That's one of the great things about music. No one owns it. If you feel it, it's yours. Some of that West Yorkshire style will find itself at home on my West Oakland combo organ. Thanks for posting your wisdom. These vids are really neither complicated nor condescending. They speak right to my skill level.

Thanks for your kind comments. That is what I aimed to do - make it simple yet interesting - without loads of theory and getting to the point. Players with different skill levels can get something out of the lessons - and advanced players can "read between the lines" so to speak :-)

Hahaha, LESSON 1 = way above my level Great lesson though Keith! No nonsense, no confusing terminology, not a second of watching a guy talking, and best of all: no need to rewind the video! Just a hand that shows you very clearly and calm, what to do. repeated a bunch of times in various speeds. Perfect way to get it across, well done. I loved hearing you play an improvisation like that, I hope i'll get half as good one day. Thanks!

Keith, I think you do a great job with your lessons, and recommend them to everyone I run across who has a desire to play rock/blues organ. You've also got a great sound using that Marshal head as a preamp. Thanks for all your work spreading the good news about this king of instruments.

Hello Mr Appleton ,I have just discovered your organ lessons and have to say I am thoroughly enjoying them. I also had the pleasure of seeing Keith Emerson with the Nice on what was known many years ago as a package tour. It was in 1967 on the same bill were, Jimi Hendrix ,Pink Floyd , The Move,Amen Corner. We were lucky enough to sneak in the back door and even got to speak to Hendrix ,sorry I was drifting away there for a minute. Anyway I shall definitely be purchasing your DVD I have just come back to the organ after years of playing guitar. Yours hammondly .

Hi Keith, I'm now enjoying your videos about model steam (and "big" steam thanks to your videos with Alexander Karnes who happens to be from my neck of the woods) because I did these Hammond Lessons a few years ago.

Wow Mr. Keith...just found today...I love your videos. Do you have tutorial for chording with left hand? I play gospel/praise & worship at my church but chord with right hand and some running bass. Also have problems knowing how/when to incorporate a glissando. Thanks for any tips.

I rarely comment but even as a long-time pro player, I found a truckload of things I didn't know, but had heard and now understood. I REALLY like your staying at an intermediate/advanced level, and your pacing, and your short and direct info. You pack a lot in that way. And your insight on techniques that are best realized on the B3--not necessarily pulled from the piano world. I was expecting this to be another lame tutorial video, but quite the opposite. Running through the whole playlist now. Thanks for your generosity in sharing your knowledge. (If you want to email me I'll send you to my site with lots of rock and hard rock B3 work.)

Yeah give us a good sounding simple phrase and get our hopes up then destroy them with the short section you play at the end. Haha joke aside I kinda leveled up in a few seconds watching this video. Thanks for the awesome lesson.

While I agree that "no one owns music", when it comes to a B3, it helps to own a truck with a lift gate and a good appliance dolly!

Our drummer bought a B3 and Leslie speaker many years ago with the intention of 'perhaps using it at gigs'... Well THAT never happened! It took 5 of us to get it up the stairs into his music room and as far as I know, it hasn't moved from that spot since!

Great instructional and killer sound but the framing was a little too tight, your right hand went out of frame so I could'nt see what you were doing in upper octaves. Have always loved the B# sound, from Jimmy Smith to Joey Defranceso to Walter Wanderly.
