Try reading low stakes 5 card omaha hi/low hands when 4-5 grumpy old man coffee players get to showdown, flip over their hands at the same time and you have to read who has the best high and low hand within a few seconds before they start berating you for being so slow at reading their hands!

This is a HUGE help. I have an audition at a Strip casino in Vegas in a few hours and I've been binging your videos. I was a tables games dealer for 5 years and I'm trying to switch to poker... Also, I love that you said highs, lows and yo's. Forgot you weren't on a dice table for minute?? 😂 You are an excellent dealer!!

At 8:12 25 is two pair instead of aces, but it still loses to j10 so no worries 😀 I like how you look at if the board can make a full house, flush or straight and then look for those key cards. I guess if all those are out I'd look for the highest hand like boats first then flushes then straights. Thanks for the video 😀

17:34 A, 4, 2, Q .I am learning but wasn't A & 2 the lowest? beating 2&3 . If not please explain
@truepokerdealer
@truepokerdealer 3 жыл бұрын
Good question. When finding the best low in any 8 or better game, the objective is to find the lowest possible 5-card combination. In omaha, that requires using exactly 2 cards from the player's hand and exactly 3 cards from the board. When comparing low hands, the winning hand will be the hand with the lowest high card. In this case, because of the Ace on the board, the player with the A42Q would end up with an 8762A if you used the A2 from their hand. That player's best low hand would be to use their 42 from their hand and the Ace from the board for a low hand of 7642A. But that hand doesn't beat the 7632A that the player with the T3T2 has. As you can see, an 8-low is not as good as a 7-low and a 763 is lower than a 764. I hope that made sense! If you would like more practice a Truepokerdealer student just released a free smartphone app called "Mixed Nuts" that you can download on the Google Play or IOS App store to practice practice practice!

Question: question: why would each of them get half the pot? Wouldn’t the first hand get all the high pot. And the other with the 4/3 gets the low? That is better than 5/3 At 30:40
@truepokerdealer
@truepokerdealer Жыл бұрын
In Hi Lo, exactly half the pot goes to the high hand (Quad 2's) and exactly half the pot goes to the low hand if there is a qualifying low, which there is in this case (6432A). So they each get half the pot because the high gets half the pot and the low gets the other half the pot. One player has the high hand and the other player has the low hand.

In the first hand didn't the first cards have a flush?
@truepokerdealer
@truepokerdealer 2 жыл бұрын
No. You must use exactly 2 from your 4-card hand and exactly 3 from the 5-card board to make your best 5 card poker hand.

is there any reason why dealers never re order the flops for easier reading such as putting suits together or pairs together or straights together? I can only assume that there is a rule against this but why would there be a rule against this if there is no cheating function as it really shouldn't matter the order of the flop? and all hard rules always have some reason for integrity. I can't see any sacrifice of the integrity for this.
@truepokerdealer
@truepokerdealer Жыл бұрын
The technical answer to this is that re-ordering the board violates a fundamental rule of poker - the "one player per hand" rule But the truth is that if poker players had an issue reading the board, then the industry would adjust. The real reason that dealers don't re-order the board is because even a 4 year old can read the board the way it comes out.
