This was the song that introduced me to Leo Kottke. I'm 14 years old again!

Leo has described his singing as "goose farts on a muggy day". I wouldn't agree, but his guitar skill is one of the very best!

Had to come here. I haven't heard this song in years and years. I will see Leo at Freight and Salvage in Berkeley next month.

Yup, there are what seems like a million acoustic only versions of Leo's songs here on KZfaq. This album IS Leo Kottke + percussionist + a bassist and other musicians. Most people appreciate the change.

Very funky tune, love it.

Leo once described his singing as "goose farts on a muggy day". I would argue a bit about that but there is absolutely no argument about his guitar artistry!

Leo had the rhythm section because his label wanted it! they thought he could broaden his appeal and sell more records! I didn't hate it but Leo,s appeal was one man and a six or twelve putting out more sound with an acoustic than anyone had heard before! Leo,s a treasure! cool dude!
@FreeJam13517 жыл бұрын
ya,the rhythm section??No need for that.Sounds better whithout,,,

when I first heard Leo I thought it was 2 guitarists at once...amazing dude.

Have you heard his album "Standing In My Shoes?" It has a sparse rhythm section. Works better. Very different version of this song on that album.
@ManganeseMan6 жыл бұрын
yes, I have that album.... actually had heard it before this version....both are great cuts. more slow and relaxed, always a crowd pleaser.

I found this record back in the 1990s outside a used record store for free. Killer record and I love every track. His singing, playing and yeah I liked the rythm section too. Killer tracks on here - timeless

In live performances, Leo originally called this tune Turtle Hills. Since it was based on Cripple Creek, he began calling it that. I prefer it without the backup instrumentation.

As per my previous comment I wanted to give people an alternative to his numerous solo albums which are well documented on KZfaq.

The intro starts beautifully...just wonderful...I have looked everywhere to find this tune by leo that is just strictly guitar, boy was I fooled, such a shame, they should have at least matched up the percussion with guitar a little better before putting it on the shelves in my opinion.

It's something like cover on Tommy Jarrell?
@Vingul2 жыл бұрын
I love Jarrell, but this is a traditional tune. Most famously done by Earl Scruggs, probably (or Flatt & Scruggs).
