In case anyone is wondering how the 8 core AMD model performs, here's what I think of it: 1. Performance is amazing, better CPU than my Ryzen 2700X desktop (which draws 3-4x the power). Integrated Vega GPU is alright, probably like the Intel Xe. 2. Battery life is a different topic, mine performs just as mediocre as the Intel model shown in this video, or maybe a touch better. You're really best off lowering the brightness and limiting the CPU to get 7+ hours 3. It's noisy. Once you start to game or load the CPU, you really can't ignore the fans. Makes sense considering that the 5800H is a 35-45W TDP part compared to the 28W 11x5G7. The fans also sometimes like to randomly turn up while the machine is literally doing nothing.

Ah shoot and I thought the experience with the fans was just my unit. I have the OLED model btw and I get 5 hrs with Netflix Streaming on full brightness.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this. I was looking for such a great review to better understand about the product and look at all the aspects of the device. And the long term review is indeed the best comparing it with the out of the box alongside the specification review. This gives the daily consumer a better and clearer picture.

Thank you for the review, very informative. :) The DJ thing is a bummer, as a live musician and lifetime windows user I finally switched to mac. Reliable Plug&Play with pretty much anything. No more tinkering with the drivers or any of that bs. The final straw for me was when I saw windows blue screen from backstage 10min before the act. Yes, I had postponed the updates for a while, but ffs mac won't ever shut down without your permission.

I always watch these as W2B always gives a valuable account, even though I'm not now looking for a new machine. I ended up with a Lenovo Ryzen 7 P14S Gen1, largely because it was on offer and it was possible to over-specify RAM and SSD at modest extra cost if I was prepared to wait 6 weeks. So I ended up with a business machine with features I don't need, when I was looking for a home machine like a Slim7. Those weren't available in the UK. That's fate, but it has worked out well for me.

Great review of this laptop ! Manufacturers should focus on port selection as well as silent cooling on idle and medium workload, it seems this one is quite good on this last part. You did an amazing job by comparing 16:10, 3:2, 16:9 aspect ratio, and screen differences depending on available nits, may I ask you to present pros and cons of higher resolution display (for laptop of this size) depending of usage (office work, watching content, video editing, etc) versus good matte Full HD screen. Good job on the review! Lenovo just released a [Yoga Slim 7 Pro 16"] model btw, with the same specs as Ryzen Ideapad Pro but with better hardware quality. You should check it out, the 120Hz 500nit screen on it looks sweet.

Thanks for your Great Review. Maybe you should also take a look at the Acer Spin 3 with i5 1135g7. I am currently testing this device. So far, it makes a great impression. Also has 2 thunderbolt 4 ports, 2 USBA, Micro SD, HDMI 2.0b, integrated pen and a great 400 nits 60hz display.

Great review, you resolved almost all of my doubts and this would be my perfect laptop but I have a big question cause I use the HDMI a lot on my TV: Is there a good quality cable of Thunderbolt to HDMI or an adapter of USB-HDMI? I've seen some of those but I dont trust that they have the same quality as a HDMI to HDMI cable

Great review I have watched a lot of your videos about the slim 7 pro and Ideapad 5 pro and have been researching a lot about these 2 devices. I bought the slim 7 pro AMD version because of its form factor. But I was pretty disappointed with the build quality. The screen was a bit flimsy and the hinges makes some noise when opening and closing the lid. I think I expected too much for such a slim device and I hoped that it was a bit stronger feeling. I then bought the Ideapad 5 pro 16 inches and the build quality is much much better! I am happy now with the Ideapad 5 pro 16 inch AMD version. One thing my unit has is a bit of overspray of the coating that is still in the HDMI port but everything works fine and you can't really see it so it is almost perfect. I think people should be aware that the slim 7 pro is soo thin that it negatively affects the build quality.

@@w2best Yeah i was dissapointed because a lot of reviews stated that is has excellent build quality but one big Dutch forum also stated in their website reviews that the unit is a bit too thin. Great to see yours is fine maybe mine was a exception. Could you maybe test one thing if you gently push the hinge so the bar under the screen mine was creaking a lot. It almost felt it was not properly mounted. Thank for all your hard work and keep going!

@@sofiamorgado5896 Hi, my laptop is mostly idle so i don't really have any issue with the fan noise. The only time i hear them is when the charger is plugged in and i am doing heavy tasks at the same time such as coding and simulation software. I do have my laptop on a stand with ventilation so that might help a bit. I think it's a decent laptop for the money.

@@w2best even if you check the estimated battery life on the Lenovo's official site it's written 19hrs but in real use i usually get 12 hrs

Great review. Unfortunately, in Hungary, we have almost no choice of popular laptops, so when I saw a matebook 14, 4800h, 16gb ram, 512gb touchscreen on Alza for 920 EUR, I had no choice but to buy this. I know I said I won't buy Huawei for the webcam placement (even though I have a Huawei p30), but there was no other laptop with 16 gb ram and a good screen for less than 1200+ EUR. It has been a fantastic performer for me for over a month now and shockingly for me, I can stomach the glossy screen even outdoors.

I have a Thinkpad and from what I experienced the line is suffering from QC and very slow response based on routine use. Not sure about the Yoga/Slim but I suppose it is a lower priced line than Thinkpad. I doubt it is better than Thinkpad but seeing how low QC is

I bought the french version of this laptop with Intel i5-11300H, 16G RAM, 512G SSD and 2,2K 300nits matte display for 980 euros. One of the best Windows laptop I have ever used: lightweight, completely silent (I hardly hear any fan noise), gorgeous screen to work with and it stays cool almost all the time.

Good review. I loved the way you started out by explaining how you used the device and why you used it in such a way. Might I suggest that in future reviews you also have the specs of the machine as a text on the screen for easier viewing. You also mentioned how the battery life was not great, but you did not mention how many hours on average you would get. Perhaps telling us how many hours you got from light and heavy usage would be informative. I also think you should include a section about the webcam and mic as part of your review since it is getting more important now. All in all great informative review. Cheers! :)

I'm still debating on whether I should get the base M1 Macbook Air (8gb ram, 256gb ssd -> not worth 400+€ for 16gb ram) or the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Pro with an i7 1260P, 2.8k OLED, 16gb ram, 1tb ssd, etc. The price difference should be around 150€ which isn't that much but one thing that worries me is that Lenovo is not as well known as Apple in regards to production quality meaning that I'm afraid there'll be some problems that may come down the line. I'll be using it for programming and watching videos hence the screen also being a reflective glossy display might not be as nice as the Macbook

I just picked up this laptop with the OLED screen and Nvidia MX450, and it's an amazing machine for the price (it even does gaming pretty well)! The only big downside, as you mention, seems to be battery life, but I can live with that. However I'm running out of disk space fast so I'm considering upgrading the internal 500GB M.2 disk. Is this something you have done on yours?

How usable is the display outside? I know you made a video about it where you showed that its hard to see anything on the display in the sun, but what about sitting in half shade, did you use the laptop this way?

Yes. On full brightness that is no issue with the 400n glossy display.

@@rajaafifi4280 I went with the Slim 7 Pro and it's working wonders! If you're not looking for anything with a GPU you should definitely go for it! I went with the Lenovo since it has better thermals. I also decided on the version with a Ryzen 9 5900HX

Slim 7 carbon is great, just a bit limited on only usb c ports. Slim 7 pro with Ryzen 9 is great. It's hard to find a more powerful laptop at that price and weight. Just know there's an oled model coming out soon!

Hello. I’m looking into buying a new laptop. I’m hearing information regarding Windows 11 minimum specs which are very high. What to make of this seeing that many laptops even max 1 year old don’t fit the requirements. Will Windows adapt its specs ? What minimum specs are needed, not very clear on Windows side.

Pretty much all mid-range and up laptops sold in the last 2 years fullfill the Win 11 requirements and Microsoft wants mass adaption so they will lower them probably.

I have it and can tell you. It can do a little over 6 hours as long as you don't do much with it, comparable to the Intel model. Keep screen brightness low, at 60 Hz and use the energy saving performance profile. Once you start actually working (doing dev tasks, light gaming, whatever) the time shortens drastically. Basically if you have a power outlet near you, you'd want to be using it.

Actually the mic quality is not that good and could have been mentioned as a con. Have a listen in my full review. I've learned to work around it but it's def. but the best mic I've tried.

Hello, I want to get the Lenovo Ideapad 5 pro with 120hz. I really do not want the battery to be an issue. Do you think it will be a problem? I am so used to high refresh rate that I am worried about getting the one with 60hz. Thanks in advice..!

In your experience does this Lenovo slim 7i display which is a good display and has higher resolution does this cause less eye strain ,when you compare it to other laptops which offer good specs but provide poor quality display do you notice less eye strain after long usage compared to other poor laptop screens

@@w2best thank you, I simply use a bluetooh speaker at times. I also tried the mic and man drove me nuts finding out the USB port disabled my sound with a camera plugged in. hate the new way.

The device is one of the most beautiful things I have ever come across. But I also criticize the few connections. I don't understand how to place the headphone port in front of the USB port. It's a pity that you didn't equip the great display with touch. But I noticed today that I can't start the notebook when it's closed. Can you confirm that? What kind of background does that have?

I plugged the laptop using an usb c to hdmi cable and it's not letting me watch with full gamut

Interesting! Never experienced any issues with my dongles and even 4k has worked fine.

@@w2best yeah and the monitor is Lenovo 1080p YCbCr and intel graphics does not recognize the data

@@VanosTurbo It depends what you need! I will get an ideapad 5 pro AMD very soon. Then I will make some comparison videos about just that topic. Stay tuned for it! But in essence I think it's power vs thunderbolt :P

@@ethannguyen7562 Yes it could be better, but I've still not had much success in video editing with davinci resolve and AMD CPUs. I'm a bit nervous about that with the Ideapad too, but we'll see.

I am using Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Pro with pre installed Windows 10. My Background picture on login screen, most of the time, won't change and keep showing the same picture as yours (The lake surrounded by hills). I tried all solutions google gave me but none of them helped. Have you experience this issue as well?
