Thank you for this video. it brings back some childhood memories. My dad lead the Lepto research project at LSU in the early 1960's when little was known about it other than it was killing livestock. It started with trapping all sorts of wild animals to eventually identify the major carrier, which I recall as being the striped skunk. I spent quite a few hours "helping" in in the lab and learning to identify this spirochete. I was about 8 years old at the time

I work with exotic animals in zoos and aquariums and I caught this once, not fun. it actually got so bad it turns out it caused rhabdomyolysis as well so I became a diagnostic nightmare for my infectious disease expert treating. kinda put me on doxycycline as a whim since he thought it was a virus for a while but wanted a broad span anti biotic that wouldn't mess with any medications they might give me. got liver and kidney failure so thats good.
