The last performance of Les Miserables on Broadway, Sept. 4, 2016. Starring John Owen-Jones as Jean Valjean and Hayden Tee as Javert. Great run though far to short given it was in the top tier of shows most every week. The show had 1,026 performances and was a newly imaged version of the long running classic. Hopefully it will come back in the not to distant future and if anyone from Les Miz sees this please restore Little People to the original version not the movie version. Thank you!

Les Miserables is my favorite story ever. When I was very young, my dad told me the story about Jean Valjean stealing the bishop's silver and being redeemed to teach me about how I can repent and change when I make mistakes. When I got older, I decided I'd check out the whole story for myself... but you always have to read the BOOK first, right? :) I started reading the unabridged beast of a book at first just so I could tell everyone I actually did it, but as I became enveloped in the story and completed it over the summer two years ago, I completely fell in love with it and the messages it communicated about redemption and justice. My parents couldn't believe I'd actually taken on that challenge, but now we had a shared passion about this story that brought us closer together. The next summer- this past summer- I started rereading Les Mis again. On my sixteenth birthday that July, my parents surprised me with a trip to New York to see Les Mis before it closed. I'd listened to the songs before, but nothing compared to the experience I had watching it! I'll never forget it as long as I live. Javert is my favorite character because of his aplomb and admirable qualities that have one vice- error. Hayden Tee portrayed Javert in a way that brought the character I'd envisioned in my head to life- living, singing. My parents really loved John Owen Jones as Jean Valjean- my mom said she'd never heard anyone sing Bring Him Home so beautifully. (the audience just couldn't stop applauding after that song by the way) The memories are getting dimmer in my head like all memories do, which makes me sad. However, I am so glad that I got to see it and live this wonderful experience.

I saw this show 13 times, to say I love Les Miz is something of and understatement. Why a show that was often in the top 10 closed I don't really understand. I just hope it returns to NY in the not to far off future.

it's closing to make way for Great Comet, but there are empty theatres on broadway so why does this have to close??

Actually it doesn't work that way. Les Miz announced it was closing so the new show booked the theater as a result of it being available after 9/4. All the theaters have shows lined up even though there has been a rather large turnover this year. The producer, Cameron Mackintosh, decided last December to close the show even though it seemed like it was pretty healthy. The last week they were at 112 percent of possible capacity and were number 5 in ticket sales.. They've been in the top 10 for weeks. They took in over a $110 million in the 2 1/2 year run, they were making money, just not Hamilton money but they are also in a much smaller theater. Announcing a closure so far off ( 9 months) is a ploy to maximize revenue in the months leading up to the closure for people to see it one more time and it worked like a charm

This was my first Broadway show. I saw it four times. I wanted to see it more but I live three hours from the city and never had time to travel, and if I saw it anymore I'd never see any other shows. However, it meant a tremendous amount to me and essentially got me into theatre. The last time I went (before closing night) was the matinee on August 29th, 2015, which was probably the only performance that was more emotional then the last, for obvious reasons. When I went to the final performance I was a mess, though. This just made me cry all over again, haha. Truly one of the best shows of all time. I'm only worried that they're going to wait a while to revive it or put on a tour again, since I feel like the market is a little oversaturated with Les Mis right now (basically since the movie came out.) It'll probably be another decade or more until it hits Broadway again. Unless that BBC miniseries sparks an interest in it again like the movie did. Any-who, thanks for recording/posting this. Meant a lot.

Nice story and your welcome, I'm glad to be able to share this with fans of the show. As far as the tour is concerned, there is one planned for 2017. Broadway will be many years away I fear. I'm going to London again next year to get my fix. I saw it there last year and it was amazing. I'm sad Broadway closed but happy I got to see it 13 times.

I met Hayden whilst he was here in Singapore doing a show with a few friends called TAKE ME OUT and he was just fantastic in his role. Genuinely nice guy and a great story about willing your dreams to come true.

Daisy Michaels There is only one boy typically in the cast, Garvouche, who is a street kid who befriends the college student up risers. Little known but in the book Garvouche is the brother of Eponine. From memory, Little People: Excuse dear inspector, lovely evening my dear. I know this man my friends his name is inspector Javert, so don't believe a word he says cuz none of its true, this only goes to show what little people can do. (this was the big mistakes of the Les Miz revival, they left out the 2nd verse!) 2nd verse: And little people know when little people fight, we may look easy pickins but we got some bite. So never kick a dog becuz he's just a pup, we'll fight like 20 armies and we won't give up, so you better run for cover when the pup grows up! (extend middle figure at the inspector) I love Garvouche!

No I just got the curtain call nothing from the performance. I was hoping for a farewell speech but got the usual curtain call although it more emotional and very loud from the audience cheering. If you notice as the 1st curtain coming down you can see JOJ wiping a tear away.

Yes it was, she was very good. The Broadway revival was terrific, I saw it 13 times but it's casting was a bit uneven. Eponine, Enjolras and Maurice all had less than perfect people for the part and one time or the other.
