I was so excited when the McElboys spent half of this episode talking about Les Mis. I have seen the 25th Anniversary concert of Les Mis like 4 times at this point, so I'm pretty sure I'm French now. I also plan on fighting any hot takes in the comments section about Les Mis, just a heads up.

I know this is an old comment, but here's the thing, A party based on Phantom of the opera, is totally fine, and sounds fun even. Because lots of stuff happens in that musical that makes for a suitable party theme, there's the masquerade for example. Les Mis, on the other hand is just a bunch of sad stuff happening and then most of the cast dies.

The most infuriating thing about the guide is that its clearly trying to act like the person who wrote it knows everything about the time period, and yet they bring up parchment, which had fallen largely into disuse SEVERAL HUNDRED YEARS PRIOR TO THE EVENTS OF THE STORY.

Also, out of curiosity, what did they use instead of parchment? Just old paper? Because to my mind, parchment=old yellowish paper with edges that I burned off

@@hannahawbrey2294 - Parchment is made of animal skin (I don’t know the details of manufacture beyond that). Paper is still made of wood pulp even when it’s aged and yellowing. They did, in fact, use plain ol’ paper at the time. It wouldn’t have even been yellowing, because (excepting potential fringe situations) they would have been using newly-made paper that had not yet had time to yellow. I really hope none of that came across as condescending, because I swear that was not my intent; I just like sharing information when I have it.

OK BUT THE FACT THEY MET HER AT THE LATEST LIVE SHOW!!! She was actually twelve when she wrote the article and she DIDNT HAVE THAT PARTY! And the WHOLE story is amazing and everyone needs to hear it. BUT. No one clarified if she was a listener BEFORE or AFTER her thing was read. Because that makes a HUGE difference. If she was a fan already and then they started reading it I NEED TO KNOW HOW SHE REACTED!!! Was there an initial horror when they started doing wikihows that turned into mortification when hers popped up? Or did she stumble into it at some point
