Leopard Vs Warthog: The Uninvited Guest | Rob The Ranger Special Edition

A re-edited version of a previous clip
The Ravenscourt male leopard was out and about near a well known warthog burrow when he noticed the warthog family making their way towards him. The leopard started stalking and after a brief chase through the thickets managed to catch one of the warthogs. The noise made by the warthog when the leopard caught it was enough to attract the attention of another nearby creature. The uninvited guest surprised the leopard and he lost control of the warthog which then ran off! The leopard stood still as the uninvited guest ran after the warthog but eventually went closer and then those of us that were present were able to witness a very rare event. Leopards are a solitary animal and seldom feed at the same tie of even close family members yet here we got to see a leopard sharing a warthog with a different species!

Another great wildlife video from Mr Rob. The thing I love about Mr Rob wildlife videos is he doesn’t put music on his videos and unlike Safari live he doesn’t talk nonstop. Mr Rob gives short useful explanation about the Animals, and then he stays Quite and lets the audience enjoy the Animals. The incredible tree climbing abilities of leopards make them the most successful big cats globally. I am convinced that leopards surpass primates in their climbing abilities. Despite this, it remains uncommon to come across a video capturing a mother leopard with more than 2 fully-grown leopard cubs !!!

Adult warthogs are the one prey item that seems to get consistently eaten alive by leopards (unlike lions, which may or may not kill their food first, leopards will kill most of the time). Probably because a warthog’s neck is too hard to choke.

@@bkjeong4302 Leopards always eat adult warthog alive though cos they have no necks, hence all the blood the leopard is trying the bite to death tactic, Hyena style but doesn’t have the bite strength to do it as quick as the Hyenas.

Awesome video. Guess the leopard and the Hyena were so hungry it wasnt worth fighting over. Couldn't believe they were eating together. If the big bad lion came it would of been a different story. Lol

Jesus. Leopards have terrible table manners. You'd think that he would have just put the pig out of its misery, but he just decided to eat it alive. But what was even more amazing is how the boar, after being munched on like a Sunday picnic, suddenly got up and ran away, right in into the waiting jaws of a hungry hyena. At least it dispatched it quicker.

I cannot believe it's just when you scream like that, when they can alert lions and hyenas, why don't you just grab the neck, it's on its back, so to grab the neck and muffle the sound with him being nothing

It was only about 20m from the first spot to the second, definitely the same warthog I think it bled out but can't be sure the hyena didn't help it along.

@@robtheranger Was thinking there's no way he could have gotten away. Interesting back and forth, and they ended up sharing the meal at the end. Was fascinating to see the Leopard approach the Hyena all submissive after hyena re-caught & finished the job. Great footage and thanks for the commentary Rob!!

Rob, I never saw a leopard and a hyena eating together. That hyena must be a low member of his pact to be by himself and to not realize that his jaw strength could have really done a number to Ravenscourt. Thanks for this video. It goes to show you, just when you think have nature figured out, it throws you a curve ball.
