Charity Grant My Dad loved her as well.He & my Mom were dating in 1948 & They went to New York with my fraternal grandparents. Because in those days a lady. was always chaperoned LOL. They went to see Zinka Melonov in Trovatore my grandparents favorite soprano at the time. After they got married in 1949 they all moved west in the Bay Area California. And of course they were in heaven with San Francisco Opera. My grandparents retired there and they saw leontyne price I believe in the early sixties. After that it was history. We all flew there in the mid-60s and saw her in Aida. I was 14 my sister was 16. My mom and dad were blown away by her incredible voice. We saw her again and recital in 74 SRO. She was such a lady so beautiful and Regal. Great memories my friend. We saw her again in 85 after she retired from the Opera stage in recital. She was incredible as usual. Arnold Bourbon Amaral

...a vocal genius. I have actually been moved to tears a number of times, listening to that incredible sound, that comes out of her face. Its as if I really am listening to the "voice of the Creator" (whatever he, she or it, sounds like). When I hear her sing "Visse d'arte", I am always humbled and quiet....as if Im listening to something otherworldly, singing it.

I first heard Leontyne in my dorm room at college in her first season at the Met in “Trovatore.” Despite the limitations of that radio I was thrilled. Her “ D’Amor sull’ ali rose” had me out of breath in tears. I was fortunate enough to hear her sing that role and many others at the Met over the years. I have3 already stipulated that her rendition of the Trovatore Aria be played at my funeral! Peter Podol

I feel ashamed & not Worthy😢. I just looked at my playlist for MADAME PRICE and I did not have this on my play list to my surprise. & I thought I was her number one fan LOL. The first time I saw Madame Price was in 1975 I went to see her with my wife and her best friend June . We sat in awe. for almost 2 hours totally transported. Her voice kept ringing in my head and the rest was history,We saw her again after her farewell Aida @ the Met.Same concert hall incredible acoustics design bye Frank Lloyd Wright. During her incredible performance Madame Price performed 4 encores. That is one of my wife's favorite aria for the female voice. From the GREAT composer himself Giacomo Puccini. After Madame PRICE sang un bel di she received a standing ovation. I felt so privileged to be there I was the first one to stand up during the standing ovation. she turned around so graciously and turned towards me & Madame PRICE acknowledged me. I'm very proud of Leotyne Price's journey, determination and perseverance despite how disgusting America's racism towards black people was. It only takes a bit of pride growing into a stronger light enough to repel the darkness of those trying to destroy her spirit and her mission. She makes me also proud to be black. Proud to know the level of greatness one of my own fellowed dark skinned people were that had such a massive impact on the world stages of grace and power of being self acclaimed. her contribution to Opera and the world of classical and vocal musical arts on a historical level is monumental. Thank you Leotyne Price for not giving up on you're dream and continuing you're passion God put you on this earth for. Now people like me and everyone else can look up to you as an inspiration and diamond icon of appreciation for such a rare extraordinary talent. Thank you with tears from my eyes. 😭 I dedicate my goals and pursuits in you're honor. 🌺 🌹 🌺 🌹 🌺 🌹 🌺 🌹

4:12 - 4:16 is a mistake. Not around the country! (USA!) While she was performing (safe) throughout the world, singing in the best houses in Europe, meeting Kings, Queens and Presidents, sleeping in the best hotels and adored by her audience, she was not allowed to use a bathroom or suposed to sleep in a "white" hotel in the country where she was born. O yes... she performed in the White House, ( after paying enough tax). I worship her, she is LOVE ♥
