When a maiden flight comes back in one piece, that is a Big success ! great job.

It also means the pilot is aware of the wing loading and didn't try a slow scale-like fly by. I have seen many fine looking scale planes stalled and destroyed that way.

Me too! And its every bit as good as I always thought it would be. Now we need to genetically engineer a 1/4 scale pilot to fly it!

Beautiful engine...no doubt! Just a friendly criticism: that landing approach was way, way, too steep! Your beautiful plane was building E on it's descent; not shedding it, hence the wild porpoising as you tried to flair. I'm a old timer RC flyer and real general aviation (single engine) pilot; your landing approach should really be at a much shallower angle to the threshold/runway and by all means, take your time to get out your flaps and gear and bleed off that speed!! I suggest you get gear out and flaps down as you turn down-wind from up-wind of the runway, pulling your power back to about 25% and maintaining a shallow descent on the down-wind approach. When you turn-to-base (L-turn to runway), make sure your throttle is only slightly open (~ 20%), coordinate rudder/aileron turn to final, and maintain a long, shallow approach to the field with power on. I see so many beautiful models pushing their gear through the wings, or worse, due to poor landing approach technique which manifests itself in porpoising, crashing through ground effect, etc. Let's keep you and that lovely plane flying for many day's to come!! Love to have one of those engines in my old 1/5th scale Pony as well..! Happy skies :)

This toy if not respected will rip your hand off.
@cal-native9 ай бұрын
@@flightforensics4523 this aircraft is not a "toy" - it is the result of hundreds of hours of engineering and construction, and one of the first examples of an actual flying miniature V-12 that I'm aware of. The thought of a full scale, historic, multi-million dollar P-51 in the hands of someone with your childish attitude and arrogance is frightening, if true.

The small model V12s don't sound particularly good the cylinders are tiny , It doesn't sound like a weed eater though ? and it's really under proped so it's much faster than when it's properly loaded with a decent propeller .

That's a slick unit. Doubt I'd have the nerve to actually fly it considering the hours and money it represents. I think the most amazing feat of precision measuring and machining I have ever laid eyes on was at an RC and ultralight fly in I attended about 10 years ago with my Rotorway Scorpion 133 project (a sadly incomplete project). Anyway, I happened upon an old timer that always had something cool to show off every year. This year he had a huge BV 138 flying boat in gorgeous luftwaffe maritime patrol livery that be designed and built in his shop over a few years. looked to be about 1:10 scale and everything was accurate right down to the hand made rivets in the hull. It had a functional searchlight, turrets and retractable gear but that's not even the coolest part... This guy hand designed (no computer because he didn't know how to use one..) and built not 1, not 2 but 3 scale Junkers Jumo diesel aero engines! complete with hand built turbo's, gearboxes and props. And he did it the old fashioned way with lathe's, saws, drills, files, lost wax casting etc. Apparently he even built a mini drop hammer forge to make the rods, crank and studs. I was so amazed I forgot to ask the obvious.. What the hell does it run on?? At that scale I'd expect diesel to have a viscosity like motor oil, so I doubt it can be atomized through a teeny little injector.. They all ran great though, and it sounded amazing!

BRAVO- wonderful model ! Sadly, here in Canada, I would not be able to fly such an aircraft - reason being, the Canadian Government has decided that ALL RC Aircraft models over 200g are potential, weaponized drones! All such RC models, need to get an aircraft REGISTRATION, have a TRANSPONDER, have the SAME log books as a real aircraft (engine log, airframe log etc), and the operator have a 'Drone Operator License'! It is now illegal for me to fly my B25 Mitchell Bomber (Royal Kit). That effectively has killed this hobby.
