I would argue that the invention (or discovery) of lenses is one of the most important milestones in science and technology ever. It not only gave us cameras and projectors, but eyeglasses (imagine the early times for humans, not being able to see very well and no way to correct it), microscopes (allowing us to peer into the smallest of worlds) and telescopes (which ultimately led us to a better understanding of our solar system and indeed the universe).

Did you use lenses to invert the left and right in this video or did you just use computer software to do it? Would be a neat demonstration of lenses to switch to a wide shot and realize a lens had been placed in front of the camera so that we can read the backwards writing.

'How do you make fire from ice'? I'd wager you know.......I did. I'll hold off on the answer, and I heard this in a movie. Double points if you know the movie. I would not have known!

Love it. Take a big chunk of ice and slowly melt it into a lens shape by rubbing it with your warm hands. Sunlight focused through the ice will ignite dry grass. Also, you can do this with liquid water (at high noon) by filling a clear plastic bag with water and letting gravity bulge it out into a lens shape. Both of these I need to try. Cheers, Dr. A
