Lyrics:
In another time we would be as one.
In another place our lives would've only just begun.
We walk beneath the sun, we lie beneath the stars.
We grow upon the Earth and this is what we are.
It didn't have to be this way but this is what we are.
The wasted years have passed so slowly,
Without connection to my only.
The end is near defining lonely.
Is anybody there to show me... show me... show me...
You don't believe in space.
You don't believe in light.
You don't believe that anything is well beyond your might.
We walk across the sky and beneath the ocean floor,
We're never going anywhere we've never been before.
It doesn't have to be this way,
This isn't who we are.
It doesn't have to be this way,
This isn't who we are.
The wasted years have passed so slowly,
Without connection to my only.
I will not live without you near me;
Love cannot fit inside a theory.
The end is near defining lonely;
Is anybody there to show me? ...Show me? ...Show me?

If I were you, I would scroll right back up, viewer of the comments. You are certainly not prepared for the science vs religion shootout that is happening in the comments. Please, scroll back up and save yourself. I didn't and I wasted an hour on this comment section only to see bullshit by both sides. SCROLL BACK UP, ENJOY THE SONG AND SAVE YOURSELF!

+Stocky Comdt You do realize that a lot of Christians are Arabs? (Coptics, Orthodox, and so on) I hate when people drop blanket terms like "Christian" when they're arguing about the Crusades. Usually you're referring to Catholics, but since your to busy bashing something you don't try to understand, you completely forget Eastern Orthodoxy. They did not treat Musilms or jews that bad, heck during the crusades the Europeans hated them for treating Turkish prisoners so well. But of course you'll not listen to me, you'll probably just post some angry reply and continue to live inside your bubble.

KZfaq is a WORLD ON FIRE, I wish I could do something LOUDER THAN WORDS to get my message across. The mindset now is TORTURE. WHAT YOU NEED and what we all need is for the day that the old KZfaq mindset where no one argued about religion to come back. How I wish the old youtube mindset would COME BACK TO ME. Yet HERE COMES THE REIGN of people who argue about unrelated topics on amazing songs like these.

I take this song as us as humans losing the premise of what we are "This isn't who we are." This line speaks a thousand words, now, bear with me, I may get a little over-analytical here. But I agree with this song, if it is to be taken this way, because we have lost sight of ourselves, fighting amongst race, gender, religion, and one simple thing you find people arguing over on the internet too much, opinion. It's all futile to fight, we never get anywhere by fighting. We just have to accept differences that we have, what has fighting ever done for anyone? Devastation and regret. We have completely let go of ourselves at this point. I know this post isn't really gonna ever gain ground on the internet, but I do hope you there, reading this, can at least open your eyes to the truth, and see what we've done to ourselves. It's our fault history is brutal. It's our fault our word is dying. We made all these problems, we decided to make life this way. We forgot about what was important. We forgot humanity. The planet. The animals. At this point, we're reverting to something horrid. Unimaginable. Even scary. Life, if we keep going in this path we've taken, will end for us. We're a dying species. Humans are endangered because of this mindset that has been implanted into our brains which we call "Human nature." It's not natural. I would like to end this with one simple word: Change.

Why is everyone complaining about the song, the song is excellent, and if you're religious or not, both sides will say the same. The lyrics do have certain links to a god, but in our modern society it would (almost) be impossible to rely on only God. And take it from me, i'm raised with God and I believe in him, the only thing he gives to you is what you need the most and what you deserve. Please people, stop arguing and enjoy the song.

I agree although I'm Christian. Music should be measure by the content and the message in the song. This song isn't about religion, but I love the power in the lyrics. "It doesn't have to be this way, This isn't who we are." Just what humanity has come to brings so much power behind the lyrics.

You can all stop discussing religion now, because this is what this song is about: "The year is 2048 AD. Humans are now able to leave their earthly home and travel to other dimensions. While traveling, a shell of their body remains on earth and functions at a reduced capacity. For most people, life is more interesting and entertaining in these alternate dimensions; however, having neglected their loved ones at home, society on earth begins to deteriorate." Etc. but it's too long to fit here.

I see this song as less of a theological debate and more about choosing to see meaning beyond crippling nihilism. Like, it's possible to believe in science without being a nihilist, and religion isn't devoid of its own nihilism. I don't see the religion/atheism themes people apparently think are in this song.

@chony93 I believe it may have something to do with String Theory's relation to relativity, and how it can't really be attributed to true human nature. "Love cannot fit inside a theory" seems to be the direct relation in the song. As one of the possible theories for everything, it's hard to imagine that human nature could be explained in a theory. I believe that's the meaning of the title. Then again I know nothing of physics so I could be talking right out my back end. :)

I might be going out on a limb here, but does anyone else share my idea that this song could be considered (in a round-about way) an episode of confusion regarding death? The last few lines seem to imply that the character (of the vocalist) is agonizing over death because there is no way to know what comes after it.
