Leorio is a genius of Nen. He basically learned by himself, mostly without any help unlike Gon & Kirua, who are geniuses but still had 3 teachers who teach them everything.

I knew as soon as Ging described Leorio’s ability that he was destined for greatness. I just hope he makes it through the Dark Continent

It is astounding how much Leorio goes from "pretty swell guy" to "the true protagonist" once you delve into the background details from the manga. For once, I am absolutely devoted to seeing how his story will play out.

I would also like to expand upon Leorio doing things the “right way”. Nen is supposed to take at least 6 months to get the hang of and that’s not to mention learning your hatsu. Leorio not only took his time when learning the nen basics, but he also took his time in crafting an ability that didn’t require any crazy conditions. Leorio is a model hunter and imo the most pure character in the series. It’s interesting how at first, Leorio was portrayed as the opposite of an ideal hunter. His ambitions started and ended with money. Becoming a hunter was only a means to an end, but through Gon and the others, his goals became refined and now include the interests of the association.

The idea that Leorio manages to block Kurapika's aura nodes/pores in order to save him from himself, is even more terrifying than any nen curse or contract if you think about it. With advanced and precise nen knowledge paired with medicine, Leorio could force someone into a zetsu state with no way out as you would with a nen exorcist and a curse. The only way would be risking one's life exposing themselves to forcing their pores open like Killua and Gon did with Wing.

I've always felt like Leorio's and Gyro's origins juxtaposed one another. They both grew up in squalor but Leorio became more dedicated to helping people because of it and Gyro became dedicated to hurting people.

I think the fact that hisoka let him go in the hunter exams as one of the people with real potential shows you just how much he can grow

I think Leorio might learn an advanced form of nen exorcism to remove the curses Kurapika puts on himself. Leorio can perform remote surgeries without slicing you up. It is possible he can look at the chains Kurapika puts on hearts and use his aura go momentarily passify the nen inside him.

If you're correct about Leorio using his ability to shut off Nen, even temporarily, then I think he'll use it on Kurapika in order to shut off Emperor Time and stop Kurapika from losing too many years. Possibly after Kurapika passes out again.

I wish we got more of leorio in the series, i would've loved to see his quest in the medical school and learning nen; his hatsu is lowkey powerful too, since he can make the distance between you and him irrelevant, and there's that theory that he can use this hatsu to perform surgery without cutting open his patient using the portal

Leorio was able to create an ability on the spot without prior knowledge, fully utilizing his innate Emitter class and attack someone from across the room. Now imagine he trains that ten-fold and combines it with his absolute medical knowledge of human anatomy? Imagine him being able to surgically remove parts of your body without even having to be near you or strike you?

Oreo always had such a cool goal and dream to me his potential in other areas is awesome

I actually appreciate a writer who is able to pick characters only when they are required for the plot after having already set them up to walk their own storyline independently. Leorio was always set up to be a doctor and studying in medical school. That was his dream. So unless Togashi was planning on writing Greys Anatomy the anime, Leorio really did NOT have a role in a classic shonen story line from the start (like adventuring in the wilderness and physically fighting opponents in battle). He was still doing very important things in his own life path though. And when Togashi needed him back, he brought him back. Fairly logically too. An injured friend dying in a hospital setting on life support. And no one else could have done what Leorio did in the Chairman Election arc with as much emotional "punch" (pun intended). Of course he is also needed to balance Kurapika's arc now too. If he just dragged Leorio along the story like many other "main" characters end up being dragged along in other anime just because they were introduced early but now no longer serve any real purpose in the plot.... we would have become bored of him and his impact would be less. And that would be a shame. Leorio is a great character. I love that we can still appreciate him because Togashi is capable of selecting moments when we need to see him the most and only giving him back to us then :) Would also give Leorio props for appearing to be the ONLY one of the 4 who fully passed the secret Hunter Exam on his own. Gon and Killua cheated through Wing to forcibly open their nen nodes and Kurapikia also had the great fortune of meeting a teacher. Leorio seems to have figured nen out on his own. He may be behind but he did demonstrate he knows about it and can use it by Yorknew, as rudimentary as it his demonstration was. Maybe he did have a teacher, but it does not seem like he did.

KInda sad how little screentime Leorio got in HxH, except the final arc which was great as he is a character with alot of potential, cant wait for the return of the manga so that maybe the anime will have a chance for a new arc.

I'm thinking that it would be more interesting if instead of just disabling nen abilities, Leorio develops a detailed understanding of the nen beasts to the point where he can hijack them. It would cover his lack of strength/aura, serve to justify the nen beasts being a thing (because compared to all other nen powers these are a little bit out of left field), and at the end of the arc he walks out with multiple nen beasts at his command.

Thanks for keeping this amazing character in my mind. I really hope he gets his time to shine soon in the Manga.

I just had a thought that made Gyro’s presence MUCH more terrifying for me. Gyro was obviously said to have been reborn as a chimera ant.. what I realized is, it’s incredibly strange that he was able to simply leave the nest and the other ants. We could see through the actions of Ikalgo the ants were very serious about each individual doing their part for the whole. The reasons they suspected something of Ikalgo was because he was out of his line of duty in the first place. The second step of my thought process is.. after so many ants were born, a lot of them broke off into their own factions. But they did this in groups. Some female ants intended on becoming the next ant queen. So, if there could be multiple potential queens… what if there was another King? What if Gyro is now a chimera ant with power and potential comparable to Meruem, but with the time to actually cultivate his abilities? By the time Gyro makes his appearance, he may be a bigger threat than any of us could anticipate.

Gyro as the final opponent for Leorio seems like a really fitting development, I wish I could see what HxH would had been if it had been released at a more reasonable rate, even just a monthly release with the same amount of pages as a weekly series, in that world the 1999 series would had not just died and that would had been another great thing to behold.

Leorio reminds me so much of Vash Stampede with he's kind personality and character design, seems like Author was inspired by Vash when he created Leorio, with this glasses and spike hair and some other smaller detales. IMHO.

This is honestly really hype! I imagine with Kurapika’s storyline coming to a final conclusion that the loose ends of Gon and Killua’s storylines will lead to the four reuniting with Leorio as the leader this time, like how Kurapika was the one they all took cues from for York New! And Leorio vs Gyro would be honestly amazing, Leorio’s genuine compassion and big goodness up against Gyro’s malice! Sign me up!

It would make a lot of sense if he becomes the last protagonist. All of the other three were at some point. Hopefully togashi actually makes it that far.

Finally Leorio Will gain the respect he deserves

Leorio could be used to deal with the calamities. If Ging was able to use Ultrasound to find people maybe Leorio could use it on the ground to find out where things are like Pap and direct people away from potential danger. Remote punch could help if Pap has gotten stuck into someone to rip them away. I dont know what would happen to the person infected though, would the pleasure be so good that they would voluntarily go back and be infected again and that could be a good side story like the side effects of people who are infected by DC things.

Just WOW, the last part of Leorio against Gyro makes sense and i like that idea so much

Idk if this is already a common theory, but what if Leorio's emission punch was never developed with combat in mind, and punching Ging was just an imprompto use out of passion? He could be working on a way to create hands out of aura so he can operate on patients that are in sterile rooms with the operating hands being crafted of nen, and no other bodies coming in and out of the room potentially decontaminating it.

When Leorio landed a punch on Ging, it was an exceptional event due to its sheer strength. As mentioned in the video, Leorio could have primarily focused on conditioning his Nen abilities for healing and aiding patients, rather than causing harm. Consequently, Leorio's aura is geared towards repairing rather than damaging the body. However, when Leorio's punch connected with Ging, who has the unique ability to enhance his own skills by replicating others, its power was significantly heightened.

I've always liked Leorio, and this break down of his character and abilities show that he could be an amazing nen user, and probably a great leader, when he fully matures.

As soon as I saw Leorio's hatsu, I realized he created his ability to be the best surgeon possible. It's entirely possible the smaller a thing he wants to "teleport" is, the more precise it can be, so he might be able to perform surgery without from the outside. Maybe he needs to make an outer incision, to "let his teleport" in, then move to exactly where he knows a certain body piece is based on his medical knowledge plus xrays.

I love how a lowkey character like Leorio can have the possibility to make a big impact on the story, from making a miracle discovery to cure many diseases to save lives or even save Kurapika from Emperor Time, but besides that, one of the thinks that I like him the most is all the characteristics in his personality that makes him a likeable character, from almost being elected as a chairman and to be recognized by Ging and Cheadle on the first time they see him, because let's face it, in real life it's very difficult to make a big first impression on people the first time they see you, that is something that I like the most and then Leorio being able to take that position as a zodiac member and a possible "future" chairman. I mean he doesn't have the spotlight but if Mr. Togashi wants it, it can be a game changer in the Dark Continent. At the end I like how a character that many times is considered as almost "forgettable" can make everyone to turns heads and say WOW, I didn't expect that, but anyways I think that for Leorio to be on the "main four" characters in all the marketing strategy, people will always wait something from him and wondering why he is the main four and why not other character. I know too much text but glad to see this type of videos that show my boy Leorio some Love.

Leorio is a boss . He's on of my most loved characters in anime . Idk what it is about him but mat mercer did an amazing job bring this character to life. Pluse his story of pretending to not care but then secretly being a big softy who want to be a Dr for poor ppl made his character evern more interesting for me. Im glad to see there finally using him to his full potential

I want him to grow as a fighter as well too. Strong enough to save his friends at the very least hold of in the final battle or something. I wanted kuwabara/knuckle to do something like that as well but togashi probably forgot about them both and i gear leorio might go the same path

In the revisiting video series my theory was that Leorio is going to the Dark Continent to become the first "Nen Surgeon" for Kurapika and Gon. They both share a similar affliction and he is one of the very few people that knows about either and both of them. Kurapika's Nen is killing him and Gon's Nen is, what's a good way to describe it, locked? He wants to attain the skills and, if necessary, "medicines" to repair negative Nen effects on the body and to perform procedures to allow the body to safely and more effectively utilize Nen. I imagine one of his more storied techniques will be an improved and safer version of the "fast method" of opening the body's pores to utilize Nen. A technique of course first derived to allow Gon to fully utilize his aura once again. Kurapika is a little more vague but also easier in a way since other than it "shortening his life" HOW that is effecting Kurapika's body hasn't really been explained yet. So, I'm sure it will be easy for him to come up with something to explain it. Also, let's not forget that he likely also knows how Killua suffered under his brother's needle and he would certainly want to develop a technique to remove something like that in the future.

I absolutely love the idea that Leorio will save Kurapika. That would be awesome. 100% agree Kurapika is on the road to ruin and self destruction, living w reckless abandon. If I remember correctly based on what Gon said, isn't Leorio's powers all about "punching cancer out of your body"? That seems to be what he strives for as a medical practitioner and a nen user. So far he's got the punching part down, and his medical knowledge could pinpoint which substances to punch out while leaving everything else in your body intact. He's shaping to be the most unconventional healer among all healers across all genres of anime and games.

I like the fact that Miss Japan said that Leorio is Her ideal man and all men should strive to be like Him.

I like how the 4 protagonists are still going to be quite known, though I really hope Gon will one day go to the Dark continent, like his family before him. Doesn't have to be in this arc, and can be its own. Y'know, the Dark continent has enough potential for multiple arcs: as it is quite seeded with many potential evils.

leorio coming back around and getting his nen ability in season 6 is the levity we needed after chimera ant.

I could be wrong but... i remember Knuckle being an enhancer not an emitter, in fact i was thrilled for how unique his ability was for an enhancer and how good he was in emission. But maybe i'm wrong, it would make sense that he was an emitter.

I'm imagining that Leorio's Nen Ability will double as a way to help him with his studies and in fights. I think he will discover the Remote Bullets and will use them to remove tumors and other things in the body making him a miracle doctor that can cure anything. I think we will use this ability to help the survivors of past Dark Continent expeditions which will make the world realize how good of a doctor it is. I also think that the fighting side to it will be like Cuphead's power to shoot bullets from his finger. He can also shoot giant blasts and other variants and they will all be able to pass through walls and obstacles whenever Leorio wants them to. He can create things like tracking bullets and it would be cool if it was like a Greed Island spell where the bullets won't stop until Leorio wants them to. He would also still have the remote punch and all of these abilites would allow Leorio to fight from a far.

I would love to see Leorio as the final protagonist

If we ever get a completed HxH I could see Leorio being the chairman of the Hunters Association. Kurapika being the head of the underworld. Gon is arguably the best hunter to ever exist. Lastly, Killua will be the head of his family, taking them to new heights.

I always thought he was so intriguing. And he was always my favorite, but I was so disappointed in the lack of prominence he got in the series. I understand that he had a different, completely different path and gold than his friends, but I still thought that he could have been very useful in the main storyline.

I think leorio can equally become really strong in his own right. Of course, he doesn't want to literally fight anyone considering he isnt good at fighting. but with his medical abilities, he can turn those into lethal weapons. For those who have watched naruto, they know how deadly medical powers can be when used to fight

man i freaking LOVE this prediction for Leorio. Poison vs Medicine is such a huge theme trope that also plays into the Gryo vs Leorio theme arc. Sure, there needs to be some fighting but that doesn't have to Leorio doing all the face to face battles. His battle would be rallying hunters and the public to stop the suffering from an addictive drug or the spread of a diease.

We had the story of Gon and Killua play out (Gon found Ging, Killua escaped his Family with his Sister), we are currently in Kurapikas final Arc (all of the Troupe is present on the Ship) so Leorios Story is the last one we need to see unfold. What you say makes perfect sense. He might be the one to stop Gyro with the help of Gon, Killua and Kurapika (if he survives). Would make for a pretty cool Final arc with Leorio as the Main Character and the other 3 being more a supportive Cast that help him.

I have my own reimagining of HxH and I gave Leorio a different Nen ability that’s actually more faithful to his character. It’s basically similar to Knuckle’s A.P.R where Leorio is lending his Nen to other people, but the difference is that he gets the Nen back and acts more like a Nen Curse. The 1st version is called “Sunflower Loan”. Leorio lends his Nen to another person, either through physical contact or by tossing a ball of energy at his target, and a tattoo of a sunflower appears on the target’s neck. The recipient would immediately gain the benefits of having the extra spirit energy and can even accelerate the person’s recovery time. Once the target’s Nen is completely full and is at 100%, the sunflower will then absorb any excess Nen that the target would’ve wasted away. Once the Sunflower absorbs EXACTLY the amount that Leorio had give, the sunflower would then return to Leorio with the Nen that Leorio had lent out. He would have developed it while he was at medical school and would be showcased at the York New City arc. However, he would learn that the ability would be terrible in a fight as it would help his opponent and the sunflower won’t start absorbing Nen until the target is out of combat. By the time of the Chimera Ant Arc, Leorio would develop a 2nd version that more geared towards fighting; “Rose Petal Thief”. The activation is similar to Sunflower Loan but it’s a rose instead (duh). The rose has anywhere between 3-20 rose petals and each individual petals represents the amount of Nen that Leorio had gave to his target. The rose would then start absorbing the targets Nen and unlike Sunflower Loan, the target doesn’t need to be at 100% Nen to start absorbing. Once all of the rose petals are full, the rose would return to Leorio and the victim would left drained from having their Nen being taken away. However, another key difference is that the stolen Nen would materialise into a pill (in a battle) which Leorio can either keep it or sends it to a person which he has deemed as his friend. The only conditions to the ability is that it can’t steal ALL of the victim’s Nen and Leorio can’t control how many Rose Petals that the rose would make. Leorio showcased this ability in MY retelling of the Chimera Ant Arc and play as a support role for the palace infiltration team.

I honestly really used to think that Togashi had told the studio that Leorio wouldn't play a part in the future story anymore and that's why they changed the testing gates scene in the anime. But now that he's back in the story I don't understand at all why they changed it.

If you wanted to kill someone by attacking the heart with "aura bullets" you'd go for the sinus node where the electrical signal that stimulates the heart to beat is emitted. Given the precision it's a one shot kill.

A truly terrifying thing Leorio could do with his nen abilities. Mesh manipulation with his emmision and target super precise nerves and things in his opponent's bodies. If your pain sensors are turned off, and you're running unchecked on adrenaline, your body will tear itself apart since it has no limiters placed on it any more. This might give him a way to fight, without breaking the hippocratic oath "Do no harm." He doesn't have to fight them, just avoid them while they literally tear themselves to pieces. Without them ever feeling a thing. Alternitively, activating every nerve center in the body at the same time would make it feel like you're burning alive. The slightest brush of a breeze would feel like white hot blades. Additionally he could use his Nen to pump various chemicals into the brain making all sorts of stuff possible. All it would take would be a tiny bit of manipulation, and emiting a syringe for flare.

I can see that. Leorio going to the Dark Continent and finding something to make him super rich and then his role for the rest of the series is to bankroll Gon, Killua and Kurapika's adventures.

I absolutely hope you're right. I miss my man Leorio, absolute king of men right there. I really hope Togashi will run with this. I like the idea of Leorio having potential to be EXTREMELY dangerous with limited means, but uses it for positive purposes only.
