"Raining Blood" from Slayer's "Reign in Blood" album (1986).
I know, you probably didn't expect this on my channel where it's all about prog and stuff. But I'm also going to focus a little bit more on the bigger metal bands from now on. No completely of course. Anyway, the official isolated bass track is up on KZfaq which helped quite a bit. And yet, I decided not to transcribe the intro the same way as the studio version. Tom Araya always plays those triplets live and it is so much more powerful than the stupid bassline they came up with in 1986. Anyway, the rest of the song is correct!
Some important information that nobody is going to read.
Tuning : D#-G#-C#-F#
Artist : Slayer
Bassist : Tom Araya
Album : Reign in Blood (1986)
Song : RAINING BLOOD
Bass : Warwick GPS Corvette 5A Ash

I mainly used the official isolated bass track for this song, but I changed the intro to what Tom Araya plays live. I know that I always want things to be accurate, but the intro of the studio version is so damn boring that I just had to change it to Tom’s preferred intro riff. Enjoy

One rare occasion where the cover version is actually better played than the official studio version. Congrats

Depends on how careful you want to be with the bass I guess. I can understand it if you want it to be all shiny and spotless. I personally love a bass that looks like it has been played on for years.

Why put D# in the tuning instead of the more common Eb? I just want to know if there was any special reason for it,it's the same in the end
@LeoBassCovers2
@LeoBassCovers2 2 жыл бұрын
Mainly personal preference. After 6 years of transcribing and looking at online tabs, I'd say that about 80% of all transcribers write it as D#. The way I see it is that Eb is more sheet music while D# is more for tabs. And tabs are the simplified versions of proper sheet music..
